Company came out and repaired and painted ceiling where a leaking roof caused water damage on my family room ceiling. They also explored where the leak was coming from and put flashing over the area where water was getting in. Also replaced a few pieces of rotting wood. They were very professional and on time. I felt they were very fair and did quality work.
Description of Work: Repaired leaking roof.

Rich and his assistant did a great job of setting expectations for price, timing and number of days required for the work. They proactively communicated with us throughout the project and worked with a sense of urgency. They met all deadlines and treated us with respect and priority. I would recommend this company for any home renovation project.
Description of Work: Complete renovation of 2 full bathrooms and replace vanity top/sink/faucet in half bathrrom
We met with several contractors (one of whom told us that we needed to spend at least $50,000 on our kitchen) but not only was Rich the most affordable but he was also the one who listened to what we wanted. He's a man of few words but he directed us in the right direction every time. He was prompt and flexible For instance, in the middle of the project we decided we wanted to add insulation in our kitchen walls. He got back to us that day regarding price and how extra time it would take. The project took longer than expected but in the end we are very happy with the kitchen.
Description of Work: We hired Premier to do a kitchen remodel which included new everything - cabinets, counters, plumbing, electrical, flooring, etc. We changed the layout of the kitchen which required moving the gas line for the stove and we also upgraded our electrical service. We added insulation in the walls which needed to be blown in.

Description of Work: I had SEVERAL 6 foot tall IKEA Expedit shelving units... I wanted them attached to a wall... even though they sat on the floor I was concerned that they would tip over.... Rich was EXTREMELY PROFESSIONAL... instead of just attaching them to the wall, Rich made a platform for the cabinets and then attached them to the wall. This was not an easy project... First, he had to work around (an unexpected) HVAC system behind the wall... the floor was VERY UNLEVEL... plus he had to get the work done quickly.. (I live in an apartment and the neighbors DO NOT LIKE NOISE). The final result was BEAUTIFUL... AND somehow he also fixed the floor. Prior to the installation, the floor , on either side of the wall (I share this wall with a neighbor) would pop/crack/squeak loudly when someone walked on it... after the cabinets were installed, both my neighbor and I noticed that we could walk on the floor (on either side of the wall) and it was WONDERFULLY SILENT. Rich was also VERY HONEST... I accidently paid him too much and he returned the amount I had overpaid immediately.... Needless to say... I would hire Rich again.
Very quick, professional, efficient with showing us how to use the shelves in about 2 hours time.
Description of Work: Installed shelving.

Richard Link walked off the job on 05-05-2010; he was not fired. At no time between 05-05-2010 and 08-01-2010 (89 days) did Richard make any attempt to contact me. It wasn’t until 11:25AM on 08-02-2010 (90 days) when I heard from him in the form of e-mail. Richard indicated “I received your complaint on Angie's List. Just wanted to follow up with you about your deck. Would you be interested in talking about a possible solution to some of the issues?”. I responded to Rich indicating I would be willing to talk with him but not before I heard back from my attorney. In an e-mail from Rich at 1:05PM, he indicated that 6:00PM worked for him if in fact I’d heard back from y attorney by then and would be able to call. With that said, why is he saying that he had previously attempted to contact me (via phone and e-mail) when in fact he hadn’t until the day of his response to my Angieslist.com rating? Furthermore, why is he telling the Angieslist.com forum that as of 3:00PM he had not heard back from me or my attorney? Rich picked 6:00PM for us to talk; yet at 3:00PM he’s making it sound like I’m blowing him off? Another example of Rich’s variations of the truth coupled with outright lies. Regarding permits, I have verified with the Grove City Building Department that the application for the permit (submitting of plans) occurred on 04-27-2010. Rich indicating the permit was approved on this date is an outright lie. The permit plans were not ready for pick up until 04-30-2010 because that is the date they were approved. So with this I add – why were the permit plans not submitted until 04-27-2010 when our contracted project completion date was 05-01-2010? Because Rich didn’t apply/submit his Contractor Registration with the Grove City Building Department until 04-23-2010 – just 5 business days before our contracted project completion date. Our contract was signed on 04-16-2010, so why did Rich wait one full week before submitting his application to register to work in Grove City? Rich indicates that he notified me that the Grove City Building Department would not approve my plans as originally submitted. Well – sort of true. He did notify me of this the evening of 05-05-2010. At no time prior to this date was this communicated to me – in any form. I would like to point out some facts that I either wasn’t privy to on the day of the discussion – or just didn’t come to mind because of the shock I was experiencing in what Rich was telling me. So if the Grove City Building Department would not approve my plans as originally submitted – a. When was this communicated to me? Not until 05-05-2010. b. When did we sit down and discuss a work-around to the situation? We never did. c. Where are the revised plans? Nope. d. When was our contract amended to note such changes? It never was – because it had never been discussed as I’ve indicated. After all, assuming Rich is telling the truth and we had discussed it, then the contracted