After soliciting some other bids for our bathroom renovation, we asked Bill at Oasis Interiors, to take a look at our bathroom and bid on the project. The first sign that Oasis would be the right contractor to go with was that Bill took his time when he first came to inspect our bathroom and ask about specifics of what I wanted. He took a lot of photos and was very clear with me regarding ideas I had, and how we could adjust them to either meet building codes or to keep the renovation within our budget. The next sign was that his bid was not the lowest bid. (His bid was not the highest bid, either!) This may sound like a strange "sign," but we had friends who had learned the hard way that when you go with the lowest bidder for contracting work, you often get what you pay for (bad work). So, we knew that using someone with a very low bid was not the way to go, as tempting as that was. Another thing I noticed about Bill and John (his head carpenter), was that they truly love what they do. They were incredibly invested in the quality of their work and the finished product. I've never thought of contractors as artists before, but these guys truly are. And it shows in their positive attitude and humor, but it also shows in my gorgeous bathroom! I should say that Bill's plumbers and electrician were not only great at what they do but also very nice, and they seemed happy to be working with Bill. Watching these guys interact spoke volumes to me about the respect they have for each other. That kind of energy and sense of collegiality is priceless when people are working in your home. As with most renovations, there were several things that needed adjustment or re-thinking. Bill was always ready to brainstorm in order to come up with some creative solutions, whether it was installing a wall-mounted fan for air circulation, dealing with walls that were a far cry from square, even dealing with a rude customer service rep from a vanity company that did not deliver all of the correct hardware for installation. Nothing rattled Bill. I think this is because he has been in the business long enough to have experienced just about every kind of setback from disorganized building management companies to plumbing issues to gas leaks. He was always ready to look at plan B, solve the problem, and move forward. Throughout the whole process, Bill was was very clear in his communication with us, which always made us feel confident that we were in good hands. We truly could not be happier with our new bathroom.

Bill came out and took measurement, created a proposal and sent it via email. He was very professional, but we did not go with him because of pricing. I would recommend him, because I think they would do a great job.
Description of Work: Came out and gave an estimate
I had to wait a little while after the agreed start date, but given that this was the total reincarnation of a fairly large space, and knowing that I wanted the entire room to be done without having to bring in individual experts, using Oasis meant that the project went seamlessly, from design to completion, without any hitches. Bill's suggestions were well thought out, discussed, reviewed and carried out with great professionalism.
Description of Work: Totally renovated my library, from pulling out existing built ins, to creating new space, refinishing floors, painting and all electrical work. I have never used a better, more reliable, or honest contractor, who came with a complete team of experts. Every detail was attended to with the utmost concern both for the client and the finished job. Potential customers will be fortunate to have Oasis!
After 2 other contractors said that the countertop could not made cut around a heating pipe, Bill stated it can be done but it just needs more time and expertise. Well we couldn't be happier with the finished product. All the personnel were punctual, professional, and personable. I know it sounds cliche, but you get what you pay for and this is what excellent workmanship looks like and costs. We had some good ideas and Bill perfected them while adding his creative opinion. We will be using this company and only this company in the future.
Description of Work: replace countertops, custom made cabinets, new faucet, new sink, roped heating pipes
Bill Holcomb is the owner of the business, and he is assisted by his chief carpenter John. I found Bill wonderful to work with, and he gave great advice regarding certain design issues that came up. Once we go the job started, things moved along steadily, though it did take longer than expected. I was completely satisfied with the quality of the work that he and his crew performed. The sub-contractors that did the floor, stone sills, and that did a repair on the stone counter-top that was chipped by the previous owner were all excellent. The plumber did very good work, but he was really expensive, as was the electrician. I suppose that this is par for the course in NYC. Overall, I would definitely use Oasis again based on the work that was done. Bill and his crew were great, honest, up front with the pricing and always helpful. They worked alone in the condo, and I never had any issues with things missing.
Description of Work: We had moved into a a condo and needed extensive work done, including changing a bathtub to a walk-in shower, refinishing all of the floors, removing and replacing the window sills, removing and replacing all of the baseboard trim, complete repainting of trim, walls and ceilings with repair of a number of areas, replacement of part of a floor that had warped, removing and re-framing closet doors with replacement of the doors, opening an area of the wall that had covered a window, with reframing of that area, and removing and covering up the holes of some light and electrical fixtures. The dishwasher was also replaced.

