Derek is very professional, has the proper skill and tools to do the work requested and is very neat about his work. He came back with some helpful suggestions on some of the jobs he performed and went over and above to improve some things that we had not ask about.

Derek was easy to reach and provided a prompt estimate. He was punctual both at the time of the estimate and at the time he performed the work. He worked very carefully to assure a proper fit in areas where the configuration required custom cutting of the materials.

It was a wonderful experience. Derek was very responsive, and actually completed the job early. He made sure the bookshelves fit the space, and even brought extra stain to make sure that all portions of the bookshelves that were visible were stained (a portion of the back of a bookshelf is visible).

Derek returned my call the same day and was able to come give me an estimate within a couple days. Once I decided to have him do the work, Derek came two days later. He completed the work just like he described. He cut out the rotted part of the frame and trim and removed a piece of rotted pressed wood from below the door. He replaced the cut out pieces on the frame and trim and replaced the piece below the door with a new piece of cedar. Then, he caulked the cracks and painted the door, frame, and trim, including the new piece of cedar below the door. Everything looks great and it was a lot less expensive to replace the rotted wood than it would have been to replace the entire door and frame.

Derek's work was perfect! After months and months of cringing each time I closed the door by forcing it into its frame, it's now an absolute pleasure to experience a silky-smooth closing action. I was a bit relunctant to have my treasured door "cut on" ... but it was in good hands with Derek!

Derek came out and provided an estimate for several small jobs around the house - he was punctual and very friendly. He took many measurements to make sure that the work was accurate, and provided suggestions of what would work and explained why one idea might be better than another. He came back to make the repairs a couple days later, stayed all day and completed all of the jobs in one day! He did great work; all of the projects came out beautifully! We are very happy with the quality and price of the work that Derek provided and would definitely hire him again!

The stain that Derek used worked incredibly well completely camouflaging the damage. Very happy with the results.

Derek was great to work with. From explaining the project start to finish, answering questions, and providing recommendations, he had our best interest in mind. The quality of the work is outstanding, as a result of his attention to detail and willingness to spend as much time as required to get it right. We'll be sure to use Derek again in the future.

Derek responded to my call right away and began work shortly after we spoke. He took his time with the measurements making sure they were accurate. He even came out on a Saturday to install the cabinet. He communicated with me often and made sure we were "on the same page".

Derek was prompt and professional in showing up to give an estimate and in later contact by phone. He took measurements and inspected the work to be done. He promptly got back to us with an estimate that was very fair for the work he proposed to do. What I appreciated very much was his honesty in letting me know that he didn't feel comfortable attempting part of the job, which involved repairing parts of two window frames that had dry-rotted away. We ended up hiring another contractor who did feel comfortable with the work, but we felt very comfortable with Derek and wouldn't hesitate to call him again for another carpentry job.

He was very punctual, completed the work on time and on budget and it looks great. I would definitely hire him again.

All projects turned out well, and all carpentry was professionally executed. The one shortcoming was a lack of knowledge in sealing door glass, which I was able to overcome with my own research and with the assistance of Andersen windows, which was on site installing some new windows at the same time.

Derek came out and gave an accurate estimate for constructing the shelf and replacing the door hinges. When I agreed to have him do the work, he scheduled a time and met that schedule. His work was excellent and exactly as he estimated for the price. I thought the price was actually a little high, but the work was of high quality so I did not mind paying the higher price. I paid $475 for the shelf and $125 for the replacement of the hinges. He was cordial, prompt, and did great work. I would definitely use his services again.

I had rotting wood in the frame around my front door. Other companies had told me that it would be best to replace to entire front or take the door out along with side panels to replace the rotted wood. Derek replaced the rotted wood without removing the door and was able to fix the rest of the frame without replacing the wood. He sealed, caulked, and painted everything and it looks great. I also needed my back door replaced. The existing frame was fine but the steel door was rusted. Everyone else wanted to replace the entire frame and door with a prehung door and frame. Derek was able to readjust the hinges and locks to work with the old frame and saved me a lot of money in installation. He finished both jobs in a few hours but came back the next morning to finish some detail work. I would definitely use him again.

We discussed the plan and Derek showed us moulding samples to choose from. He brought the raw materials and tools at 9 AM and was completed by 3:00 PM. The crown moulding transformed the room!

Derek is a true craftsman. He installed a solid cherry door, door jam and trim I had made in Amish Country. With this much invested in the components I didn t want to run the risk of having it ruined by a second rate carpenter. That s why I went with Derek and was not disappointed. He came on time, was very tidy and did a top notch job. I have ordered more doors and look forward to hiring Derek Brainard again.

We found Derek through Angie's List and contacted him to do the work. I brought the old doors to him at his workshop. A few days later he called with an estimate and asked for a deposit. A couple weeks later, the doors were done and I went to pick them up. Although he was a bit on the expensive side, I'm very pleased with the quality of his work.

I called and received an estimate over the phone which was exactly what I was charged for the job. I dropped a sample of the other wood in the room off and he was able to match the stain on the chair rail to it. He was very punctual, and left no mess in the room he was installing the rail in. The finished product looks fantastic, exactly what I wanted. He also made follow up calls to make sure I was happy with the work, and was very easy to work with.

I ordered this wood from a home improvement store who ordered it from another company in Michigan. But the home improvement store would not install it. I found Derek's name on Angie's List and was impressed with his reviews and some of the pictures on the website. He responded quickly and was confident that he could the work. He came when he said he would, gave me an estimate and completed the work. It looks wonderful!

Derek responded quickly to my request for work. Showed up and completed work as expected and followed up during and after the work was complete. I would use him again.

This was a great experience. Mr. Brainard was very timely in responding to my initial request for an estimate. He showed up right on time for that estimate and was very professional and knowledgeable about his work and what needed to be done. He responded within two days with the estimate and came out and completed the work a few days later. He is very much a perfectionist and seemed genuinely concerned in making sure the job was done properly and to our satisfaction. He also took the time to clean up after himself and was very meticulous. It looks great, he did just what we asked him to do, and we would most definitely use him for this type of service again.
