The worker was prompt, courteous and did an excellent job. They did not force me to buy any additional parts (I had my own drywall) and there were no hidden fees or extras. I have had several contractors working at my house over the past 4 years and this was definitely one of the top performers.
Description of Work: My house had accumulated some needed drywall repair jobs over the past few years related to plumbing problems and a handrail breaking loose from the wall. Took advantage of the Angie's list deal "$99 for 4 Man Hours of Drywall/Plaster Repair!" They touched up/covered the small water damage, replaced some larger pieces in the ceiling and patched the holes where the handrail left gaping holes.

I was pleased and they did a good job. We are in the process of having them do another job for us. Their cleanup was good compared to other service companies that I have had come out; I thought they did a good job of cleaning up after themselves. They were competitively priced, timely, efficient and did an overall good job. We got three different quotes and they were all comparable.
Description of Work: I used Curb Appeal Painting to remove wallpaper in my foyer and then paint the walls and ceiling. They also did all the trim work including painting 4 doors going to the bathrooms and bedrooms. They also painted all the window frames in the house.

They arrived on time when they said they would. Did an excellent job in the areas of drywall repair (I had a 'big deal' coupon for this part) and completed the painting in two days. The cleanup was done very well and color choices were exactly what I wanted. The rooms really look fresh now.

Bought coupon for $99.00 thinking that's all I would use. I had wall and ceiling damage from ice backup and leaks around the chimney. They came to the house and quoted me on fixing all the damage. I was satisfied with the quoted price. They repaired ceiling damage in my entrance hallway, ceiling and wall damage around dining room window, wall damage in bathroom and wall and ceiling damage in living area. I felt comfortable enough to leave them alone in the house as I had to go to work. They showed up on time and cleaned up so you couldn't tell they were even there. I was a litle dissatified with the plaster repiair on living room celing in one area as it didn't match as close as I thought it could. They came back the next morning and fixed it to my satisfaction. It took them 3 days to do all the work.. I was very happy with their professionalism.
Description of Work: Very satisfied. Very professional company. Would recommend them to anyone.

Great, until now. I requested quotes on additional work throughout the house, but to date with No Response ??? Date: 01/07/2013
Description of Work: They had a special for 4 hours of labor. They came out to review the job in a timely manner. The job was to replace a 1'x5' section and a 1'x2' section of lower drywall ( that had been previously damaged by water from a roof leak many years past ), tape, plaster, sand, and prep the general area in preparation for painting ( laundry room ). They came out to perform the work in a timely manner ( 12/21/2012 ). They were professional and cleaned up after themselves. Note : Due to the special , it was a Great deal. I requested them to quote on a couple of other jobs ( I'm sure that's what the special's intent was ) because they did such a good job on my original ( special) job. They reviewed the additional work that we desired to have done that day before they left.

From start to finish, only one word...."EXCELLENT" by everyone....Thank you so very very much
Description of Work: Curb Appeal was very prompt, from the initial contact, to the job review, to the actual work being done was quick. Everyone was so pleasant, courteous, and kind. Very nice demeanor with everyone. The work itself was top notch and above. Vinnie/Vinny "Pardon me on the spelling" was a Master at his craft, and the word was completed not only timely but he explained some things to me that I didn't know. As a Home Do It Yourself type, I always enjoy learning something new. He was a great teacher. If it weren't for being out of commission medically, I would have tackeled this myself, but looking back, I dont think I would have, he did such a nice job, no mess or dust, and he cleaned up and used drop clothes everywhere. I recommend Curb Appeal 100% God Bless you Guys and Happy Holidays, Mike

Curb Appeal is a wonderful company to work with. Very thorough and professional all the way from estimating through the project to post-job inspection. Great guys, great work. Also very flexible. I wanted to "sweat equity" the project to save some money, so they quoted and did the 2nd and 3rd floors, and I'm doing the garage and first floor all the way around. So they quoted it as such and in fact on their last day, not only got me the paint I needed at their price but left me some rollers and other necessities to help me do my part of the job. I interviewed and got estimates from a few other companies and am really glad I chose Curb Appeal!

I looked at several painting contractors in the area, and got quotes for several as well. Curb Appeal's quote was in line with the others, but their quality seemed better. I was very impressed with some of the recent jobs that Curb Appeal had done in my neighborhood, which is why I selected them. They didn't disappoint, and the painting job was just outstanding...and timely. The crew was experienced, detail oriented, and interested in my feedback. We've gotten many compliments from the neighbors since. I would highly recommend Curb Appeal, and plan to use them again in the future.

