Brainards custom built in furniture

I had an expensive cabinet made specifically for a rear projection TV. the TV stopped working but I wanted to keep the cabinet and have it modified so that we could use it for another TV. Derrick scheduled a time to look at the project within a couple of days of my call to him. He came to our house, carefully measured and studied the problem. He had some good ideas and was willing to work with my husband's ideas. As promised, he had an estimate for the job within a few days. His price for the job seemed high but I went with all the excellent reviews on Angie's list and accepted him for the job. He said it would take about a week and, right on time, came back with the finished parts and installed them in place. He added holes where needed. He also went beyond the scope of the job and helped my husband put the heavy speakers in place, put the new TV together and in place, and helped fish the wires through the holes. If I need a finished carpenter in the future, I will call Brainard Woodworking again.

This is the second time we've used Brainard Woodworking and Derek has become our go-to guy for carpentry. We will certainly recommend him to our friends and neighbors. It's refreshing to see someone who is highly skilled at his craft.

Derek was very professional. He returned our call for a estimate within 24 hrs. He arrived on time and prep the work area to protect the paver and concrete areas. The project was done quickly and to our satisfaction. I purchased bi-fold doors to complete my kitchen pantry. Sadly the doors were a little too tall. Brainard's Woodworking For Your Home came to my rescue. He trimmed the doors, mounted them in the pantry opening and I am very satisfied with the outcome.

He was able to repair the door frame upon assessment which was not what I was expecting. I was quite pleased. He was friendly and professional in demeanor. He worked in a very neat manner and cleaned up after himself. I would definitely recommend him to others.

What else is there to say then hire this man! Not only is he patient and conscientious with his work, he is also an extremely nice man who I felt comfortable walking in and out of my home with a small toddler. He took his time thinking about my problem, considering window leaks are hard to sort out. He made a follow up phone call to say he felt confident he could solve my issue. I hired him based on his assessment and his personable nature! He always either answered my call or called shortly after i left a message! He came when he said he would and left my house in great shape once finished! I can say with joy that in the most recent storm, my window does not leak!!! I can say with confidence he will be my carpenter in the future!

Derek did a great job. I was so concerned that the ceiling would not be able to be repaired wihout removing and replacing a section of boards. Derek took a few scrap boards of the same wood that we had, worked with them at home to see how the wood would react to sanding. He came back out to our home and sanded the damaged boards and they now blend in perfectly with the remainder of the ceiling....no replacement needed. His equipment was top notch and caught all the debris from sanding so my house was not covered with sawdust. Very happy with the results!

My husband and I were very happy with Derek's cabinets. He was very meticulous with his measurements, since the main cabinet was not standard. We provided him with a sample stain to match the hardwood in the adjoining room. The cabinets fit perfectly into the space and the coloring looks great. The shelving and mirror door required a couple days onsite work. Derek was very professional and tidy. We would gladly recommend his work to anyone needing a custom piece.

Mr. Brainard arrived at the designated time , accessed the project and began the process of cutting, hanging and adjusting two 2'x8' paneled doors onto the existing framework of our master baths linen closet.The project took approximately 6 hours and was completed in a very professional manner, great attention to detail.I plan on using Mr. Brainard on future projects, great job.

I needed a post replaced for our deck that was rotted through. He came and gave me an estimate and then was able to fit me in sooner than expected which I really appreciated! We were having our deck painted the next week and he worked within our timeline for that. The post is solid and matches the original exactly. Looks great, good cleanup etc.

The project went great.It was an involved process because the TV is wider thanthe cabinet.

We had Derek put new baseboards and casings in a room. The finished product looked wonderful. Excellent workmanship and quality! Thank you!

We bought stain, wood trim and casing to finish a project in our small foyer... We called Derek out for a estimate; we agreed on a price and he took the material with him the same day.. He advised that the stain may not work and he would have it custom mixed at an additional cost.. Our stain did not work and he did have it custom mixed ~ it is a very close match.. He left the rest of the quart for touch-ups around our house.. :) About a week later Derek returned with the trim and casing stained and varnished.. In no time at all the casing and trim was replaced, nail holes filled and the job was finished... You can tell Derek loves what he does ~ it shows in his work.... He is a very pleasant man and I would definitely recommend him for any woodworking project you may have... He is a true professional... There still are some out there and he REALLY is one of them...

Derek Brainard has a tremendous gift for working with wood. He's extremely professional, and there is no doubt he can create anything you can think of. I have a bay window area in my kitchen that was just wasted space. I asked Derek if he could create a storage area that was strong enough for a person to sit on. Not only did he create a fantastic storage cupboard, its strong enough to sit, and he used high quality hinges on the open door so it wouldn't slam closed, and would stay open at any height if I wanted it open. I get compliments from every visitor that stops by my house. Since Derek did such a great job, I hired him to handle a few more projects, such as creating a wood step to get into my bathtub that was formerly made of something covered with carpeting.... He made the step look like it had been built there originally and matched the cupboards. He also reproduced a cupboard door that I damaged and made it look like it had been there forever as if he cloned the door. He's not cheap, but you get what you pay for. Top supreme quality! I highly recommend Derek and I guarantee you will be happy you called him.

My desire was to have the tables made sturdy enough to be used for light work. That was what I got! I was so pleased and surprised to hear from Derek that all the pieces were ready on Sunday! I would definitely trust Derek to do other repairs or woodworking projects for me in th future

Mr. Brainard was easy to contact and came to give an estimate soon after my first call. He arrived on time for both the estimate and the actual work. While here to give an estimate, Derek Brainard was more careful than others who cam out about the exact placement and measurements of the trim to be installed. Derek came out on a Saturday for our convenience and because he knew we were eager to get the work done so we could have our kitchen painted. I was very impressed by his exceptional attention to detail. Once all of the trim was installed, Derek then prepared the trim to be painted. He was very neat and cleaned up after himself thoroughly. This project was not so clearly defined, and it could have ended up messy looking, but it looks neat and crisp, and we were very pleased with the results.

Mr Brainard came in and measured the walls for custom built in bookcases. I gave him a general idea of the functionality of the room. and how we wanted it to look. He was very precise in measuring the walls, in fact he came back a couple of times, just so everything would fit in just right. He took into consideration where the electrical outlets were, when he measured for the bookcases, and where the printer would sit. After he purchased the lumber he had us come to see it and go over the design of the book cases. I gave him a sample of the color of the wood stain we wanted and he picked the perfect match. After he applied the the first coat of the stain he had us come over and approve the color. When he finished building the cases in his shop, he brought them over and they fit into the wall perfect! All we could say was, WOW! How beautiful the book cases looked. We have had friends compliment and admire the look of our study over and over again he had to pull up the carpet and baseboards to set the bookcases. he put back the baseboards, and have a carpet man come lay the carpet in place. Job well done!

Mr. Brainard made a mat cutting table for our studio. He did a wonderful job! We would use him again for any type of woodworking needs we might have in the future.

It went wonderfully. He game by for a description and measurements and then he mailed us an estimate. When we committed to to amount, he came back and we discussed the design in depth. Two weeks later, he came back with the piece to make sure that it would fit snugly and properly and then he told us when he would have it finished. He completed his work ahead of schedule and called us and installed the cabinet a full week ahead of schedule! We are very happy with his work. This is our second project with him and we are so pleased that we found him on Angie's List!