I was very pleased with the work that Oasis did. Right from the first meeting, they showed an interest in the overall design and in how the loft structure would fit in with the rest of the apartment vs. just getting the job done. This was very important to me and the primary reason I selected them. We came up with a great design and built in my opinion one of the best loft set-ups I've seen anywhere.

Work went incredibly well. The new vanity looks amazing and the work was done on the timeframe promised. Bill and his team are incredibly professional, pay attention to the small details, and take care to clean up and leave everything looking great. This is the second time I used Oasis. The first was for redo-ing floors/walls/electrical after a flood from an upstairs apartment. That work went incredibly well and i would use them again and again.

The owner has been totally amazing on a variety of levels, consulting, bringing in his stuff. Extremely prompt, great suggestions and recommendations. Prompt response to anything, whether it be emails, phone calls, there overall assistant with helping move through some of the new york bureaucracy.
Description of Work: Going to do a total studio renovation, and replacement of a kitchen, cabinets and appliances, as well as, a direct replacement of the bathroom, tiles etc... Gave me a quote of about $40,000
The renovation went very well. Of course there were problems, but, the project was completed on schedule and the work was excellent. It wasn't the lowest price I could find, but after observing other contracting companies performing work in my building and then seeing the results, I believe that I got what I paid for, top quality work performed by very professional people. Before the project began, I spoke with various contractors, designers, all in one shops, etc... electing to do the design and supervision of the project myself, saving the cost of using a third party designer or the various uncertainties of dealing with an all in one shop. In retrospect, perhaps I should have enlisted a design person to oversee everything because of the hiccups and problems encountered along the way. I would caution anyone considering doing as I did to make sure they have the time and resources available to deal with things like: the toilet that wasn't going to show up on time, the wrong sink being delivered or a last minute run to Queens to pick up an extra case of tile. On the other hand, it's a good feeling to know everything about the job and where all the pieces came from, but that satisfaction comes with some legwork and stress. For their part in all of this, Oasis was excellent. First, my building was very demanding in terms of what documentation had to be provided for such a basic renovation. Those demands were adeptly dealt with and the project was approved. Since my apartment only had one bathroom, we had to move out for the duration of the construction. Therefore, adhering to the schedule was paramount for us. Again, Oasis came through with flying colors. We were able to move back in when we were supposed to and had a working bathroom. There was some light finishing work still to be done, but it was completed withing a few days. Communication was great as well. They got me going on the project with suggestions for supply shops, quantities of materials and helped me determine if certain design ideas that I had, such as a pocket door, would be feasible. In addition, they were very helpful with lighting ideas, types of paint, colors, how high to tile and a multitude of little things that I hadn't considered when I decided to do the design work myself. My favorite idea of theirs was the use of schluter schiene to finish the edges of the tile. It's inexpensive and looks fantastic. When the aforementioned problems surfaced, Oasis rolled with the punches and provided assistance to me in getting them resolved. To their credit, they were never the source of a problem. Also, I really liked the people. This ended up being a large learning experience for me. Dealing with Oasis was the high point of that experience. I'll definitely be calling them for my next project.
Description of Work: Bathroom Renovation: Demo and remove all plumbing fixtures, tiles and finishes. Construction work included installation of new plumbing fixtures on existing rough ins, installation of new tub to existing drain and location, vanity sink cabinet, flush mount medicine cabinet, and new floor and wall tile with appropriate waterproofing. Install new drop ceiling with recessed lights to existing circuit. Install new vanity light fixture.