We were referred to Curb Appeal by friends who'd used them for interior painting. When i looked at their reviews on Angie's List they seemed very good. We called to make an appointment for an estimate. They were responsive and punctual and very professional. We told them what we wanted painted and pointed out some minor trim repairs that were needed. They said they could help us with that and also recommended a pressure wash on the house which was great, because that alone gave the exterior a fresh look. The estimate was spelled out and professionally printed out via laptop in his truck. He was friendly and helpful and really sold us on the company from our meeting. Their price was a little higher than some other quotes, but the professionalism and presentation at the time of the estimate won us over immediately. They sent a contractor to fix the minor trim issue. They pressure washed one day and came back another to paint the house trim, garage door, shutters and exterior doors. They came a third day at our convenience to do finish work and catch any spots that weren't done previously. They were able to work with our schedule and did a spectacular job. we are very pleased with the work and highly recommend them to others. We've gone with cheaper quotes in the past for other paint jobs and found that often the painter has underestimated the job. the quality of the work was not as good and the job ended up costing more because they found they needed to be there longer. Curb Appeal stuck to their estimate and there were no surprises.
Description of Work: We were looking to change the color of the trim on our home. We searched Angie's List and got referrals from friends for exterior painters. Specifically, we were looking to have painted the shutters, exterior doors, porch railing, garage door and a large bay window trim. there was one piece of trim that had rotted and also needed replacing. Curb Appeal painted the areas we asked professionally and timely. They also had a contractor replace the rotted trim piece. And they recommended and completed a complete exterior pressure washing. Additionally, we had hoped to have a shed painted as well, but the price was prohibitive at the time and Curb Appeal deleted it from the estimate.

Firstly, I spent a lot of time and a lot of energy trying to decide on which painting company to go with. I had a limited budget and a prior bad experience with a painting company (who did mediocre at best work on our window frames). So, in trying to find a company to paint (or stain, rather) our house exterior, I read through Angie's List reviews very carefully before deciding to give Curb Appeal Paining a call. Well, Andrew (one of the managers) from Curb came over shortly thereafter and we had a chat about what I was looking for (i.e. carpentry and exterior staining). He then provided me with a frankly surprisingly good estimate, and so I decided to sign on the dotted line... A few days later Rocky, who does carpentry for the company, got to work, replacing and repairing and nailing down the cedar shake shingles on all sides of our house. Prior to his work the shingles had been warped in many places, not to mention some of them just looked like they needed replacing (or so my father in law never stopped saying!) When Rocky was done however, the shingles all looked neat, flat and renewed for the most part. In addition to this, Rocky also found time to do a little extra job on our garage (namely, nailing down some loose boards and putting a new corner hinge on them). So, at the end of this phase of the job, we were feeling very confident about where it was headed... Then, along came the painting crew. (And yes, I did see all this happening, as I work from home). The four man team (and you do get the sense that they are a team!) came by to prep the house for painting. Once the cleaning / scraping was all done, the team arrived bright and early the next morning and got to work. I came outside a couple of times to have a look at how they were doing, and I was amazed to see how swiftly they were advancing. And, in fact, by the end of the day they had completely finished the house, which looked completely renewed in the evening sun. Now, some people might think that this means they were doing a rush job. But this was clearly not the case. I walked around the house with the foreman (Rob) and found only two tiny things (a shingle that needed nailing down and a couple of dabs of paint required in one place) in order for me to be confident in signing off on the job. The house was otherwise picture perfect and better frankly than I imagined could be achieved on my budget! When the team left, I kept walking around the house looking at it and marveling at the sheer precision of the paintwork (and precision really is the keyword here). I mean there is literally not one speck of paint anywhere that it shouldn't be - and conversely, there is not one speck of the house that should be painted but isn't! In other words, I could not be more pleased with the job that Rob and the guys did. Also, when my wife arrived home that night, she was also amazed that there were literally no paint chips etc. on the ground at all (when we got a job done with another painting company, we were picking chips out of the mulch for months afterwards!) I know this is a long review here, but I had to give as much detail here as possible as an extra way of saying thanks. When I pay for any big job on the house here, I am obviously paying for good workmanship. But almost as important to me is to pay for a service that won't be stressful or difficult. I feel like I got all of the above and more from Curb Appeal Painting. A smooth service, a great price and perfect workmanship. All in all, I am happy to say that I will only use this company for our house painting in the future, period.
Description of Work: We hired Curb Appeal to do some light carpentry work (on the exterior shingle siding), prior to staining the entire house exterior for us. And the experience, as you can read below, was literally perfect...

