From the beginning the experience did not go well. The contractor kept delaying the start dates, which we were initially fine with, although they left a pile of weeds in the yard enough to fill a lawn care bag which I had to do myself (in spite paying them $40 dollars an hour for three people for labor costs). Once they did come to do the work, they did not do what we asked, placing river rock and liner in a place that we asked for mulch. I asked Doug about this and he said they would bring some flower boxes over and never did. They also left an area of exposed window in our bedroom and I told him we were concerned about the privacy issues and he said he would plant an azalea and a cherry tree. He told me the cherry trees were expensive and I paid him an extra $400 dollars that day for the tree, the bush and the labor. I requested an itemized breakdown of the bill, which I never received. The planting work was not done, in spite of multiple calls. On August 7, he came and planted a small azalea bush but no cherry tree. When I finally did reach him (only after threatening to file a petition in small claims court), he told me it had been too hot all summer to plant th cherry tree (which was not true, we had a very mild summer in Cleveland) and that his personal life was very busy. He did offer to refund me $150 for the cherry tree and provide me with an itemized breakdown of the work, items which I am still waiting to receive. We were very disappointed with the quality of the work, our communications with contractor, the fact that we were grossly overcharged for sloppy work and work that was never done, and the contractor's lack of professionalism. We had hoped for a beautiful backyard in which to enjoy our summer and ended up with a constant argument and a real mess. I would recommend avoiding this landscaper if you are looking to have work done.
