Horrible workmanship. Water damage reconstruction in kitchen, bathroom and flooring. They have not completed the job after a year. Keep making excuses about there poor workmanship. Have posted a previous review about this and don't see it. I wonder why??? It is negative, probably why. Flooring still not installed after the 3rd try. Countertops separating as well as the back splash. This has been nothing but a nightmare. They put a lean on my house even though they have trashed my house. You have been warned!!!

Michael was our construction "advisor" and was very attentive to our project. He helped in all matters from design, to crew supervision, to keeping the project running smoothly from start to finish. Easy to talk with and very attentive to details. We were a little shaky with our content "advisor" but after a few meetings and getting everybody on the same page, it all went as well as a devastating situation could go!! Thanks, and hats off the teams at the Paul Davis Company, for all their help and concern during a very difficult time!!! Michael and the teams have made a few house calls to remedy a few small concerns as necessary (a leaky sink drain and to track down a fuse that was being difficult) but the job was done right, from the very start!!
Description of Work: We had a house fire that did extensive damage(95% of the interior was either fire damage or smoke damage) to the interior of our home late Feb. 2017, we were back in the house the last weekend of June.

Everything was handled as a first class operation. We got 3 quotes but these people were the most professional by far. There was a drawing made for each section of the house outline exactly what they would do and what cost.

We are very appreciative of this review and thank you for sending this. For our Oklahoma clients who are surprised to be seeing a Massachusetts review about us, I wanted to explain. When Boston had a terrible blizzard in 2015, one insurance company asked us if we could send some personnel to help their clients. Many needed help urgently, especially with ice dams and other water damage issues. We normally stay in Eastern Oklahoma to be ready to assist our local clients. In this case, however, we sent 2 of our of technicians up there to help, and these reviews are from clients in that area.

Thank you for this review. Since we do not work in Idaho, we think this review may have come from a family we helped recently. If so, they had a water loss occur 3 weeks before they were supposed to move to the Northwestern U.S. They had a contract on the house and needed the mitigation and repairs completed before they left, so the house would be ready for the new owners. We were glad to be able to help them get this done.

Description of Work: I spoke on the phone w/two very nice ladies, one of them is Vivian. I had some water damage by the improper installation by a home appliance store. The waterline wasn't connected properly causing water damage on my carpet behind the island kitchen where the dishwasher was installed. Vivian is very nice and professionall lady, giving me some great advice on some of the first things that must be done first. I definitely recommend them to any homeowner, because they know how to make things right. Thank you, Vivian and company!

The experience in working with them was horrible, they were expensive because they inflate the estimates knowing that it will be paid through the insurance company, they did not complete the job that they were hired to do, I had to have the work re-done and cleaned up myself, then when I tried to complain or get the insurance company to intervene, they filed a mechanics lien. Total bullies and poor poor quality of work.
Description of Work: This was the worst service that I have ever received from a company that I brought into my home. They took 4 months to replace French doors and once they decided to just repair what I already had, they painted the color wrong. They charged me for services that they did not complete- clean up, removal. When I complained, they threatened me and made me concerned that they would not complete the job at all. Once it was done and they billed my insurance company, I again complained that it had not been timely, the paint did not match my dining room, they left trash and an A/C unit but charged me for removal. The insurance company had already paid them their portion but I told them I wanted the job finished before I would pay. At that point, Paul Davis Restoration went and filed a Mechanics Lien and attempted to start foreclosure proceedings. I hired an attorney and it was dropped, but seriously a lousy company that I would never recommend to anyone. They get their referrals from insurance companies so beware. You do NOT have to use them, even if your insurance company suggests them.

Response from Paul Davis Restoration
We were surprised to see this review, as this work took place in 2012. Part of our original estimate was to replace her French double doors. However, we discovered that they could be repaired instead, and credited [member name removed] for the difference. Our pricing is based on what her insurance company agrees to. We use the pricing system that is standard in the insurance and restoration industry. This is fair, but not unduly generous to the contractor. At the completion of our work, we surveyed her on September 14, 2012 and she gave us an “8” on a scale of 10, saying, “Everyone has been very nice. The 8 is just due to the time it took.” Part of the time was due to the fact that the type of French door she had was no longer made. So we ultimately found a way to repair the door. Her insurance company paid her for the approved amount less her deductible and she did cash that check. However, she refused to pay us. As for the workmanship issues she mentions, one dealt with paint color. We used the exact color she chose. The window was not cracked when we finished the work and was not mentioned until she was invoiced. We did offer that, once she paid, we would fix the window if it was due to our workmanship or an installation problem, and to remove any broken glass and move the old air conditioning unit that she mentioned. We perform 700-800 jobs a year, and only have to file a lien on one, maybe two, a year. If one does not file a lien with 120 days of completing the work, one loses the right to do so. We do everything we can to avoid filing liens, but in this case we had no choice. She ultimately paid what she owed, which was fair for the work that was done.

