I appreciated their responsiveness and help through the process. I would recommend them to anyone dealing with an unexpected emergency. They took care of everything quickly and communicated very well.

First we were provided with a very detailed contract which outlined all the work to be performed complete with itemized charges. The work began on schedule with the workers being on time, courteous & professional. The work area was cordoned with dust barriers & cleaned up at the end of each day. The radiator (which had been knocked over) was removed to facilitate access to the damaged areas. The plaster & lath & 3 part molding was removed (in part to inspect if unseen damage had occurred) & cleared away. Structural beams & damaged facing were replaced as needed. New shingles were then installed on the outside wall. fiberglass batting insulation was then installed between the studs of the wall which was then covered in drywall. The molding was then reinstalled. The seams were spackled & sanded, then the walls & ceiling were painted. Broken pipe from the radiator was removed and replaced with new pipe and new valves were installed as well & the radiator itself was then installed and the system brought up to pressure to test the integrity.
No payment was accepted until all work was done to my complete satisfaction. I can't say how I could be happier.

UPDATE: The owner of B&D did call to discuss my complaint on Angie's List and was very apologetic. They were upset to learn that I felt taken advantage of and offered to give the money back for the work performed. It was great that they called to rectify the situation. I upgraded my rating accordingly. Original Review: They were calling me about doing the repairs to my rental property before I even knew there was a fire. This company is the contractor equivalent of an ambulance chaser. I still do not know how they got my number. Benny, the owner, called me on my way to see the fire and he gave me the sales pitch on how he can help me through the whole restoration process. I said I would speak with him about this later and I needed to see what happened first. When I got to the house Benny was waiting for me and he had already been in the house and "winterized" the pipes without my authorization. I put winterized in quotes because we still had pipes freeze. Then I get a bill for $300+, $177 of which was for an emergency service call. A call that I did not make and did not authorize. Basically what he provided was something I was perfectly capable of doing and would have done myself. The "service" they provided was covered by my insurance company, but I still feel taken advantage of. Then for the next two days I received call after call from Benny asking me if I was ready to have him start the repairs and that he can help me through this process. Finally, after telling him repeatedly that I wasn't ready for that, had other contractors to interview, the insurance company to speak with and that would call him, I told him he would not be doing the work.

We had things missing that I am not able to prove they took but they were gone after they left. Because of the fact the insurance took care of what work B & D RESTORATION INC did, we had to pay out of pocket for everything they supposedly did to be repaired by other companies.

I finally dismissed him in April. He thought he was finished. He wanted his money, even though he was not finished. He put new carpet over dirty floors. They didn't even put down drop cloths. My bathroom was put in wrong. I am now getting water from the bathroom down into the kitchen. My furniture was scratched, so I had to pay for it to be refinished. The knobs in the bathroom are on wrong. The plug stopper in the drain is not working. He replaced a porcelin tub with a plastic one. The vanity was put in wrong. The clothes chute is filled with charred and sotty clothes. I am reminded daily of the poor workmanship. The stress has begun to affect my health. All I want is justice. I don't want to see this happen to anyone else. He took all my clothes out of here. When I received them back, they had shrunk to a child's size.