Although they were not the cheapest, I had used them in the past and was very pleased with the outcome so felt they were worth the price. I was right. They did an excellent job of preparing and staining our recently completed deck. From the advice I received on the best product type to use, to the professional work of their crew - I would not consider a painting job ever again without using this company. They are responsive when you have questions and do an excellent job of communication as the work progresses. We have a beautifully finished deck that we will enjoy for many years to come.

I contacted Curb Appeal in late June and met with Vinny. He came to the home to evaluate the job and prepare the quote. Vinny is a very personable gentleman. I'm sure that anyone that meets him will be impressed with his knowledge and professionalism. He gave me a quote that I thought was a little high, but based on Vinny and the limited time I had to get the job done, I accepted. My acceptance was partially based on the package that Curb Appeal provides with their quotes. In the package are about 35-45 references. What I did notice after I signed was that all but about 4 of the references were from the east side of town. Now that raised a question in my mind, but not enough to follow through. Vinny and his crew arrived on time (that was very critical as they only had about two + days to complete the job. Because the carpeting was being replaced as soon as the paint job was complete I told them this as I thought it might make their job a little easier. The only carpeting that was not being replaced was the carpet on the stairs leading to the basement. They were advised of this and were asked to protect the carpet on the stairs. Apparently they did not get that message. (Side note, Krud Kutter and a little elbow grease do a great job of getting paint out of a carpet). Vinny was there each morning to make sure his crew was on site and gave them instructions. Apparently they didn't hear them, which is hard to believe, as Vinny has a very distinct voice. There are paint splatters in most every room. Some are always expected, but what was left behind was too much. In fairness to Curb Appeal their policy is that you don't pay until you are completely satisfied. I did not do my job by inspecting everything carefully. I'm sure that Vinny and Curb Appeal would have made it right had I pointed out my concerns. In fact I did call Vinny a day or two later and pointed out there was paint on the vertical blinds. He tried to get it out but could not. They offered to replace the blinds and we came to an agreement regarding compensation. Because about 90% of the references they provide are from the other side of town I believe that their best people work in that area and the men that worked on my home were not the best. In fact their lack of attention to detail, when painting, was so obvious I cannot believe that these are the same people that are receiving the outstanding reviews based on other Angie's List ratings. As my rating will be skewed because I think Curb Appeal, including Vinny, most likely do a great job BECAUSE they offer that extra comfort level by not accepting payment until the customer is 100% satisfied. My review is more about the people that showed up to paint my home rather than the company as a whole. If you are on the east side of town you probably don't have a worry. If you are on the west side, just inspect the job carefully. You'll most likely be happy with the job in the end.
Description of Work: The job quoted was to paint the interior of my condominium. There are some vaulted ceilings (in 4 rooms) that figured into the price. The rooms were all painted the same color with the exception of one accent wall and the bath and kitchen being painted with an eggshell finish as opposed to the other rooms being painted in a flat latex. Total of nine rooms were painted this included the foyer and stairwell. My comments are based on the people that did the painting on my home. Perhaps they are not the best that Curb Appeal has to offer.I believe that this company can and will do a better job in most circumstances.

Response from CURB APPEAL PAINTING
Member- Thank you for your feedback. Your comments regarding your project are absolutely fair. We let you down on the quality of your project and I apologize for that. There should never have been paint splatter in the first place. But our 2nd mistake was in not inspecting the final clean up to ensure that it was done to both our and your standards. You are correct in assuming we would have happily returned to take care of any concerns you had, if you had called to inform us that we had made these errors. I'm sorry you had to deal with that. We are new to working on the west side of town and are updating our reference list to include more west side references. Our systems are the same for all projects and our crews all work on both sides of town. I can assure you our quality does not vary from east to west side. We take great pride in the quality of our work and try our best to learn from every mistake. The foreman of your project no longer works for Curb Appeal and we are actively working to prevent this sort of mistake in the future. If there are any outstanding issues on your project, please feel free to call us and we will be happy to make them right. Again, my apologies for your troubles. Curb Appeal offers the utmost professionalism from the estimate through the last brushstroke of the painting. A foreman is on site at all times to oversee the project and, in my case, he actually did the painting as well. He worked hard every day, painting with extreme efficiency, cleanliness, and care. When I needed to make a decision about areas of trim, for example, he offered useful suggestions and even volunteered to paint in one color and then change the color if I didn't like it. I couldn't ask for a higher quality paint job, better service, or more friendly interaction with the Curb Appeal staff.
