Arta Construction

Arta Construction is a solid A-Star company with respect to workmanship, professionalism and affordability. They did an excellent job for us during the Spring of 2016. Andy and his crew had proved to be professional, trade knowledgeable, skilful, reliable contractors and very accommodating people. He did what he was asked and delivered a completed job to the smallest detail. On top of this, he fixed previous contractors omissions at no cost to us. We will definitely hire Arta construction in our next project. Details: complete kitchen renovation involving installation of cabinets, flooring, wall tiling, electrical upgrades and fixture installations, installation of a washer dryer combo unit which required a building department permit, installation of bathroom vanity, wall tiles and toilet fixtures, and installation of marble window sills in four windows. Andy paid attention to our satisfaction and he was willing to redo work when he saw that we had changed our mind about a certain configuration we had initially chosen. Andy protected the apartment and common areas and when the job was completed, he left a very clean apartment for us to use. The cost of the renovation was about $25,000 out of which Andy was paid $15,500. (the cost of kitchen cabinets, bathroom vanity, toilet, tiles, and some other fixtures was ours).

We've just completed a long and somewhat tedious renovation process. As we are newbies at this, there was a lot of learning along the way. One of the better decisions that we made was going with Arta construction. Even before any of the work started we had two face to face meetings with Andy. During the 2nd discussion, he gave a clear idea of the work they will do and a general idea of the timeline. For most part we were able to keep to the timeline. Any delays were mostly due to us not having the materials and items ready on time. Note to anyone considering a renovation effort - make sure all your major items are picked out and ordered before the renovations - bathroom tiles, fixtures, vanities, sinks, faucets, shower doors etc. All items may not be in stock - as we learned the hard way, and this will mean your timeline will get pushed. Throughout the process, Andy was extremely accessible and was prompt with getting back on any issues. Whenever issues rose up, Andy and his team were very accommodating - even redoing a bathroom wall that was just tiled because the corner was not at 90 degrees. Another note on renovations - there is a lot of detail that goes into a renovation including exact positions of sinks and faucets and towel racks and shower heads and shower doors etc. The more detail you can provide up front, the better. If not you may see it only after the fact and it may not be to your liking. This will lead to rework. Arta pretty much stuck to the budget. Our expenses went up about 15% only and this was due to our additions. It's only after we started the work did we add-on some items like heated flooring in the bathrooms. Construction work was completed about 2 weeks ago. We've had some minor issues come up since then. Arta has been prompt and diligent about addressing them. I would not only recommend them, I would whole-heartedly hire them again.

During demolition, there was very little dust, during the process. They brought you in all decisions, and had no issues in anything you asked from them. The tile installers did a great job, in the installation. I live in a coop in Queens, and they had no issue working in the building. Andy his team were considerate of all our needs and I would definetly use them again. I am extremely happy with the results.

He's been hard to get a hold of and even when he finally gave me an appointment, he called the night before to cancel it.

Andy is as professional as they come, We had 2 major challenges, first this was the ONLY bathroom in our co-op and second, the co-op requires us to put in a lead pan for the shower. When we first met Andy he said that he could hook up our toilet EVERY Night so that we would have a toilet to use. This in itself was a milestone. As far as the lead pan, he said that was no problem, every other contractor that gave us a quote said that nowadays everyone uses plastic pans and it would cost more to install a lead pan. So not only did we get a very competitive price we got what we needed from Arta Construction. With Andy's contact we went to a tile place he recommended and found a tile we loved (we had already found a tile we were going to use) it was also cheaper per sq ft. The same thing with the shower doors that we had to order. Andy said that we should buy the custom shower doors separately and that that company would install them. We had 2 quotes from shower door companies but Andy gave us a recommendation for a company he uses that was significantly cheaper. Saving us money again. The crew that did the actual work was outstanding, they laid heavy plastic in the co-op hallway from the elevator to our door, they put plastic inside our apt and they arrived on time every day, kept the dust down as much as possible and made some design suggestions along the way when minor issues came up. Our bathroom looks stunning and I would not hesitate to recommend Andy and Arta Construction to anyone looking to renovate their house or apt. It was a great experience. My wife and I love the design, she has nothing but high praise for Andy and his workers. Work was done on time as promised. Andy is always available to answer any questions. He even threw in some extra stuff.

Andy and his crew are amazing! We wanted to put a new bathroom in from scratch and the outcome was better than we could have imagined! We found Arta Construction on angies list and could not be happier with our decision. Andy provided us with the best estimate, but it is the quality of work that his crew provided that really stood out. From the construction phase, to carpentry and sheetrock, to electric and plumbing, to tiling and finishes.... they were outstanding! I would recommend Arta Construction, Andy and his crew to anyone who wants quality work for a fair price, you will not be disappointed! I will continue to use Andy, and his crew, including John the plumber and electrician for all further work we ever do! The quality, dedication, and workmanship is beyond what we could have hoped for.

