[Member name removed] purchased his $99 Chimney Sweep & Safety Inspection on Saturday, February 15th, 2014. He did not, however, provide a phone number for us to contact him to schedule his purchase. So, on Monday, February 17th, when we arrived in the office, we sent [member name removed] a message through Angie’s List message center , stating he did not provide a telephone number with his purchase, so please contact us at his earliest convenience to schedule his appointment & we provided our office phone number. This is the reason [member name removed] had to contact us to schedule his Chimney Sweep. We did not hear from [member name removed] until Thursday, February 20th. By then, through no fault of our own, all 3 dates he had chosen as his open availability to do the Chimney Sweep on had passed. Had [member name removed] provided a phone number, we would have contacted him within the allotted 2 days that are required by Angie’s List, as is standard practice. On Thursday, February 20th, [member name removed] called us, & we scheduled his Chimney Sweep & Safety Inspection for our first available appointment, on March 4th, with an arrival time between 11am & Noon. [member name removed] was very friendly, & accepted the appointment with ease, there were no issues whatsoever at this time. On Thursday, February 20th, about ten minutes after my initial conversation with [member name removed], he called the office back, stating he had just talked to his wife, & she said they were having a dinner party this coming Tuesday, & the sweep absolutely had to be done by then. So, once again, I double checked our availability, looking for a possible way to accommodate [member name removed] request, but unfortunately, the current appointment set for him, on March 4th, was my first available & I could not do any earlier, but would be happy to call him with any cancellations. [member name removed] then became very irrational, & rude, demanding I move my currently scheduled customers around to accommodate him, because he told me, as he saw it, he had already purchased the Chimney Sweep, the service was his, & I better find a day & time that suits him, exactly when he needs it done. I then apologized again to [member name removed], & told him I did not find it ethical to inconvenience my other paid customers, by asking them to move their already scheduled appointments around, due to his dinner party & availability, & there was nothing further I could do, but keep the original set appointment. He then became even more irate, & verbally abusive, cursing & yelling “You better find a time to do this cleaning I have already purchased, before our fucking dinner party on Tuesday, or my Angie’s List Review will absolutely reflect this bullshit!!” So, once again, I apologized to [member name removed], offering to get the owner on the phone, & he said no, absolutely not, he did not want to speak with the damn owner. I then told him I was sorry he was so unhappy with our service & our availability so far, & he could absolutely request a refund-But before I could even finish my sentence, [member name removed] started yelling “Just STOP! STOP! Shut up! Shut up! You know what? Just forget it! Just cancel it, forget everything!!” & [member name removed] hung up the phone on me. So, of course, I canceled the appointment. Then, on March 4th, we get a voicemail, from [member name removed], on March 4th, asking why we were a no-call no-show to his 11am appointment. So, the owner, Patrick, called [member name removed] back, & said "[member name removed], it was my understanding that you no longer wanted our services , so we do not have you on the schedule anymore." Because when he had last talked to Stephanie, in the office, he said "Just forget it, cancel the appointment & you will be getting the worst Angie's List review you've ever gotten!" He said he never said that, but I was in the next office during and heard that part of the conversation. He said I was lying and "full of [profanity removed]." After that he requested to be scheduled anyway on our next available appointment. I told him I did not want to do business with him at this point and to request a refund with Angie’s List. He was shocked and asked why? I said he had been very rude to my secretary in the office, being so verbally abusive that she broke down after the conversation ended & he was being incredibly rude to me at this moment, & he was not someone I wanted to do business with. He started yelling at me, saying he was going to report me to the Labor Board for creating a hostile work environment for my employees if they cry that easily. I then told him "Sir please do whatever you feel needs to be done." & he again, started screaming at me "Are you threatening me? Oh my God! Oh My God! I cannot believe you are threatening me!!" & before I could say anything further, he hung up on me. I am saddened by this entire experience, in 22 years in the customer service industry I have never seen any customer react in this manner, especially over a situation that was out of our control. His behavior was so verbally threatening and his comments so unsettling that everyone listening on our end agreed that I needed to call the Monroe Police Department and file a report. Thank you again to all our customers who put quality first and have a little flexibility with scheduling during this unusual winter.