would’ve been amended, right? Section 4 (Project Specification) of our Contract specifies “Any changes or variations from the drawings and specifications must be made in writing, describing the changes and any additional charges for such change”. The contract wasn’t amended because I was never informed of this information prior to 05-05-2010. e. Why is the Grove City Building Department telling me they never rejected any plans that were submitted for our contract and that the conversation about the utility location never took place? I also find it unprofessional of Rich and take offense to his comment regarding the plan changes that were not previously communicated to me. First, on a deck with an overall perimeter of 24’x26’, a 7” in reduction in drop is significant considering there were only two steps planned to begin with. The intent of a 2-tier deck is to have two separate entertaining areas. Why would I be “pleased” that I’m going to have a single step down from one tier to another? This doesn’t give two entertaining areas and is not what we wanted or agreed to in our contract. Furthermore, Rich never offered to talk to the Building Department about easements or any other aspect of getting us the deck we wanted. Rich virtually stood there with an arrogant stance while my partner and I were brainstorming alternative ideas that could get us back on track to what we agreed to contractually. He wasn’t being proactive in any way. All of the suggested remedies were offered by us – not Rich. And all Rich did was respond with the fact that any deviations would cost me more money and time. After a good 30+ minutes of discussing (not arguing) the situation, we reluctantly agreed to the changes Rich had already made for the sake of time and money. We weren’t happy – don’t get me wrong – but we were cordial. It wasn’t until we were discussing the fact that Rich used three screw colors and types on our cedar composite material. Approx. 45% of the screws were gray square head, another 45% were cedar square head and the remaining 10% were tan Phillips. Rich offered to replace them at my expense. It wasn’t until after we went back and forth a couple times (me saying he was going to replace them and I wasn’t paying for it – and he saying you’re paying for it or we’re not doing it) that I became “angry and frustrated”. I went on about a 30-60 second tangent about his shoddy craftsmanship and shay character at which time Rich said “if you don’t like the quality of the work we’re doing I can go” to which I responded “go”. He started packing up. As I was walking away from my back yard I stopped and asked Rich if he was building us the deck we agreed to in our contract. He responded “I’m getting it as close as I can”. I responded “that’s all my attorney will need to know”. We did not speak another word via any form of communication until August 2, 2010. To summarize, space constraints only allow me to give you a small sampling of my overall experience with Rich. Rich talks a big talk and is genuinely interested in getting you hooked. He approached me for the job (even though he wasn’t registered to work in the city of Grove City). Rich refers to “his employees”, or “his crew”, or “his guys” or “his workers”. Telling me how hard they work, how detail oriented they all are, how they work in the rain, etc. He had one middle-aged gentleman who did 75% of the work that was done at our property; the remaining 25% was performed by Rich himself. Rich speaks of possession of all contracts, documents, permits, plans, a construction log and “other information”. While this may true, I can assure you none of this stated “proof” has any validity to the claims Rich is making. I have all electronic forms of communication between Rich and myself. Rich has notes he wrote himself in a construction log? I can’t change electronic copies of conversation exchanges. Rich can write down whatever he wants. Furthermore, I have countless digital pictures taken right after Rich abandoned the job. I have numerous video files that were taken as well. Additionally, I have our phone conversation from 08-02-2010 recorded (yes, he knew he was being recorded). In closing, I wanted to point out that while Rich claims to be such a good person and cares so much about his customers. Rich is full of variations of the truth, lies and outright deceit. Richard Link trespassed on my property on 08-03-2010. Local police were called and responded to the scene but Rich had since left the premises. Three witness accounts were given to police who logged the incident for future reference. Richard Link also sent an e-mail after his visit to our property threatening us that if we didn’t pay him more money by this Friday he would pursue collections against me for an additional $4,697.20. To summarize, Rich abandoned our job on 05-05-2010 leaving an unusable deck and our yard uninhabitable by our dogs. Rich made no attempt whatsoever to contact me to discuss a resolution until after he was notified of the Angieslist.com rating on 08-02-2010 (90 days later). All composite materials used on our project – in addition to the stairs Rich built – do not meet code and are unwarranted by the manufacture due to improper techniques in installation. All materials Rich used were rendered sub par by his company and therefore must be replaced. We contracted this job with Rich for $8,254. Rich had already been paid $4,697.20 prior to abandoning our job and now is demanding $4,697.20 more. To date, this job has cost us in excess of $17,500. Rich documented his lies in letters to my credit card company, in text messages to me, in e-mails to me – and finally to YOU via Angieslist.com My intent in being as thorough in my report is an attempt to protect YOU. I too used Angieslist.com to check Rich out when I hired him. I wish at that time I would’ve caught the fact that the many of his ratings were submitted on the same dates. This was an $8,254.00 job and has already cost us in excess of $17,500.00. Buyer beware.