Do NOT waste your time even getting bids from other contractors. I received 7 bids for this project, and while ARTA was not the cheapest, I thank God for going with Andy and his team. I have never worked with a contractor who is as honest, as genuine, as dedicated, or as detailed as Andy and his team. Andy chose great people for his team--Yanni, Peter, Antony, Thomas, Nicholas--they are all experienced professionals who only want to make the customer happy. And Andy and ARTA did just that. I cannot be happier with how everything came out and the job they did. If I had to do it all again, I would choose Andy and ARTA in a second. The price was right, the team did amazing work, and we had many good laughs along the way. Do yourself and your home a favor--choose Andy and ARTA Construction for your next project, big or small.

Andy and his crew were wonderful. I have nothing but admiration for the integrity of his fellow co-workers, who by the way, are his relatives, brother, cousins, etc. Yani, the electrician was very abiding as far as placement of outlets around the counters, pendant outlet over the sink and recessed lighting in the kitchen, hall and living room. Petra, the carpenter is so adept in his trade and Anthony so obliging to every quest. They were very pleasant to meet and greet, and any time I thought there would be a problem, Andy's famous motto NO PROBLEM was applied. After being very impressed with the reviews on Angie's List, I decided to hire Andy, of Arta Construction to renovate a co-op apartment in New York that I purchased in the 1980's. This was all done unsupervised by me as I live in Florida and this was a vacant apartment that is used as a rental. Andy took me through the whole demolition process with daily pictures that he sent me. I chose cabinets, floor and wall tile, plumbing fixtures etc from pics that were sent to me. He kept me updated daily with pics of the work he completed. He made suggestions that I did not think of which further enhanced the job. As a former Real Estate broker, I have worked with many contractors. But in all my experience, I have never met anyone as professional as Andy. When it comes to decorating, I can be very indecisive. Andy had the patience of a saint, putting up with my changing my mind re counter colors, plumbing fixtures etc. Always, telling me, "don't worry, I will take care of it." Like other reviewers mentioned, I was very impressed with Andy's attention to detail. The completed job was beyond my expectations The old wood floors that he refinished looked like new. The detailed tile work,he suggested, was beautiful and the apartment was left spotless, ready for the new tenant to move in. The job was completed in three weeks, as promised, at price agreed upon. I have no doubt that Andy will get many referrals from me.

I had a great experience working with Andy and his team from Arta Construction. We discussed the renovations I wanted and he offered some suggestions, which were all good. He did a gut renovation of the bathroom, refinished the hardwood floors, replaced all the baseboards and molding, skim coated the foyer ceiling, and painted the entire place. He was very pleasant to work with and kept costs within his proposal. He also installed a new pantry cabinet and molding in the kitchen which almost perfectly matches the existing cabinets. He cares about the quality of his work and pays attention to detail. Everything is expertly finished. Truthfully, it looks even better than I envisioned. He transformed an old co-op into a brand new home. I highly recommended Arta Construction

So far, the bathroom has gone w/o a problem. We are waiting to shop for floor tiles for the foyer and hallway, as well as kitchen cabinets.

Andy, Yanni, Thomas and the rest of Arta Construction's team were true craftsmen and I can't thank them enough for renovating this home to allow my aging parents to enjoy their golden years in much more beautiful, healthy and functional space. I really appreciate their ability to problem solve at every step of the way and taking their own initiative to do the right thing even when I wasn't physically there to oversee them. I'm sure any other contractor could have taken advantage of us in a similar situation. Thank goodness we felt good about Andy beforehand and now look forward to another project with him with our second home. Will keep you posted...

This is the second time I used Arta Construction. The service was excellent. Andy and his team arrived about 7:45AM. They painted my entire apartment (3 1/2 large rooms) plus a large hallway, and they re-grouted the tiles in the shower area. They gave the apartment 2 coats of paint. The furniture was moved and protected while they painted. When they were done, everything was cleaned up and moved back the was it was when they arrived. They had the job completed in two days, as promised.