I was very pleased with the knowledge and professionalism of Bill Holcomb and his crew. Their suggestions added to the final beauty of the renovation. As someone who does a great deal of cooking, he worked with me to make my kitchen not only beautiful but efficient as well. The crew were punctual and kept appointments. The kitchen was spotless when they left in the evening. They were very willing to accept my suggestions. The craftsmanship of the work and the cabinetry were excellent. Since space was limited, Bill was able to fabricate a rolling cabinet that could be moved to get to a window. This had been a big problem with the old cabinets. He consulted with me as to the size and placement of the drawers and cabinets. Throughout the job he was very concerned about the visual presentation. Yes, I would recommend him to anyone who wants a quality renovation.
Description of Work: Full gut renovation of kitchen and pantry in a pre-war apartment (circa 1928). No full scale renovation had been done prior to this job. Some walls required the application of cement and plaster. Electrical and plumbing lines were updated. Track and under cabinet lighting were installed. New cabinets were designed, fabricated and installed. Quartz counter-tops were installed. Ceramic tile was installed. New baseboards were applied. The kitchen and pantry were painted.
It was great. It went very smoothly, they were extremely prompt in responding, they gave a very detailed quote and I'm very satisfied. Their price was reasonable.
Description of Work: I got a quote from Oasis Interiors Inc. last April. It was to completely repaint my house, install crown molding, replace some flooring that needed replacements and they would build some cabinetry for my radiators, and cut down some other cabinetry to fit another place.

Work has not yet begun. But we have had several meetings, and all contacts have been highly professional and promising.
Description of Work: We just went to contract with him as contractor for a complete renovation of two bathrooms.
Our experience with Oasis was excellent from start to finish. We had never worked with a contractor before and did not know what to expect. Bill and his team were responsive, creative, calm, neat, pleasant, and meticulous about the work. He made us feel as though our job and satisfaction were the most important thing. He was patient with our questions and alternate ideas about approaching the project. Bill presented the pros and cons of various options in person or in detailed emails. He took the time to introduce us to each of the subcontractors and gave of regular unsolicited updates on the progress of our job. Bill was particularly helpful when working with us to prepare the alteration agreement for our building's management. Alesh, the primary person on site was just terrific. We look forward to working with them again.
Description of Work: Oasis finished our recently enclosed terrace. They leveled the floor and installed flooring, framed the walls, installed insulation, drywall, electrical wiring, and fixtures, and painted.

Response from Oasis Interiors Inc
Dear Readers: I thank this reviewer for considering Oasis Interiors for her custom cabinetry needs. To clarify, this reviewer contacted me with a desire for custom built-in cabinets in her living room area. We met and discussed her specific storage needs and objectives for the proposed cabinets and space. I presented several photo samples of built-in units we have completed for a similar configuration of living room space, and their respective general price range. The reviewer revealed that she was a renter of the apartment, and not the owner, and was hesitant to invest money in a place she did not own. This scenario is not so un-common in New York City. While many people own their apartment, there are many folks who are renters and don’t want to invest money into “custom built-in” units that will remain with the apartment when/if they leave the apartment. I explained to this reviewer that we offer three general options for cabinetry/storage units, as listed below - from most expensive to least expensive, which will be helpful for any future potential customers considering custom cabinetry/storage for their home to know: 1. Custom built-in cabinetry. This is the best looking and most functional way to gain the maximum storage space in a specific area in the home/apartment. On custom projects, I measure and design the cabinets to fit the particular space, and then fabricate the cabinet units out of my cabinet shop in Dumbo, Brooklyn. The units are then installed to fit the exact space in the apartment, with trim, filler pieces, and countertops all cut to fit on site, integrating perfectly with the surrounding walls etc. Often times, electrical outlets, under-cabinet and ceiling lighting, flat screen TV’s, and even automated hardware options are integrated into the design of our built-in units. Price range for common built-in units is between $4,000-$15,000. (Design, materials, fabrication, delivery, and installation) 2. Custom free-standing units. This is a less expensive alternative to going full-blown built-in. Custom size free-standing units are cabinet units built to accommodate a customer’s particular space and storage needs while offering a simple and quick installation process. These units are either truly “free-standing,” or secured to the wall with several fasteners. Price range for common free-standing units is between $2,000-$4,000. (Design, materials, fabrication, delivery, and simple installation) 3. Wall mounted shelving. This is the least expensive option for achieving practical, (relatively) quick, and flexible shelving/storage. In essence, this method consists of wall mounted metal vertical rails and shelf brackets, with shelves (typically wood or glass) supported by the shelf brackets. There are many inexpensive store bought solutions like this, however for customers who want this simple approach, but also would like a custom, quality, aesthetic look to the units, we offer some attractive options for the verticals and shelf supports – along with using raw lumber milled and finished to suit the customer’s desired size and appearance. Typical range in pricing for wall mounted shelving is between $750-$2,000. (Design, materials, fabrication [if needed], delivery, and installation) I hope this brief overview helps readers get a basic sense for the three main options and general price ranges for achieving custom storage. Thank you for considering Oasis Interiors for your project needs. Bill Holcomb Oasis Interiors, Inc.

