Absolutely horrible... was quoted a 1 week time frame (in March), 4 months into the remodel still not finished. They DO install quality products but their installation and workmanship is horrible. FAST VERSION: Itemizing the major events of what went wrong The tile was crooked and uneven, although they replaced it this delayed how soon we could use the bathroom. The wrong toilet was installed--I literally don't know how this happened. We gave them an inventory number and a picture. They provided no explanation. The shower was leaking into the basement unknowingly for a week. They came back to fix it but had no bucket. I was home that day from work and heard the contractor tell the other one to just look around the house until he found something. I gave him a bowl from the kitchen, I don't own a bucket. But is it your practice to LOOK around the house if I weren't there. During one of the other visits we learned the sink was leaking also. Then there is the tile and all the multiple scenarios below. This was an embarrassment when friends and family ask how's the bathroom coming along or did they finish. We used other contractors to do our basement and never had these problems, their workmanship was flawless and they actually had to install a new bathroom, run plumbing and connect to the sewer. I would have used them again but they were out of business. LONG VERSION: During one of our with John (the owner) says he had a cancellation for next week. He said he can fit us in or he would need to push it out a month. I asked how long the job would take he said one week, so we agreed to do it the following week. -- This was really important to me because my daughter was away at school. She would be returning home for spring break in two weeks and I did not want her home alone with contractors. They did not finish in one week, or one month. The tore out the bathroom all in one day. Great start. The following day they installed the tub and drywall for only the tub, I expected a little more would be done but I don't know better. So I figured they must need time for that to dry. Day 3 they put drywall up on one wall and did the putty. Now I'm starting to get nervous, no tile? No flooring, no cabinet? One wall... ok... but they said one week. I noticed the wall still had about a 2inch piece of mesh sticking out the top corner. They said they weren't done. Ok, so Day 4 they piled putty over the mesh sticking out of the corner--not professionally, just a big glob. The normal corner is now round not square. They also put in the vanity, countertop and sink. Still no tile, I am disappointed. Keep in mind somewhere in here they had to do plumbing work. Not to imply they weren't working just that I was getting nervous with the time frame. This was the day I learned the linen cabinet they ordered would not fit because of a load bearing beam they could not remove. The new shorter cabinet would take 2weeks to arrive. Meanwhile Day 5... they finally did the tile on the shower. When I came home I noticed most of the tiles were cut crooked. My son said the two contractors kept saying the blade wasn't cutting straight--well they installed them anyway. Day 6 they pulled off the bad tile and redid those (per our request) and put in the tile on the floor. The floor tiles were not crooked but the tiles were not level. The transition piece from the carpet into the bathroom tile was waaaay crooked. The owner came back to review the work and told me the contractors said the house is too old and all the angles are bad. Really?? Because I had tile on the floor and shower prior the remodel and it looked fine. I don't really care what the angles are I want you to fool me then--hide the angles. The house was built in 1973 and somehow I didn't see crooked tiles before they arrived. I can't remember what day we are on now but they also installed the vanity light off-center, a ceiling vent, toilet and replaced the window. When I pointed out the vanity light was off-center, the contractor said to my husband, "She noticed that?" Ummm... I'm not a professional HE should have noticed that. They just don't care about their work. By now my daughter is home from school. Four people are sharing my bedroom bathroom. No linen closet, no paint but they have come back to correct the vanity light and put it right side up. They didn't ask me which way I wanted it and I came home like that is upside down. Oh... and they replaced two floor tiles Meanwhile the contractors had a death in the family and needed two days off. I told my husband it was ok if they needed more time. I recently lost my grandmother and I didn't want them to feel like they had to rush back. When they return they are upset and blame us that they could not finish the job sooner. Wow... no gratitude. I didn't say DON'T do the job, I said take more time if you need it--which they did take advantage of. Finally the linen closet arrives! A real contractor was sent to install the cabinet (I later found out he also installed the window). This guy did an awesome job, where has he been? He corrected the flooring--yep, he corrected the "corrected" flooring that was still uneven. When he installed the cabinet he chipped the drywall a little in two spots. It was very small but I still wanted it corrected. So, when the other contractors came back to do the painting we asked them to fix the drywall. They "fixed" the drywall by pushing putty over the spots with their thumbs--no lie. No tools, no putty knife nothing. And ok... I'm just a basic mom but I'm really curious why the painting wasn't done way long ago before all the good wood was installed. Anyway they did a decent job painting but only did one coat with really thin paint--we normally buy Behr but they specifically told us to buy sherman williams. I could see through it and they had no plan on doing a second coat. I could see all the drywall seams which we pointed out to the owner on another visit. The owner comes back out again... At this point I told the owner the other contractors are no longer allowed in my home. I want the job done and I want it done right. The owner came himself to fix the two thumb globs on the drywall, several random gouges in other areas of drywall, do the second coat of paint, paint the door trim which was pulled off to get the cabinets in and put silicone on the base of the tub near the floor tile. He made the thumb globs worse. Instead of two small bumps, I now had one large mound on the wall. I'm like this is horrible! Once again he said, I'm not done. I'm thinking... really? Do you normally paint something you are not done with? Ok. He came back the next day it was better but still not flush. When he came back, he had the good contractor with him. I asked the good contractor to finish multiple remaining issues. By then we learned the heat vent was balancing in the wall and was not attached to anything--he fixed that and put metal behind the screws. He agreed to fix the wall but by then the wood trim of the cabinet was ruined by plaster and scratches. The owner had tried to fix the scratches with one of the stain markers, I'm like no I want the trim replaced. New trim was ordered but... when the good contractor (his name is also John) came back to install it he only had time to put the first layer of putty on the bumpy wall. He said he would come back to do the second coat and we said we would paint it ourselves to get the job finished. We just wanted the wall fixed. Well we never heard from them after that. We have called multiple time, they don't answer. When the owner returned one of my husbands calls he left a vml saying we said we would paint the wall--yes we did but you have to finish and sand it first. We have filed a BBB complaint (although they are not registered with them) and they have not responded. We have since hired a different contractor to repair the infamous bumpy wall. The new contractor did it the same day and did not have to return the next day to sand or do a second coat. He did two coats, drying in between and painted the same day.

Marco did not show up for appointments, project start date was delayed without us being notified; young man constructing the balcony was pleasant, quiet and appeared to do good quality work.

I was very happy with the results - high quality work. They were very clean and the drywall looks beautiful. The price was very reasonable - I compared them to others for this work.

I had a couple of projects that needed to be done and they were unusual kind of things, and they were able to commend with a creative solution and took care of the job. I don’t really remember how much they’d charged me for their services. They’ve actually done a couple of jobs; one which they did at the present time and one which I found someone else to be more competitive, and that was a flooring job.

Matco Remodeling could have done better work in sealing the windows. They had left gaps but did come back and fix them when we called them and complained. They disposed of all the old windows etc. They wore little boots on their shoes when they came inside as well.
