My initial contact was with Paul who came out promptly to assess the initial insurance adjuster damage estimate. He identified several aspects of our installation that were not and quot;standardand quot; elements in the adjuster's report and submitted a revised estimate to the insurance company. He spoke directly with the insurer and arrived at the final agreed-upon estimate which was about 60% higher than the initial claim.
The final estimate involved clearing (and subsequent re-installation) of furniture, carpet, washer, dryer, laundry tub and powder room toilet, installation of new dri-core underlayment throughout the basement, re-installation of vinyl planking in three rooms, re-installation of carpet in one room, drywall repairs (including insulation as needed), installation of baseboard and door trim, two full coats of paint for each room plus the trim work and carpet cleaning.
Our next contact was with Bill who was the project manager for our job. He explained the process and then met with us to pick out replacement flooring that was fully equivalent to what we had in place before the flooding. He also noted the specific paint brands, finishes, and colors to be used.
One item Paul identified was the potential need for asbestos tile removal where the water had loosened the existing tiles. In cooperation with the insurer, PCI-Services arranged for asbestos testing and subsequent abatement of the affected areas.
Following the abatement all clear, Bill contacted us and gave us a specific start date. The crew (and Bill) showed up right on time and we walked through exactly what was going to be done. The first and second days of the project we had a five-man crew followed by one day with two men and a final day with three.
I was very impressed with the crews and the work that they did. The first step every day was to lay down tarps to protect our floors as they moved in and out of the house. Each man had specific tasks and I had the opportunity to observe them fairly closely. They did not take any short-cuts and in fact were very careful to do the job right. For example, the dri-core underlayment needed leveling in some areas and they took the time to shim it properly and to ensure that all seams were absolutely tight. In addition, every inch of baseboard, door, and window trim was carefully fitted and caulked to ensure a perfect finish. At the end of each day, the work areas were cleaned up, the tarps were removed, and they vacuumed the areas that had been covered by the tarps.
When the job was finished, you truly could not tell that there had ever been any damage whatsoever.
While I hope never to have restoration services in the future, I would not hesitate to reach out to PCI-Services for assistance. They were always professional, they kept me informed at each step of the process, and their work was exemplary.
