I would never recommend Tri-County Kitchen and Bath. The owner is impressive during the sales pitch, but the follow-through is woefully lacking. The work seemed to go well over the course of the several days it took to complete the job. Things I found out either as the project ended or after the fact made me realize I?d made a big mistake hiring this company. 1. On the last day, the guy from a separate company arrived to install the flooring, and Tri-County?s employee was just finishing up. After the Tri-County guy left, the flooring guy came out and asked me if I knew Tri-County?s guy was not a licensed plumber. I was stunned. The guy had just installed an expensive jetted tub for me, and he told the flooring guy that it was the first one he?d ever installed and that he wasn?t even a licensed plumber! 2. I just found out a couple weeks ago that the jetted tub faucets were installed incorrectly. The threads connecting the guts of the faucets with the handles were barely caught. Once they disconnect, the entire tub will have to be torn out. 3. Shortly after the jetted tub was installed, the motor stopped working. I contacted the tub manufacturer, who told me it was under warranty and gave me the name of a company to come out and look at it. When the guy came out, he told me there was no GFI outlet for the motor and that he could declare the warranty void, but he knew it was the contractor?s fault and not mine. He said the contractor should have hired a licensed electrician to install an outlet, and if he had, the electrician would have installed a GFI to begin with. He said he would pretend he didn?t see it so I could have an electrician come install one. 4. When Tri-County?s owner first made the sales pitch, he told me I should remove the ceiling exhaust fan and replace it with a light fixture on a dimmer switch. I told him I didn?t need that, but he insisted and convinced me he was right. What kind of plumbing contractor tells people to remove an exhaust fan from a bathroom???? Several years later, I had to get the building department of my city involved to make Tri-County come back out and find out why the bathroom was freezing cold. He went up into the attic and found that his employee had never put the insulation back over top of where the exhaust fan had been, so freezing cold air was just pouring down the bathroom wall. 5. A couple weeks ago I found out that the contractor did not use the proper plastic connections when moving the toilet. Apparently there are two types of plastics, like PVC, and they are not supposed to be connected together. 6. No permits were obtained for work that my city stated were required. It is thoroughly disheartening to spend $10,000 and have this kind of result. Hopefully more people will post of their experiences here on Angie's List. I can't believe I'm the first. Hopefully I'm not the last.
