1. All furniture moved out, all 11 screens removed, area pressure washed. Impeccably done. The cleaning of the floor and subsequent treatment made it look 10x better than when it was put in 15 years ago. 2. Miller & Sons designed, sourced and built a replacement for our 2nd-floor deck railing system. It was exquisite. They advised no treatment needed for main deck, so nothing done except pressure washing and minor treatment. In a year or two we will stain it the same color as the porch. 3. See #2. But, additionally, deck in woeful shape due to being in the shade for 15 years. Chip stained this deck to the same shade as the protected porch. No mean feat. OK, We like these guys. See my earlier review of our basement remodel they did. They know their stuff, and they're meticulous. And, they are old-school honest. The bad news: they want to get out of remodeling and into shower-door installs. Get them while you can.
Description of Work: 1. Clean screened-in porch, then refurbish wood floor. 2. Clean deck, then replace railing system on deck and down to first floor patio. Consult with us on treatment required for deck floor surface. 3. Do the same thing as #2, but on a smaller "herb deck" out a side door off the kitchen.

Fantastic A++++++ We really cannot say enough nice things about this company. They did an excellent job with everything they touched. Our home was built in 1929 and it is superb to see how something so old can have all new amenities. We are tickled every time we come home to our newly completed home. We highly recommend this company, again and again and again. We are having a sunroom done and they will definitely be contacted for estimates, we hope they will have room to fit us on their schedule because they are just that great!
Description of Work: New shower, tile and backsplash, some electrical and lighting.

Description of Work: C.W. Miller came highly recommended to us by 3 friends. We had a very positive meeting with Justin Miller who had lots of ideas for our kitchen. After a month of no contact I called and Justin said he would email a plan and quote to me. We never received a plan and despite phone messages and texts we never heard another word. Very disappointing.

CW Miller & Sons did all of the work themselves: Electrical, plumbing, carpentry, tile, drywall, flooring, and painting and did a marvelous job in all aspects of this renovation. No specialty sub-contractor we?ve ever had did better work than CW Miller did on this job. They are extremely good craftsmen, they?re fair on their pricing when you make changes, and they are honest about admitting mistakes and absorbing the cost under those rare occasions when such things occur. At one point it appeared that they had misquoted the square footage of the flooring required because they had neglected to include the office in the calculation in their bid. They were ready to eat the cost of the extra flooring required until we realized that we had asked them specifically not to include that area in the bid because we had not yet decided on the type of flooring surface we wanted. CW Miller & Sons as a matter of policy do not mark up materials, and they pass their contractor discount on to the customer. The list of additional renovations and changes they did for us with no charge is too extensive to list. If we discovered a problem in our house and mentioned it to them, they fixed it, whether it had anything to do with their renovation or not. We had to be scrupulous in making sure we paid for materials (at least) during these occasions because they would almost never add these charges in if we didn?t insist. These guys are old-school: they pull permits and schedule inspections. They do best-in-class work at a competitive price and they do it so well that they don?t just pass inspections, they pass them with flying colors. While they could have skated by and not fixed dubious ?previous construction? issues, they never approached the job that way ? if they saw something that didn?t meet their standards, they reworked it so it was up to the quality of the rest of their work. It has been our experience that you don?t often find construction contractors who are also experts in audio/visual component installation. Justin Miller does this part of the work, and he was truly a master at his craft. At one point, he walked through my office while I was building a new computer, quickly identified why I was having a problem, and then pointed out a power-supply cable I?d failed to connect. Naturally, I picked his brain on that project every chance I got, and he was always willing to stop and take a look, then offer suggestions if I asked. Justin came out to do the initial evaluation of the project, and we were impressed by his attention to detail and the level of calm professionalism he projected. Our expectations were set so high by this initial encounter that we worried we might be disappointed once the actual work began. Needless to say, we shouldn?t have worried: CW Miller & Sons exceeded our expectations at every step. One caveat to all these accolades: Scheduling can be a bit fluid with these guys because of the meticulous way they work. Our job started a week later than proposed, and it took about 50% longer than expected. Partly this is because they encountered problems from previous construction that they didn?t expect, and partly this is because they were unable to hire people who met their skill requirements. They don?t use subcontractors, so every new-hire becomes an employee of the company, and the Millers are hard to please. In the end, their work was of such consistently high quality that we were willing to live with the additional time it took. Plus, there was never a time when no one was on the job because he?d been pulled off to finish another project. Chip, Justin and Sam Miller were so competent, friendly and professional in every aspect of this job that we hated to see them go. There is no doubt that we will use CW Miller & Sons for any future project we have, and we are pleased to give them our highest recommendation.
Description of Work: CW Miller & Sons remodeled our basement of about 1500 sq. ft. in a house built in 1963. The job required extensive demo back to the studs to remove original-construction paneling and to add wall insulation, and to replace electrical wiring that had been haphazardly installed during renovations from previous contractors through the years. Approximately 50% of the space was converted to laundry area and storage shelving, a bedroom/office area had a closet added, and an existing bathroom was remodeled with existing fixtures moved to accommodate wheelchair access. The remaining main room was converted to an entertainment room with a gas fireplace insert and audio-visual connections added. The electrical and plumbing work was fairly extensive: Move a tankless hot-water system from the office/bedroom to a more appropriate location in the laundry room; Add a new panel to accommodate 200 amp service; Replace a generator 200 amp automatic transfer switch; Reroute and/or replace existing wiring to meet current code requirements