Roofer was amazing. jeremy not only helped us choose a great color but went to HoA to make sure it would be approved. We have a steep and difficult roof and they were done in 2+ days by Thanksgiving--amazing. Painter/drywallers too! We love Paul Davis. this was our second experience with them, and again wonderful!

It appears the estimator who went out failed to get back with you about a repair estimate. We apologize for this. It is not how we normally operate, and we appreciate you letting us know. As you can see from our other reviews, from the jobs we have performed, our clients do appreciate the work we do. Tom Culver, President Paul Davis Restoration

It appears our company failed to get back to (member name removed) to schedule a repair estimate, so he understandably selected another contractor. I am truly sorry that we dropped the ball. We pride ourselves with responding promptly to inquiries, as well as being accessible during the job. I appreciate (member name removed) taking the time to bring this matter to our attention. When I contacted them they were quick to respond and very professional. We ended up going with someone else but estimate was on par with everyone else and they were prompt. The guys that came out to give the estimate were really knowledgeable and really put me at ease. Thought we didn't use them they are worth a mention based on professionalism alone.

Returned home to find a burst pipe with water all over family room, kitchen and dining room--all with hardwood flooring. Our insurance adjuster suggested Paul Davis and another restoration entity for us to have estimates done--we did not have to use either for the actual reconstruction. Chose Paul Davis to do the work because it was early-mid October and they promised that work would be done before Thanksgiving, when we already had plans to have family and guests over. (The general contractor who did a remodel for us would not be available until end of October at the earliest.) As it turned out, though this experience was stressful, the field supervisor was fantastic to work with and so were the crews he had. Field supervisor coordinated the work, was very responsive to my calls/texts, and was very detail-oriented, like I am. When crew did not show up at the time promised, a call to him meant that they did show up soon after, or at least they did show up at the revised time. Field supervisor visited site every work day, almost always twice--at the beginning of the work day and/or at the end of the day. He ensured that we were satisfied with the work before we had to pay, though the majority was covered by our home insurance plan. If we found something not up to par, he would have crew back in ASAP, making the needed finishing touches. With such an extensive restoration--floors, dry walls, paint, electric fixtures, touch-up of cabinets--i decided to replace kitchen counters with granite (were and quot;formicaand quot;), replace the sink and install a new garbage disposal, at our expense, which was started after Thanksgiving. Unfortunately, the granite installers made some extensive scratches in newly installed hard wood floors--no problem, PD field supervisor made sure that damaged planks were replaced, which was completed the first week of January, at no additional cost to us. In fact, the overall experience was so good that we have scheduled a duct cleaning through PD, which has not yet been done.
Description of Work: Did not do the mitigation tasks--drying out rooms and mold mitigation--that was done by a company sent by our insurance adjuster. Otherwise, demo of ruined floors--maple hardwood and oak parquet--drywall, molding, under cabinets and old electric baseboard heaters. Replaced all flooring with oak hardwood, replaced drywall, primed and painted all walls, including parts that were not actually water-damaged, and converted "extra" electric circuit to ceiling track LED lights. In addition to restoration, also had PD replace laminate kitchen counters with granite, installed new sink and faucet, etc, and new trash compactor.

Communication was great! The workers were late the first day (they called to explain why). First, they installed the crown moldings (3 rooms) and decorative trim. Then shortened the 2 interior doors. One of the interior doors was damaged during the process of shortening it. (I was not able to salvage it and had to get a different door.) The they shortened and installed the exterior door. Replacing the pocket door was difficult and they couldn't finish it the first day. They came back to work on the decking over the patio. They had to return on a Saturday to finish the pocket door. Everything looks GREAT!

Everything went extremely well. The work was performed completely to our satisfaction. The project manager, Mark, kept in constant contact with us detailing who would be there, what time they would arrive, and about how long they would be there. Couldn't be better. I received a follow-up call from Tim, at the Paul Davis Restoration office, to make sure everything was to our satisfaction. It was. A really first-class job. We highly recommend Paul Davis Restoration.