I contacted Oasis over the weekend, and received a prompt response on Monday. Bill was extremely nice and helpful, and we were able to set up an appointment for him to come visit the apartment the next day. He was on time, professional, and friendly. We were able to start and complete the work the very next week. Bill and Scott met with us each morning to go over the work and discuss our comments/concerns. We were very pleased with the work done. A day after the work was completed, we received a bill, which was reasonable and provided detailed information about the materials and work completed. I would highly recommend them and will use this firm again if we need additional work done.

. I do not remember the experience with them as I did not use them. They were excellent with their communications.
Description of Work: .I got a quote from Oasis Interiors for a little renovation of the condo.
Bill Holcomb responded the same day when we learned that an internal steam valve failed and was severely damaging the walls and ceiling of my pre-war, co-op apartment bedroom. Paint was peeling off the ceiling and my custom cabinetry was beginning to warp. A further complication was that I had just sublet the apartment to tenants, whose belongings had been moved into the apartment, and we were focused on preventing damage to their things and preserving a livable apartment. Bill and his team worked closely with the building super and plumbers to assess the damage and quickly created a work plan to resolve the complicated repair. They carefully removed the custom cabinetry, prepared the worksite for plumbers, and rebuilt, patched, repainted and reinstalled the cabinetry within 5 days. Bill, Andy, and Scott paid meticulous attention to every detail of the job, kept a spotless worksite, and restored the room to its original condition. It's nearly impossible to tell that anything so destructive happened just a week earlier. While the project was underway, Bill supervised minor repairs (to a broken floor saddle and broken drawer slide) that the tenant had requested, with precision and efficiency. It's a huge benefit to know someone you can trust implicitly on any project - large or small - and who will approach repairs and improvements to your home as if it were his own. His cheerful, intelligent, hard-working attitude seem to draw in equally talented work crew members and subcontractors; he seems to spot talent and people with a similar work ethic, which makes a tremendous difference in getting project done well and on time. I also found his pricing to be very reasonable given the absolute certainty I had that it would be done perfectly. Bill had helped me on some minor repairs to my apartment before I sublet it, but when this emergency happened, he responded immediately and came through with flying colors. What more can you ask for? I have given Bill's name to several friends and recommend him without hesitation. He, Scott, and Andy are gems.