We hired this family-run remodeling company to do a lot of miscellaneous jobs at our home, with the main job being the installation of can lighting throughout the house. Justin and his brother performed all of the work. Since this wasn't a large remodeling job, they were able to fit us in between other bigger projects they had going on. Justin came over and went through every job we were asking them to do and gave us a quote. He was very patient and answered all of our questions, and we had a lot because we aren't very and quot;handyand quot; people and we wanted to make sure we understood everything correctly. He was very transparent about every little cost throughout the entire process. If he ended up getting something cheaper than originally quoted, he would deduct the cost to us. If he knew we could probably buy something cheaper ourselves (such as the ethernet cable) and then he could just install it, he let us know that. Other guys would've just charged an arm and leg for everything and would've never been transparent about it. Plus they would've marked everything up. All around, he and his brother are very honest people. When they finished some of the ceiling work and let it sit for 24 hours, he didn't like how it ended up looking the next day and so he re-did the entire ceiling job. We even had a light switch in our bathroom which was buzzing and causing the light to flicker sometimes and he fixed it and showed us what to do in the future, explaining everything, and didn't even charge us for it. I think he took pity on us because he picked up that were weren't handy with home maintenance, but he is really that nice of a guy too. All of the work was finished within a week. They were very prompt each day and very efficient. They even came over on a Friday night at 8:30pm because the thermostat that they moved wasn't working and therefore we didn't have any heat. We had guests over that night and called them with the problem and they came over right away. He felt bad about the inconvenience and even gave us a gift card to an expensive area restaurant. Again, Justin is just that nice of a guy. Over a year after the work was completed, I happened to notice that one of the light switches that they installed was extremely hot. I'm not sure how I didn't notice this before but I called Justin to ask about it. He came out the next day and fixed the issue and didn't charge me a thing. You can find good craftsmanship many places, but to find a genuinely ethical, trustworthy, hardworking company these days is nearly impossible. I would recommend these guys to anyone and would hire them again in a heartbeat if we needed other work done. No reservations whatsoever!
Description of Work: Installed ~25 can lights on 1st and 2nd floor of home , all associated electrical work, installed 3 ceiling fans, installed custom light switches throughout our home, extensive ceiling repair work and painting, ran ethernet and other wiring from 2nd floor to basement, moved thermostat and home entertainment speakers which included rerouting wiring and patching holes/painting