Description of Work: Was contracted to tear off railing and deck boards off existing 14'x18' deck, add new 2nd tier extending 8' on one side and 10' on another, with a total of two sets of stairs - one to Tier 1 (replace existing stairs) and one to Tier 2. Completed deck to be 24'x26' perimeter (two-tiers) finished with TimberTech Reliaboard composite. Actual work performed consisted of tear off railing and deck boards from existing deck. Dug post holes for 2nd tier addition. Laid TimberTech Reliaboard composite on existing deck. To summarize (and I have all documentation to substantiate my claims): Summary of issues with work performed: 1.Time line. I cannot comprehend how a contractor can submit permit plans 4 days prior to scheduled completion date and expect that the plans would be reviewed and approved next-day. 2.Workmanship. The following are areas of concern that I addressed with Rich that were left unresolved: a.Screws. In installing TimberTech Reliaboard "cedar", Rich used gray, tan and cedar screws. Some square-head; some Phillips. b.North stairs. Aside from not conforming to Schedule A of our contract, they were not built to code as explained in person by Michael Chinn from the Grove City Building Department. c.Deck board multi-tone. Due to the fact the composite decking was laid without regard to the manufacturer’s directional notch, the deck board appears multi-toned. Per Michael Chinn this too deviates from the City’s stance that all materials must be installed as per manufacturer’s specifications. d.Deck board span. The deck board was laid without regard to the manufacturer’s specifications in that not all joists were 16” on center. Per Michael Chinn this too deviates from the City’s stance that all materials must be installed as per manufacturer’s specifications. This also voids manufacturer’s warranty. e.Other noticeable aesthetic flaws. Aside from multi-colored screwed used to lay the composite decking, there were other obvious aesthetic issues that didn't affect the security of the structure; but demonstrate poor workmanship for a job such as this: i.Irregular screw spacing. ii.Irregular screw alignment. 3.Lack of professionalism and honesty. In addition to violated the terms of his own contract (section 6) “Contractor warrants the Project to be free from defects and workmanship arising within one (1) year of completion, Rich failed to conduct himself in a reasonably professional and honest manner: a.Rich failed to provide (reasonable and accurate) updates throughout the project. b.Rich failed to conduct himself in a professional manner when discussing the concerns I had regarding the screws used on the project. c.Rich failed to contact me prior to having over $2,000 worth of composite materials removed from my property less than 37 hours after leaving the job. d.Rich failed to contact me at all since walking off my property on May 5. e.Rich outright lied to the credit card company when I filed a dispute for the last payment made of $3,556.80 by indicating that I had changed the design layout mid-way through the project. The only thing that was done right by Rich was the tear-down of the old wood stairs, decking and rails. The stairs Rich installed have to be ripped out and reconstructed. The decking has to be taken up so that the joists can be modified to ensure they’re 16” on center. The decking also had to be taken up due to the fact the deck boards were multi-colored because they were laid wrong. The post holes were dug but extra labor has to be put into using those holes to ensure the concrete that was placed in them didn’t render them unusable. Rich is currently in possession of $4,697.20 of my money when all he did right was to remove the old decking. We are in the process of pursuing legal action against him. My intent is to protect other consumers from falling prey to the likes of Richard Link and Premier Construction & Rehab.