Dear Readers, Several years ago, Angie’s List created a tab for Members to “E-Mail Provider” directly from the page displaying that Service Provider’s information. The tab was placed on each profile page by Angie’s List, and Service Providers do not have an option to remove it from the profile page. It should be noted, that Angie’s List, IS, an online forum, where Members can view and leave feedback about experiences with various Service Provider’s services. But it IS NOT a booking service, and Oasis Interiors does not receive any compensation from Angie’s List, nor do we currently pay to subscribe to the Advertising Program which allows a Service Provider’s company to appear at the top position of Angie’s List highlighted in yellow. The creation of the “E-Mail Provider” tab, which routes content-box entered text through the Angie’s List computer system, and ultimately to a Service Provider via an Angie’s List coded email address, creates a complicated and false sense of association between Angie’s List and that Service Provider. While we can appreciate Angie’s List’ effort to furnish it’s Members a Service Provider’s contact information via the profile page, the results of this “E-Mail Provider” tab have been largely negative, because via it’s “ease of use” it has created many hasty, short worded, insincere, and sometimes even disrespectful communications from Member’s who “only have a minute of time” to shoot off a quick message – often times sent to as many Service Providers as possible – hoping to get a “cattle-call” style response for very little time invested. As a small company, myself and my team work incredibly hard to provide our customers exceptional results and a truly enjoyable renovation experience. We simply don’t have time for these hasty inquires such as the one the reviewer originally provided via the “E-Mail Provider” tab. Underscoring his original communication, it took this gentleman 10 minutes to sign-on, navigate, and write a negative review, when it would have taken him 1 minute to pick up the phone and make a serious inquiry. Serious inquiries into the renovation process begin by a potential Customer contacting us through the Oasis Interiors website, or directly by phone. We appreciate the opportunity to serve our valued customers, and especially thank those who have graciously reported on a completed project. Sincerely, Bill Holcomb President Oasis Interiors, Inc.
The original goal of the project was just to install a minimalist bookshelf. I did not really have a good idea of what I wanted other that I wanted it to be built using hardwood. Oasis Interiors met with me to discuss my vision for the room and offered valuable insights that improved the over all outcome of the project. Specifically, they responded to a question from about improving lighting in the room by suggesting the installation of soffits and recessed lights. Oasis Interiors was able to explain the impacts of various lighting options in a way that gave me a good idea of how the final result would look. They also found a great bookshelf system that would work with custom wenge hardwood shelves (also recommended by Oasis) that nicely matched the interior of my apartment. The work itself progressed quickly, and the Oasis Interiors crew was professional and prompt. They worked nicely with my building's management even when it occasionally caused delays in the project. They were also receptive to some of my questions about the progress throughout the project. To me, the best success of this project is that when I show it to friends, they think I got a wall painted and bookshelves installed. Almost no one seems to think that the lights weren't part of the apartment from the beginning. Also, upon seeing them finished for the first time, my girlfriend also announced that she wants to keep the bookshelves if we ever move.
Description of Work: Oasis Interiors designed and installed 10 recessed lights in soffits along three connected walls. Each bank of lights was controlled by a dimmer. They installed a minimalist bookshelf with wenge hardwood shelves and painted the same wall.

There are absolutely no "don'ts" with Oasis! They are beyond a triple A rating. If I didn't have any more renovations in mind, I would create some just to be able to use Oasis again.! I did have to wait a little while for the work to begin after talks and the estimate, and the costs were higher due to the replacement and enhancement of utilities and additional items that came to light during the process. However, the project was completed with no problems and within the time frame discussed. That being said, I wholeheartedly recommend the the Oasis team. You will enjoy the entire process of working with such a talented and dedicated crew.
Description of Work: I have a library with built in shelves and cupboards which had no doubt been in place since the building was constructed nearly 100 years ago. Additionally, there were panels in front of the windows that knocked out a great deal of usable space. Some years ago, I added more cabinets with a deeper surface to take a rather large television set. It was time to streamline, create a more contemporary room, lighten up the painted finish which was a Colonial blue, restore the old herringbone floors and bring back the light. From initial plans to the finished product, Oasis handled the entire project. Bill drew up plans for my approval, thought through potential problem areas, brought in wood samples, built the new cabinets, consulted on finishes, hardware, media equipment and lighting. And working with a complete team of dedicated artisans executed the entire project with professionalism and enthusiasm rarely seen in other contractors. And I have worked with many in the past.

Oasis recently completed an extensive renovation of our Manhattan apartment. We found Bill through Angie's list and at first were hesitant to go with someone without a personal reference. However, after checking with phone references and meeting with Bill we felt confident enough to continue, and we are so glad that we did. You could not ask for a better man to work with than Bill. He is reliable, responsive, honest, and easy to deal with. We were in constant contact and he worked with us to figure out the best solutions to any issues that arose. It was a big job and the crew were there every day for 4 months. There was no slacking off. Everyone was polite and hard-working. His right hand man, Scott, was also great. We were very satisfied with the completed work. I couldn't recommend him more highly. It was a very positive renovation experience.

