Worst move ever! We have moved a few times over the last decade, including one cross-country experience. Moving is always stressful, even under the best of circumstances, however this company by far was the most unprofessional and unprepared mover we have ever used. We hired them for a seemingly strait forward cross-town move, which began with putting about a quarter of our belongings into their storage warehouse back in April of 2014. I will say that this part of the process went fairly smoothly and professionally, and the price for the transfer and storage was reasonable. Our actual moving day in July was a disaster. The crew showed up late with a truck too large, which wasted a lot of time. Just days before, the company representative had confirmed two smaller trucks due to our neighborhood's steep grade and difficult access. They were to provide boxes for glass tabletops, mattresses, mirrors, and TVs, which we had confirmed a few days before the move. They came with no packing materials, packed the truck without boxing the glass and mattresses, which resulted in dirty mattresses from their truck, and broken glass. They also gouged and scratched many pieces of our new and expensive wood furniture. We had moved nearly all of our boxes and art ourselves, so the job mostly consisted of furniture, which apparently had not been padded properly considering the extent of the damage. Additionally, they tracked tar onto our brand new carpet, and damaged door frames in our brand new home. After filing a claim for the damages, we were not even reimbursed the standard $0.60 per pound per their contract, and in the end only received a check for $200+/- for the thousands of dollars in damage. We realize now that we should have purchased additional insurance, but the claims process was falsely represented in the beginning, when we were told during our walk-through "if we break it (the glass), we will replace it, or if we damage it, we will make sure it is repaired to your satisfaction."
We have delayed this review on Angie's List, as we tried to resolve our problem through the Better Business Bureau, but North Park Transfer and Storage did not respond to our complaint, which did not surprise us, as they had stopped answering our emails and voicemails back in August.
On Move day two guys came out to the house. They were really nice and very fast. They took my bed apart and put it back together for me in my new bedroom and they moved my dresser around a few times until I liked the arrangement. I would definitely them to any one who is moving.
