The installation of the new carpet went very well. Installers showed at their scheduled time and took the amount of time we were told to expect. They had me verify the carpet in the van against the sample from the store before installation began. They moved the heavier pieces of furniture out and returned it after installation was complete. It was a great and courteous crew of 3 installers. We had about 350 sf of carpet installed including stairs.

The installer came from Cincinnati which seemed rather strange to me, and it delayed the day the door could be installed because the company only came to Columbus on certain days.  The installer was very professional but the initial installation was not satisfactory as there were gaps at the bottom of the door.  I kind of think he might have left it that way had I not said that those gaps at the bottom were not satisfactory.  He took the door off and tried again and it fits much better now, although I wouldn't say it's perfect. The bottom strip doesn't totally cover the bottom of the door and it doesn't always close completely on it's own.  I love the door though and I would probably buy from Home Depot again.

Got a quote for carpet installation. Ended up not going through with it because it was too expensive.

I shopped three different stores and Home Depot had the machine that came closest to what I wanted and who also had a knowledgable sales person.

They did great. We are thrilled with the result. I really liked they computerized design and plan that allowed us to visualize the new kitchen.

Chain saw, safety equipment and lubricant was provided. Home Depot was very helpful in their instruction and quality of product was great, as they apply new chain on every rental. Cut three trees down in my backyard and didn't have one problem. Would defently rent from them again.

The carpet installers were fine, no major issues. This report is more of a warning for the laminate floor installation. It was a disaster from start to finish. First, we had the hardest time getting samples from the store to check out and ended up purchasing our own from the Pergo website. Then after the estimate was completed, we were told that our floors were not level enough for wood or tile so they would have to charge us over $1000 more to level the floors. We opted to go ahead despite this extra cost. When the contractor arrived he told us that we needed more supplies that were not included in what we already paid. He tried to get us to pay HIM DIRECTLY to buy these supplies saying it would be cheaper than paying Home Depot. We refused since we had already paid for the estimate which guaranteed any additional supplies that they missed would be covered. Home Depot ended up giving us these supplies. The contractor poured a self leveling compound all over our kitchen and down the hallway. During this process, he poured it through the vents and we ended up with big piles of grey goop all over our basement. The main body of work looked fine, but apparently he ran out of trim for the thresholds. Our flooring was a special order, but rather than tell us about the issue and order more trim, the contractor glued and nailed oak thresholds on our walnut floor. I immediately noticed it and complained and was told "it's glued down now, you should have told me there was a problem before I glued it down". We went to Home depot and demanded that the new thresholds be ordered but they never came in and we never got the ugly thresholds replaced. The contractor used my good guest hand towels to wipe up the glue and leveling compound leaving them ruined in my sink. He also left all of the boxes and trash laying around the living room and in our garage. The cherry on top--the half bath on our main level was redone necessitating a plumber to come out and reset the toilet after the job was done (another of Home Depot's subcontractors). He installed the toilet incorrectly (he forgot to remove the old foam seal before placing a new wax seal) resulting in a slow leak which we just found last month (3+ years later). We contacted Home Depot, they would not pay to correct this issue because it has been more than a year. We had mold in our basement which we had to pay to clean and some kind of aquatic plant growing into the pipe which grew roots under the pergo resulting in warped planks. I will never allow Home Depot to do a job at my home again.

They blew it 3 times. They ordered the wrong size cabinets. They ordered the wrong edging on the desk top. They ordered the wrong finish on the cabinets. This whole fiasco took over 2 months. They were very unprofessional and made it plain that they just didn't care. Then, I had to fight with the store manager to get a refund. After I complained to the home office they tried to send me a store coupon. Yeah right, like I might ever step foot in the store again.

Everything went very smoothly. The original flooring we had was no longer available, but the sales rep in the store (can't remember her name) helped me find another special order brand that was an exact match. She was very knowledgeable about the whole process of selecting and installation and was very clear about all the costs. I had a promotional offer for 0% interest for 12 months if I used my home depot credit card. The offer was to expire the day I went into the store. I wasn't going to actually pay for my order though until they measured the space and confirmed what needed to be ordered. She worked it out so that I got the deal anyway. The contractors involved for measuring, installation and toilet replacement (I had to have the toilet taken out in the bathroom) were all prompt, clean and courteous. The install was completed within one month from the time I entered the store. The flooring was also on sale 20% off when I ordered.

Water Heater Service

Overall everything was fine. The price for the water heater and installation were good. Installation was on time and uneventful. Everything seems to be working fine. The only problem had to do with the lifetime service contract that was included with the heater. No information on the service contract was included with the paperwork that came with the heater and I wasted a lot of time on the phone trying to make sure that it was activated without success, being transferred from one person to another and given one toll free number after another. In the end the information came in the mail a few days later, but no one at Home Depot seemed to be aware that this would be the case.

Our original cost estimate was done incorrectly, and we feel a "bait and switch" scheme was attempted after demolition had already occurred. The project management of installation of cabinets, lighting, plumbing and everything but countertops was a complete and total disaster. The expediter, Lori, never answered her phone, or returned our calls. We tried to resolve our issues by contacting the store management, but that was not successful. However, we still do not have working lights after a month after repeated calls to Home Depot. We went without running water for almost 10 days due to a Home Depot miscommunication and ended up paying for our own plumber to complete the work. A 5 day kitchen installation turned into a 8 week and counting process. It is a shame we paid for an unfinished job that we will end up paying our own electrician to finish. We would never recommend Home Depot for remodeling.

The Home Depot part of the experience was very good. The Home Depot sales staff is knowledgeable of the product. One is able to collaborate the product operational details online. The delivery contractor chosen by Home Depot is a slightly different story. While they placed the appliances in their proper location, the delivery portion of the project was not completed with the utmost of grace nor style. They did not appear to understand they were to remove and dispose of the old appliances. They did not appear to understand the bill of sale, which detailed the specific items included in the sale, and those tasks which they were to complete at time of delivery. The delivery sub-contractor certainly did not operate at the same level of service as did the store based sales staff.

My house has a very small access stairway to my basement, so the current large sized dryers will not fit. I was lucky to find a Maytag compact dryer at Home Depot (after much searching in other stores). They had the dryer in stock and I was able to take it home immediately.

An associate at Home Depot showed us our options and explained the pros and cons of each. We ended up buying a door repair kit and replacing the bottom of the door. The associate explained the process from start to finish and made it a very easy job.

After coming back a second day because there was NO ONE!? in the store that could go over a quote with me, I spent 45 minutes at the store teaching basic math to two employees (one of whom was the manager) before finally convincing them that, yes, the quote they were giving me was higher than the advertised price. After that headache, the installers were two hours late (with no courtesy call). The store did manage to track them down for me. The actual install went fine and we are happy with the finished product, but there were too many headaches to recommend them.

Doris Aspery is a Certified Kitchen Designer whose services are available by appointment to those buying cabinets and countertops through Home Depot. We had multiple appointments over a six month period because of indecision on our part, and she was patient and willing to rework the plans until we were satisfied. She knows what fits where, and how to work with non custom sizes in an old house kitchen. We had talked to high end design build firms and specialty kitchen companies and received equally good advice from Doris. The cabinets arrived in perfect condition and fit into our 85 year old oddly shaped kitchen. We did not use Home Depot installation services. So far our kitchen looks like it cost double the amount we spent.

They were really great. They explained how to operate it and how to change the codes and everything. The installation went very quickly. We've purchased two garage door openers/installations through the Home Depot and were pleased both times. Approximate cost is for labor only.
