Home Instead Senior Care

This is the third request for my review and I will provide it again. I was employed by Home Instead for roughly 15 months. During that time I worked with clients in their homes (Caregiver of the Month within 7 months of hire) and for a short time as a support person in the office (while I should have been at home healing a wrist while covered by Worker's Compensation). With experience from both perspectives, this agency is definitely more worried about the bottom line than the care of the client. I have more than a few horror stories to share from both roles. Caregivers come and go through a revolving door, are solicited through signs on telephone poles or busy street corners or an ongoing ad in the Blade or in neighborhood publications. Two months ago I saw one and called out of curiosity (anonymously) to ask about a "$150 sign on bonus" and was told that would be paid after 6 months. The rate of pay was strictly minimum wage, even when I explained I have 6 years experience and multiple wonderful references. I would be eligible for a raise after 3 months (raises in the past were 5-25 cents/hour per review period), and I would not attain my current rate for 3 years! Clearly experience is NOT desired. "Training" consists of a 2-3 hour session on the day you are hired.... period. No attention paid to Alzheimer special needs. Support in difficult situations from the office is non-existent. I have provided a review (by request) in the past and the agency has responded that I am a "disgruntled former employee". I am indeed a former employee who was wrongfully terminated (for officially reporting a case of neglect - of which the company had been made fully aware and refused to act). It was legally determined that the dismissal was indeed inappropriate and that decision was upheld upon the company's appeal. The head office of the Home Instead franchise also agreed that many of the actions of this office did not comply with their standards. Would I recommend them? f you want an agency that will send multiple minimum wage, minimally "trained" caregivers and provide minimal oversight, follow-up or support to your family member, this is the place to go. I have worked for a different agency for the past 5 years now and see nothing even close to this kind of operation or mindset. If I am asked to review this company again, I will. Family members and clients need to know.

Has gone very well. Caregivers are competent and professional.

Company is more interested in profit than clients.

They come and clean the house. They were very professional, they come here to do the job and they get it done. Employees are good and they do a good job.

They are were very flexible, easy to work with. Compassionate. Caring folks you would like to have care for your parents.

My mother even said that nobody does the work that they do here.

Their charges are $160 for three hours. The price is reasonable.
