LOST A LOYAL CUSTOMER
I don’t like giving bad reviews so I waited a while before I decided I needed to let others know what happened to me at Brookwood Automotive.
I have been going to Brookwood Automotive for a couple of years now. I do a lot of vehicle maintenance myself but when there is a big job to do I take my vehicles to Brookwood Automotive. I have taken 3 of my vehicles to them on many occasions over the past couple years to tackle those big jobs. When I find a business that I trust I don’t go anywhere else since I am a loyal customer. I thought I had found the auto shop that I would always go to but that has changed now do to recent events.
I had a coolant leak and I could not find where it was coming from so I took it to Brookwood Automotive to get it looked at. They
told me it was a coolant air bleeder and I told them they could replace it ($335). I got the car back and my car was still leaking coolant. Well I kept putting coolant into the car for another 6 months and finally took the car back to Brookwood Automotive. I told them that the coolant leak has never stopped since the last time I had them fix it. This time they told me the water pump needed to be replaced. I told them to go ahead and change it ($859). Well 3 months later the water pump was leaking very bad so I had the car towed back to them. They told me the water pump was under warranty and they would fix it at no charge.
Over the next 36 days I never received a phone call from them giving me a status update so I called once a week to check on the status of the car. They would always give me a date the car would be finished but the car was never done as promised. They finally called me 36 days later telling me the car was ready to be picked up. The owner told me they changed the water pump and it was good to go. He continued to tell me that they saw the check engine light on and they changed the map sensor. He said he was not going to charge me labor for the sensor but the part would cost $120. They never called me for authorization (standard operation) and now they expect me to pay for something I knew nothing about until it is time to pick up
the car. I did not argue with him because I just decided right then and there that this was the last time I would
ever come here again. I looked up the map sensor location when I got home and this is something I could have changed
myself in about 5 minutes and I could have purchased the part myself for a cheaper price. The check engine light
was not on when I dropped off the car but since I picked up the car the check engine light has been on every day. I
will have the codes checked and replace the part myself. I never take my car into the shop for a check engine light and I always change sensors myself.
In the past when I took any of my vehicles to Brookwood Automotive they have always called me first before replacing anything and they have always had a quick turn-around time. They do not treat customers the same way if the job is under warranty. This is why they had my car for 36 days. That is also why it feels like they charged me $120 so they made something out of the deal. Well I was mad at myself at first for not challenging the $120 charge but I am over it now. They have lost my business forever and I will also not recommend this place to my friends.

I went to Brookwood automotive service center because my service engine soon light was on, and I knew that I need to replace the camshaft sensor on my truck . I went in thinking that it would be about one hour to complete the work because I went to firestone the day before that ;and was told it would take about 30 minutes. I went in and I spoke with Kevin the owner, and told him that I need a camshaft sensor on my truck. I ask him how long it would take and he told me he at least need two hours to do a complete check to see if there were other problems besides the one I was aware of. He informed me that he was running behind and ask if I want to leave my car and that he could fit me in. I could not leave my car at that time so I ask if I could make an appointment for another day. I arrived to the shop and I my truck was the first one they start working on. They fixed the camshaft sensor ;and the mechanic did a test drive ;and the service engine light was still on. Kevin, came out and explained to me that the ignition coil and sparks plugs need to be replaced. I agreed to have those fixed also and I am not having any problems with my truck. I appreciate how Kevin was willing to fit me in to fixed the problems that I was having with my truck with me just walking though the door. I can say that it is not many automotive service center that I have been to that are willing to do that. I would recommend Brookwood automotive service center to my family, friends, co-worker and neighbors. Brookwood automotive service center does a good job on the friendly and professional level keep up the good work.

As far as the A/C unit, it went perfectly. However, an experienced mechanic would have also noticed oil leakage, which SHOULD have affected the decision to have the A/C work done. Instead, after the work was done, parts removed and replaced, the leakage became so severe that the van couldn't be driven. Estimates for that additional repair well exceeded the value of the van. It has since been sold to a do-it-yourselfer for $200. We feel that the information about the oil leakage we needed to make an informed decision was withheld by the mechanic in order to profit from the A/C work.

I had the car at his business first thing in the morning, by appointment, and the car was repaired by the afternoon. He did a wonderful job!

All went very well. The people were friendly and professional. It is hard to find a "guy" in the auto service/repair profession that you do not feel like you need to take a shower after dealing with them. Brookwood was a place I left feeling like I had completed a good business transaction and was not ripped off. The profession is filled with dirty businessmen. Brookwood appears to be one of the good guys.

I called to get a labor only price quote (was given lowest labor quote from several inquires to other auto repair shops) and then took my new parts (I purchased online) and vehicle to them (on the set appt day) and all work was done same day at the quoted price. No surprises, hassles, double talk or dissapointments. I will go back to this business again to have future auto repairs done as they actually earned that trust.