Response from Premier Construction & Rehab
My name is Richard Link and I am the President of Premier Construction. First of all, we take all member comments very seriously and I am sad to hear that the Member is not completely satisfied with the work we completed. It is our goal to make every customer 100% satisfied with the work we complete. All of my employees conduct themselves in a honest and professional manor. Prior to this report we have an excellent track record on Angie's List and stand behind our work 100%. I personally attempted to contact Mr. McCoy via phone and email after he fired our company from his deck project. Mr. McCoy stated, via email, that he would speak to me if his attorney approved it, as of August 2nd 2010 at 3PM, I have not heard back from Mr. McCoy or his attorney. I am willing to do whatever it takes to make Mr. McCoy happy with the work we completed on his deck. I keep all contracts, documents, permits, plans, and other information associated with all of our customers, so I too have documentation to support all the information listed below. I also keep a detailed construction log that is admissible in a court of law. This log gives a detailed description of all the day to day activities that went on during this project. I will address all the issues that Mr. McCoy brought up in the paragraphs that follow. On April 27th, 5 days prior to the scheduled completion date of his deck project all of the tear out work was completed (old handrail, 2 sets of stairs, 252 Sq Feet of old decking, and 76 Ln Feet of handrail), all old materials were disposed of off site, 252 Sq Feet of new Timbertech Decking was installed on the existing deck frame, 12 post holes were dug for the new deck addition, one set of stairs were built, and 5 new handrail posts were installed. The permit for this project (regulating the building process for the new deck addition (2nd tier and handrail addition) was finally approved on 4-27 however, it was not ready for pick up until 4-30-10. While at his residence I personally notified Mr. McCoy that it took the city 3 days to approve the permit and it would take us 4-5 extra days to complete his project. I also notified Mr. McCoy that The Building Department in Grove City would not approve his plans as originally submitted. I informed him we could not build the deck as he wanted because it was going to interfere with the following; buried underground high voltage electrical wires (post hole location), American Electric and Power's utility easement to read his meter, and a portion of the handrail was going to be directly blocking the electric meter. The changes were going to make the finished deck 7inches higher than we initially planned. I know that 7 inches is not much, but I told Mr. McCoy that I would talk with the city building department about the easements and we could redesign the deck, but it would take more time to make these changes and get them approved through the city. After learning about these issues that were beyond my control Mr. McCoy became very angry and frustrated. At the same time that we were discussing the issues with the utility lines in his yard I began to speak to him about the deck screws we installed in the new Timbertech composite. These screws were installed to fasten the new Timbertech deck boards to his existing deck frame. According to records maintained by the city of Grove city the original deck was built prior to 1998, which makes it over 12 years old. The existing frame of the deck showed some signs of weathering, but did not warrant completely replacing all of the deck framing. I explained to Mr. McCoy that because of the existing deck frame condition we need to use longer screws to fasten the composite deck boards to the deck frame properly. We would need to remove all the existing 2 1/2 inch deck screws and use new 3 1/2 inch deck screws. I also explained that we would need to use twice as many decking screws as initially planned because of the condition of the deck frame. We discussed this in detail and I explained this process would cost an additional $100 for the extra screws. I told him there would be no extra charges for the additional labor (time it would take to remove the old screws and install the new screws). At this point Mr. McCoy lost his temper and began to yell at me. He got into my personal space and began to use profanity. I told Mr. McCoy that I felt threatened by his actions and did not feel safe on his property. With the safety of my construction crew in mind I told Mr. McCoy we would not work for him if he was going to treat me or my employees in this manor. He then said I was fired and he was going to call his attorney. This was on 5/5/2010. To date no attorney has contacted me or anyone from my company. In regards to his issues with the deck board span my company was not contracted to alter the existing deck frame. We were contracted to install timbertech deck boards onto the existing deck frame. We installed the deck boards as directed by the homeowner. All of the deck boards are installed according to the manufactures live load requirements. We were contracted to purchase all materials and complete all labor for the project. Once Mr. McCoy fired my company we removed all tools, materials, and trash from the jobsite immediately.

I was unable to make up my mind when choosing a specific granite color and type. There so many colors to choose from it became a bit overwhelming. I wanted the counter top to blend well with the rest of the colors in my kitchen. Rich Link from Premier suggested going to the granite warehouse to look at full slabs of granite. We picked up a few samples from the warehouse and brought them back to my house. In the end he helped me pick the perfect color combination for my kitchen! The guys from Premier showed up on a Tuesday morning, removed the existing counter tops, plumbing, and tile back splash. I was amazed to come home from work in the evening to find that the old back splash was gone along with the old counter tops. Not only were they gone, but new counter tops were installed in their place! They really did an outstanding job!
Description of Work: I used Premier on another project at the end of last year and decided to call them when it was time to replace my kitchen counter tops and back splash. Premier installed a granite counter top, stainless steel sink, and tile back splash.

It all went so smoothly. Premier Construction & Rehab is a joy to work with. I was so impressed with their knowledge and professionalism. I really felt like I could trust them. I asked Mr. Link for some business cards because I want to share his company with my friends!
Description of Work: Premier Construction & Rehab replaced my wind-damaged roof at my cottage on Orchard Island at Buckeye Lake. I was so upset when I opened-up my cottage this spring and found that mother nature had wreaked havoc on my roof over the winter. I began calling roofers trying to get someone willing to boat out to the island and give me an estimate. After about 5 or 6 calls I tried Richard Link with Premier Construction & Rehab. Mr. Link was formerly with Ideal Home Improvement and when I discovered that he had branched off from Ideal, I just had to give him a call because he did great work for me last year. Richard came right out, gave me a very competitive estimate (the others gave me guestimates from over the phone because they weren't willing to come out and look at the job) Premier Construction completed the job in 3 days and that includes driving to and from the job on a pontoon boat in Columbus spring weather! Not only did he replace the damaged roof, but he repaired rotted tresses and made the roof structurally sound. The house is about 80 years old. The roof was matched perfectly to the other part of the roof which was not damaged. All of the debris was removed and I am extremely happy with the service. I am so glad Mr. Link has started his own company, Premier Construction & Rehab he is a true professional.
