This was the worst lawn service I have ever had. They left huge piles of cut grass in the yard every time they would mow. I had to hire another crew to clean up their mess they made of my yard. I would never hire this company again.
In response to Star Landscaping's response, I have plenty of emailed invoices saying that I absolutely do have the correct company and was a customer of theirs. I am even more unimpressed that this company cannot stand up for a poor job they did. I do not leave negative responses unless they are warranted and this company absolutely deserves a poor review.
"I apologize for the service you received, but I believe you may have the wrong company. We have never serviced you as a client and we don't leave grass behind when we mow someone on a regular basis we either bag the grass and take it with us or blow away any excess that we miss. The only time we may have clumps in the grass is when grass hasn't been mowed for a long time and is too tall to bag or it's wet and doesn't bag well. Even then, we clean the clumps behind us as should anyone. Again, I apologize for the service you received from the company that you received it."
"We enjoyed working with [member name removed]. There were some scheduling issues and she was very patient with us. Glad you like the work and look forward to working with you in the future."
"We are starting the 2nd year with Mr. (member name removed) and although we always try to leave instructions on what we have done and the aftercare with whomever is home, we will work much harder this season to be clear and explanatory in the service we have provided and the care that is required when we are not there. We enjoy working with Mr. and Mrs. (member name removed) for a 2nd year."
"The [member name removed] have been great customers for a few years now. We enjoy working with them throughout the year."
"Thank you for the review [member name removed]. We service a rental house for this gentleman and he is always prompt and courteous."
"Their beds turned out beautiful. We continue to go by and check on things as we service a lawn within their neighborhood. They have continued to keep things looking great and we look forward to working with them in the future should they need it."
"This job consisted of removing a fence panel to have a cess to wheel barrow loose rocks from the front to the back yard. We cleaned out and leveled one side of the house and then added loose rock on top and around french drains. The rock was dropped and leveled by hand. On the opposite side of the house, stepping stones had been laid out for rocks to be added around them. We had to pick the stones back up and replace them, as to not damage them as we wheel barrowed the loose rocks around. The job was bid as a solid rate, not hourly. We did take a lunch break about halfway thru and then finished up . There were 3 people helping instead of just Jason and I, as we normal have. I'm glad you liked the work. Thanx"
It was obvious not all the fescue sod was healthy after laid. I consulted other landscapers, had them come out and verify they did not install correctly and just laid on top of soil, that was hard as a rock after they told me they would till the hard soil, breaking it up and prep by putting down fertilizer to help with growth. I followed their watering instructions, keeping in mind the extra rain we were already getting and made sure the sod was moist but not soaked. The sod started turning the same color of the pieces they originally installed. I told Jennifer about it and she assured me they would make it right.....But also accusing me of OVERWATERING!!!! My last email from her was Nov 15, 2013 and she said they paid someone to come out and reseed but she never realized they never showed stating because I never notified them....WELL, I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED SOMEONE WAS SCHEDULED TO COME OUT AND RESEED AT THAT TIME!!!!!
I gave this company ample time to make things right like they promised they would.
This company is CLEARLY not a landscaping company. Knows NOTHING about laying sod and the time of year to do so after talking to many other landscapers. She did not follow through with making things right. So basically I feel we were given the run around due to them being so far from us in Yukon. If they did not want to drive this far out to take care of us, then they should have had the decency to turn down the job instead of wasting $1800 of our $$. My husband is severly disabled and I put all my trust into these people. They did not reflect in their work who they appeared to be when they were here. They may receive excellent reviews from people they do lawn work for in their area......but if you live more then 30 miles from this company, and SOD LAID, I recommend not using them.
"(removed member name) is a great customer who works odd hours sometimes and we try to work with her to accommodate her work schedule. Thanx for everything Karen."
"(Member name removed) is one of our customers that we have never actually met. Even when the rental was finally rented, he still had us maintain the lawn. Hate to see you go. You have been a great customer. Thanx for the review"
"The [member name removed] have a very large property and the grass grows extremely fast. We do our best to keep up with their quick growth and keep their property looking good. They communicate well with us and we appreciate their business."
We were surprised at some of the negative reviews. This has been a very tough year for lots of us who live in or near Moore, which was hit by a terrible tornado in May, Norman, parts of which had serious hail and wind damage in large March, or the El Reno area, which was also affected by a severe storm. Star is a small company, and we think they have done a remarkable job of keeping up with their responsibilities under the circumstances.
We have not been able to follow through on their landscaping recommendations and will be unable to until much later in the year, so we cannot comment except to say that their suggestions were very well informed and they have been willing to work with us as our plans have changed in light of circumstances. We're looking forward to working with them in the future and recommend them to others.
