Four years later and still fighting to get c of o, that explains it all. They never follow through on anything and make major mistakes along the way. You might as well be your own contractor because that's all I've done the whole time. No proper supervision. They sub contract out to the worst, probably the cheapest, and things need to get redone several times to fix. Everything needed to be done over and over and over again. Their architect made several mistakes and the owner who "sold" me the deal missed so many things on his quote that I had to keep paying for more and more things to satisfy the towns code. If you do hire this slick talker you'll be sorry. I am!

Complete horror from start to end. Mike owner talked me into using his architect Emilio Susa, so that they would communicate easily. None whatsoever. After signing contract and giving deposit, took 5 months to get architect drawings. Didn't offer any personal designs, Susa told me that he works for Larsen and can't talk with me, basically I ended up doing all the thinking.. Then another 6 months to start job. They gave me one weeks notice to clear out house that they were starting one week before thanksgiving. Also got lots of hidden fees as they weren't thorough for estimate.Subcontracted all work. All subcontractors below par.Everything had to be done not once, not twice but three or more times to repair. Z-Rite plumbers the worst. They caused a flood in my finished ;basement, I found it when I came home and saw them standing in inches of water by the boiler. Had to tell them to get dry vac. I put fans down there for days to dry my carpet. All Sheetrock wet stains and furniture stained. They did nothing. Took them over 4 months and a dozen visits to find the leak from a second floor bathroom they installed. Had to cut and respackle brand new ceiling on first floor three times till it was fixed. Tiles in bathroom redone several times because glass tiles uneven. Paid extra for glass shower doors and poor seal causing water to leak when taking shower. Wood floors installed, needed to repair spots with broken pieces. Central a/c put in after all walls closed up so not in all the right places or as efficient. Condensers in back of house and not on side because architect never calculated proper footage for placement. Now hear noise from them. Architect knew of my basement yet never advised me that would not pass town inspection. Where was the communication? Now paid another architect for plans to meet town codes and just paid another contractor $7,200 for egress window and fireproof boiler room. My project manager quit and I was never told. Found out only after calling the office numerous times because no work was being done. I was told job would take 12 weeks, it is now 3 1/2 years and I'm still waiting on a C of O. They completely abandoned me. I've been working on my own to complete for over a year. They do NOT stand behind their work.;I could go on and on but I think you get the idea. Never recommend or wish them on anyone.

Project management was very poor in the beginning. Project Manager was unresponsive. He was eventually replaced by another guy. Wish we had him the entire time. Rubbish was left all over our lawn and driveway. Had to complain several times before a dumpster was brought in. Had to spend about 15k extra on basement due to town of Hempstead inspectors. No work was done in basement, but thought architect/contractor should have seen it coming. Sales team and office staff, design consultants were awesome. Subcontractors used did beautiful work, with few exceptions. Follow up after project ended was awesome. Any issues that surfaced were fixed or resolved very quickly.

The electrician they used was a pain and wanted $$$ to do things that should not have required much of any extra work (double wide gang boxes instead of single). $400 to wire a door bell? 1000 to wire cable or ethernet? We used Lumber Liquidators to install the wood floors, Larsen wanted 2X the price as them and we were VERY happy with what Liquidators did. I felt that Larsen could have done better but am satisfied with the work done. They did take 3X as long as originally promised. I am not sure if it would have been much quicker if workers showed up every day (they did not, especially towards the end). They also left a BIG mess in our driveway and damaged the lawn significantly.

Larsen gave us a very aggressive timeframe which I doubted from the beginning. The fact is this job took longer than promised but I have never had a project done for me by a contractor that came in on time. This being said, this company has excellent integrity. They would not rest until we were satisfied. Even if we did not like what they did, they would do it again until we did. When we were unhappy with a sub contactor they were on the scene immediately to remedy the issue. Post completion they made good 100% on the guarantee and have fixed every issue that has come up. At the end of the day we were thrust into a remodel from a disaster and our home could not be more beautiful. Not only would I use them again, I would highly recommend them...just don't count on the deadline, but the end result is what is important.

They took two and a half years to finish it. I would never use them again and I would not recommend them at all. Their plumber did a horrible job, they had to come back and fix everything and I have documentation on that. They made a large mistake in my plumbing and they had to correct it, which involved me loosing half the heat in my house, two winters ago when it was very cold. It was very unpleasant. I had other plumbers look at it that said whoever hooked this up didn't know what they were doing. Their punctuality was okay and they came when they said they were going to come. They sliced one of the heating pipes and one part of my house ended up being much cooler than the other side. The back part of my house was not as hot as my front part of the house because the water had cooled off because of the way they had hooked it up. It was very frustrating. It was reasonable but you get what you pay for. They did come back and they did definitely try to correct the situation and I do appreciate that but it was just a very unfortunate and poor experience. I love my kitchen, I love the cabinets and everything but there is some workmanship that is very poor but I don't want them back in my house again, my husband will take care of it.

Bob Hammond, initially surveyed job, initially there was apprehension as to scope of work owing to damage present.side of house . was approximately 6-10 degrees out due to insufficent support of roof.Bob was very explicit about actual cost owing to what was evident.further investigation showed that entire roof beam was not contiguous and some areas would have to be repaired for proper repair.

They are general contractors. They didn't complete the job. They were competent. I would hesitate to use them again because they did not pay close enough attention to detail. I would not recommend them to others.

We had contacted Larsen Home Improvement after seeing their sign on a neighborhood house and really admiring the remodeling/dormer work they had done. So I did some research and saw their reviews here on Angie's List. After our initial call, we were contacted back within a day and set up an appointment with our sales representative, Kevin. Right from the first moment we met Kevin we liked him. He was very professional, courteous and informative. His extensive knowledge helped guide us and it was at Kevin's suggestion that we ended up adding a closet, which we had not considered and now upon completion are so happy we did because it really enhanced and completed our home. Their price was reasonable and fair so we decided to go ahead with the project. All of our dealings with Larsen were fantastic. They took care of getting an architect and all permit requirements. Our project manager was Steve, who was great and ndash; he was on site every day, was always available and kept us informed every step of the way. From Gerry, who does the details and finishing's, to Liz in the office (who is the nicest person) we were always made to feel like we were a priority. We were given a timeline once construction was underway and they stuck to it, even with some weather related delays and ndash; nothing was held up and job was finished on time. Each day the workers cleaned up everything, nothing was left out of place. It was an ideal experience and I know that in a few years when we decide to dormer they will be the first call we make. THANK YOU LARSEN FOR MAKING OUR HOME SO BEAUTIFUL!

It is a local company. They are general contractors and they do almost anything. Their reputation, their record with the Better Business Bureau, their part in the consumer care and their attractive bid made me to hire them. Their commitment, they make mistakes but they come and fix them. They are not perfectionist but they are committed to the job. They give good value for the money you pay. I would consider using this company in the future.