Really great. This team of guys are exceptional. They are true custom installers- and will do the project just as you would like it- with as much advice and input from them as you want. I am a bit involved and particular- and they were very patient with my input. The quality was exceptional- they made sure that the build was more than acceptable- no corner cutting. Bits that I wanted changed, they had no problems with. They build a custom cabinet over our sump area in what is the media/ den area, built in shelving as well. The bathroom turned our really nicely- and moved the pluming to more suitable location on the other side of the basement. Their attitude was always and quot;sure, we can do that, no problem.and quot; They were always clean and considerate, pulled our trash cans back to our house and often even brought in our news paper! The two sons (engineers) and the father do most of the work with a couple of younger helpers. They do nearly all the work themselves- so not a lot of unknowns coming into the house. Really great job.
Description of Work: Complete finish of basement with egress window and full bath, bedroom, rec room, media area, built-ins, work shop, sound deadening.

We were very happy with the work Justin and and his team performed. From the start, it was a pleasant and relaxing experience. Justin is an easy person to work with, and his patience level is quite impressive! We made changes up until the day he started work, and not once did we get the impression that he was upset, concerned, or annoyed. He made the changes with a smile and a and quot;no problem!and quot; We are sticklers for detail, and Justin's work met our high standards. In fact, he ended up reworking some of his own work before we even had a chance to ask him about it. His standards are very high, and he took the time and effort to make sure his work was perfect before he called it and quot;complete.and quot; We've requested bids for several other projects from him, and he is always ready and willing to work with us on design and cost. His suggestions are both design savvy and cost effective, and we've come to depend on him for not only his building skill but his design skill as well. I highly recommend Justin and CW Miller!
Description of Work: Work performed by CW Miller included: Converted an entry way into a mud room with a sink, sink cabinet, hanging cabinets and tile Moved several outlets and re-dry walled in another room Added 8 can lights in the kitchen Installed under cabinet lighting Installed new door from garage to home

I haven't ever remodeled anything before. I received bids from 5 companies. Justin, who owns C.W. Miller Remodeling with his father, Chip, let me go through all my due diligence, asking for many revisions before ever making a committment. He wasn't pushy, but he answered all my questions promptly and thoroughly. I was down to two companies and had sent yet another email full of questions. While I was typing my questions to the other candidate, Justin drove over with a typed report answered all my concerns. I knew right then that he was the right guy for the job. I liked that he was an owner and had great references. He, his father, and one other guy (Andy, who is also fantastic) came to the job every day. Those 3 did the whole thing. They were quiet, organized, clean, respectful, friendly, helpful and fast. They would have had the project completed in 3 weeks if our floor had come in on time. It was 2 months late, but that was not in any way his fault. I'd like to stress that we were not without a working sink, fridge, oven or microwave the entire time! They kept just enough counter in place that we could function through the whole thing. Of all the bids we received he was not the highest or the lowest. Money was a big issue, and to bring it in at a cost we could afford we asked if we could do any of the work ourselves. He was great about it. We chiseled out the old wood floor using a tool he loaned us. He showed us how to remove baseboards and paint them properly. His father, Chip, taught me how to use joint compound to fix banged up walls and woodwork. I now have a whole new skill set! When the flooring finally came in, they came right over to install it. We didn't have to wait for them to be available again. We were going on vacation, and we trusted them enough to have them install it while we were gone. We came home to a finished project. I have to say it is really beautiful. I will hire them again for all our future projects.
Description of Work: We have a 1987 home that had never been remodeled. The kitchen had low, oak cabinets, worn oak floors, formica counters and a peninsula that wrapped around the cooking area - separating it from the breakfast nook. There was a half wall that separated the breakfast nook from a carpeted family room. We wanted to gut the kitchen, making an island where the peninsula used to be so I wouldn't have to walk all the way around several times a day. We wanted new maple shaker cabinets, granite countertops, stainless appliances and pendants over the island in the kitchen. We wanted to remove the half wall and run bamboo flooring from kitchen, half bath, breakfast nook, family room hall and front foyer. We wanted to paint the stained woodwork, ceilings and walls in all the rooms. The half bath was badly designed, so we wanted to move the toilet to another wall and change the cabinet, mirror and light. We had vinyl in the laundry room off the kitchen and wanted to change to new vinyl.