"(Member name removed) wanted a raised bed that she could grow vegetables in, seperate from her existing flowerbed. She had found some in a magazine that she liked, but Jason and I were worried about the durability and longivity of these. Instead, Jason built a bed that was the same dimensions as what she was looking for, and we know it will last for time to come. Everything else was in pretty good shape in her beds and just needed a trim and clean up. It's easy to please someone that knows that they want and are so easy to work with. Thanx (Member name removed)"
"(member name removed) was looking to get his home on the market for sale and wanted the beds to look good for anyone that looked at the home. We cleaned out the beds of overgrown grass and weeds and put down a weedblock to prevent this in the future. We removed the existing stone border and placed the weed fabric underneath for added barrier against unwanted grass from the lawn. We also trimmed all of the bushes and shrubs. Each bed was topped with a shredded cedar mulch. We used existing flagstone pieces, found burried, to make a pathway from the sidewalk to the water spicket within one of the beds. Pictures are available on our facebook page."
"The Member's are great people. We enjoy working with them and keeping their lawn and landscape looking neat and tidy. We will begin service with them again this year and look forward to the upcoming season. Thanx for the A grade."
"The yard ended up being much more work than we anticipated. The beds were very overgrown and had not been tended to in quite some time. The member was new to the neighborhood and wanted a yard that she could enjoy. We tried to give her what she described she wanted. I'm glad everything turned out so well. It was definately a diamond in the rough."
"Thank you so much Member. We greatly appreciate your business and look forward to continued services."
During our consultation, I had expressed other ideas I wanted to do one of which was to replace a tree. Jason and Jen came across a good deal on a tree that I wanted and texted me about it. I thought this was a display of excellent customer service. It meant they listened to what I said and they remembered. They removed the old tree and install the new. I love it!
"The member was fun to work with. She gave us the ability to have fun with her beds and be creative. She was having company at her home within a few weeks of us doing the beds and she wanted things to look nice. I took notes to try to capture everything that she mentioned and we went to work. I am so glad to hear that you have enjoyed everything sll summer. Everything looks great and it always will when the customer takes the time to take care of everything planted. We truly enjoyed making you happy. Keep up the good work."
an entire section missed. Grass clippings were not bagged, or blown.
And there was a huge pile left in the street along with muddy tire
tracks left in my driveway. One side of the house was completely
untouched. The hedges were left shaggy and untrimmed, after we had
discussed trimming them..
I was really hoping to come home to find a
beautiful job done. And unfortunately I did not. I text Jenn, thanked
her for her service, said I would mail a check, and I would not be using
their company again. Instead of an apology, I received a series of
unprofessional responses, excuses, insults, etc. One comment in
particular and quot; The customer is not always rightand quot;.... Well, right or wrong,
is irrelevant. The job was lousy, and the customer service was even worse!
"This one is tough for me. This member called complaining about another company and the fact that they wouldn't trim her bushes for her and she wanted someone new to trim, mow & edge.. I advised in the first call that we can look at the property and give her a bid, but if the bushes were too large, it isn't a good idea to trim them as much as she was describing, as it could kill them. We went out and looked at he property and gave her the cost to mow the front and back and advised again that we wouldn't be able to give a major trim to the bushes, as it would cause much harm or kill them. Told her what day we could visit should she accept the offer and she said she would look at other offers and get back with me. A few days later, 2 days prior to the visit date, she text and said she wanted us to mow. At this, we added her to our schedule for mowing. We come to the property, mowed, edged, and blew the grass. There was a small patch of grass under the trailer as we pulled away. There was a small patch of fescue grass on the west side of the residence that did not require a mow as fescue should be at a 5-7inch height and it was shorter than that. We weren't sure if this area belonged to the customer, but decided it didn't matter because the grass shouldn't be mowed any shorter. Within a few minutes of leaving the property I received a text from the customer with an unhappy and rude tone expressing that my crew hadn't trimmed her bushes. I responded trying explaining that the crew was myself and tried several times to apologize, explained the situation of time and scheduling for trimmning, explained we would give a small haircutt to the bushes next visit, and nothing worked. The customer was threatening and attempted to bully me into doing what she wanted with the bushes. I do not respond well to bullying or name calling and suggested that customers aren't always right and again apologized, again receiving negative and demeaning responses towards myself and my company. I tried killing the cusomter with kindness and this enraged her further. I decided that she found me with complaints about the previous company, much like her complaints about me and that sometimes, it doesn't matter how good the job is, the customer will never be happy. As I explained to Member, she is the first in 100 customers that has had a complaint like this, and the first to refuse to let me attempt to make it right. I think that 1 out of 100 is a pretty good record."