We had our pre-war bathroom apt renovated. It is our only bathroom. Andy was the only contractor I contacted who didn't tell me that we would have to be out of the house, because of a lack of toilet, for at least 4 days. One actually told us we would have to leave for 2 weeks! In fact, we wound up having a working toilet for the entire time he and his crew worked on our bathroom. They took it out every day when they came and put it back in at 5PM when they left. Thus, we never had to go to a hotel overnight, which would have added on hundreds of dollars. Andy replaced a pipe that he found was corroded, at no extra cost. All in all, the small bathroom was ripped down to the studs and completed in 8 working days. (Our co-op doesn't allow work on the weekends.) He and his crew were easy to talk to and didn't talk down to me because I was a woman (which I have experienced from other contractors). He and his crew never complained. They truly want you to be happy with the work. Would definitely recommend.

Andy was very good. He was responsive to my needs and concerns. He actually cared about how I wanted the job done. Not only that he also wanted to maker sure that he did the work correctly. No short cuts for him! His time line for the job was a little delayed, but not too bad.

We completely renovated our small studio apartment in Astoria. The renovation included demolishing everything 100% inside the apartment and renovating the living room, kitchen and bathroom completely. Andy and his team helped us make the apartment new and stylish, in addition to making best use of the space, which was very important to us. Their work was very professional, clean and timely. Andy is still making sure that all of the work is complete, taking care of minor issues that we realized after moving to the new place. He has delivered what we had discussed, and agreed, and even has gone an extra mile helping us with some additional work and unexpected problems that we had in the apartment to make a very nice and beautiful place to live in. I would recommend his work to anyone that is looking for a professional, reliable and clean renovation work with reasonable price and trustworthy work attitude.

Excellent service. They arrived at 8AM. The job was completed in about four hours. It was done very well. They were efficient, neat, professional and friendly. When the job was finished, they picked up the drop cloths and vacuumed, leaving the living room as clean and neat as it was when they arrived. I will be using Andy's services again after the holidays to have my whole apartment painted. In the Spring, I plan to call him to paint all of the exterior windows on my house. This was my first experience with Angie's list, and I am very pleased. I highly recommend Andy and his services.

I contacted Andy after my original contractor left work at my home unfinished. Andy came out, reviewed the job and gave us an estimate promptly. Andy was very responsive and professional. He completed a glass tile backsplash, water hook-up to refrigerator and outlet in the kitchen as well as a complete tiling and installation of fixtures and finishes in the half bathroom in just a couple of days. I was happy with the work and would recommend Andy.

Arta did an exceptionally quick and accurate job completely remodeling a 10' x 12' kitchen, installing new appliances, cabinets, and floor, painting the kitchen and the hallway in two weeks. (Started on a Monday and ended the following Friday.) When it was discovered that the apartment needed to be rewired in order to accommodate our new appliances, Arta brought in an electrician with a reasonable budget and still managed to get everything done on time, and looking excellent. Arta worked well with our building's staff, which was extremely vigilant during the entire process and had no issues with Arta's work. Arta cleaned up after themselves every day and never left the construction untidy. If there was a desire or need for change (a different cabinet door to accommodate the washing machine or change the direction of a door opening, the changes were done quickly and without issue. Arta also managed to make whatever adjustments were necessary to get our fridge through an opening it had no business getting through.

Andy is professional and accommodating and will go above and beyond to try and help find a solution or fix things you are not satisfied with. They also were under a tight time crunch and got the job done within the time frame promised, something that often doesn't happen. It was great working with Andy and I would certainly work with him again in the future..

Andy was my contact and he is wonderful. Andy was on vacation when I unknowingly contacted him. He responded in less than an hour. We agreed on an appointment date. He was punctual. I gave him instructions left by the plumber of the work that needed to be done. Andy understood completely and provided feedback on the work. Because of the water damage from the pipe leak on the bedroom floor, Andy volunteered to try and find the matching wood flooring. He said to give him 2 to 3 days to try and find the matching wood floor and then he would contact me with a progress report. Previously, my sister had not been successful with finding the same wood flooring. True to his word, Andy called on the 3rd day to report that he had also been unsuccessful; however, shared that he was successful with finding the closest matching wood. Discussions surrounding if all or half of the bedroom floor would be replaced occurred and my sister, brother and I agreed that replacing the entire floor with the new wood flooring would be the best way to proceed. Andy reviewed the work he was going to do and was receptive and flexible during the negotiation of the price with my brother. He gave us a time frame of one day. He came with 3 of his staff promptly at 8 am. There was a queen size wood frame bed that we were unable to remove because it needed to be disassembled. The workers graciously took the bed apart and put it back together. Due to the weather, the walls of the bedroom could not be painted the same day. Andy informed us that his worker would return the following morning and he did so promptly at 8 and finished the job. The outcome was absolutely beautiful! Working with Andy was a dream. He is very professional and personable. Andy was always available. From his point forward, he will be the only contractor that we will be using. Andy is being highly recommended to friends and family.