I found Oasis on Angie's List when my super's recommendations failed to respond to my calls. I was under a deadline, and was impressed by Bill's responsiveness for what was a very small job, which he was able to squeeze in between larger contracts. Bill's honesty and workmanship was outstanding, and based on this experience I will definitely use him in the future for larger projects and recommend him highly to others. He referred me to an excellent plumber, so seems to have solid relationships with reliable subcontractors who are key to getting projects delivered on time and on budget. What a gem - I was so glad to have found him and was thrilled with his superb work and attitude.

Our bathroom had been re-done 9 years ago, but the grout had not been sealed and over that time it had yellowed, and the caulk around the tub, sink, and door had cracked. We wanted to have the room re-grouted, we didn't want to renovate again, and we wanted the job done before the end of the month when we had guests coming to visit. One aspect of the re-grouting was a bit unusual and therefore more complicated than normal, we have a decorative strip of 3/4 inch stainless steel tiles (three tiles tall) running around the room as an accent. We called Oasis Interiors and company owner Bill Holcomb came over to our apartment the same evening to take a look at the job. He explained he had a team of people working for him and would have to check the next day to see what their availability would be, but he estimated that most of the grout replacement work could probably be done in a day, likely with the resealing of the grout happening the next morning, and that there would be no problem getting it done before the end of the month. I then also pointed out several cracks in the wall in the dining room and foyer area as well as one in the bathroom, he said patching those would be easy and that he'd take a look at the paint we had (from 9 years ago) and use it if they could or we could easily get matching paint from Janovic which is only 1.5 blocks away. The next day he got in touch to say that he had two people who could come the next day (Thursday) to do the grouting and the walls. Bill and the first worker arrived promptly at 9am, he explained the second worker would be arriving a bit later. (Since they charge per worker per hour this wouldn't cost us anything extra.) Bill showed him around, discussed with me what the plan was and then left. The second worker showed up only 45 minutes later, she immediately started on the patching and repainting of the walls. That didn't take terribly long and both of them worked the rest of the day on the re-grouting. Later in the afternoon the first worker had to leave, but the second stayed until about 6:30pm finishing up. Bill checked in via email to say that another worker on his team (brother of the first one) would be coming the next morning at 10am to do the re-sealing of the grout and do the re-caulking. Bill arrived with him at 10am to check things out before leaving, and the job was finished at 12:30. Bill emailed an itemized bill showing the specific hours worked for each worker, and listing all of the materials they used. There had been a slight delay at one point when the second worker had a little problem getting a tool that they didn't have, but that time was not counted in the hours we had to pay for. Bill and his three workers were very pleasant and industrious and we were impressed by Bill's professionalism. We know that this was not a big job in the grand scheme of things and we felt very well cared for and well informed throughout the whole process. We will definitely call Oasis Interiors in the future for any sort of handyman and repair jobs we have.
Description of Work: Grout was replaced and sealed on all 4 walls of tiled bathroom, caulk was replaced around tub, sink, and door. Cracks in plaster walls in dining room, foyer, and bathroom were repaired and repainted.

Doing a renovation on the scale that I have done, can be an absolute nightmare, and many people I know have horror stories. They all warned me to do my homework, and I did. I interviewed 5 companies, and then went with my gut, which was Oasis. And how right I was! Through the co-op approval process, the demolition of the kitchen, the floor sanding, the recessed lighting, the plastering and painting, the building and installation of a totally new kitchen?.through it all?Bill and his team were an absolute dream to work with. I was somewhat nervous and new to this process, and they were always reassuring, always right on point. Bill's seasoned advice, attention to detail and creative solutions always blew me away. I could completely and totally depend on him, which made it a pretty much stress-free experience. Bill is creative, talented, honest and a perfectionist?so rare in this business. It was an absolute pleasure working with him. My apartment and kitchen are stunning and I couldn't imagine being happier. He has my no holds barred, highest recommendation. Now I can't wait to do the bathrooms.
