This company did major exterior and interior work on my home several years ago. Windows, siding, interior renovations etc. The first thing I noticed was that the agreed upon contract price was constantly increasing based on any and all perceived "additions" that were necessary to finish the job but were not included in the original quote. I understand that there may be additional charges for unforeseen items--like needing to replace some exterior sub sheathing which you can't see until you remove siding, stuff like that. But I don't understand additional charges for a temporary header for a replacement window which should have been obvious and other items like that which bumped up my final job cost by at least 10%. I'm not talking about job scope changes here! The reason for this unsatisfactory review is a much more major concern. Two large Bonneville bay windows were installed by Case with roofs but no lower supports, and are now sagging so much that the sashes on the side bay windows no longer lock. This situation was apparent almost from the get go but it has progressed to the point where I am now worried that they will fall out of the house! My initial call to the contractor shortly after the install went nowhere. He blamed the windows and would have to charge me for a fix. I was upset, thought I could live with the problem and did nothing. However, the sag has gotten worse. I just called the contractor again and was willing to pay them for a fix (jack the windows, install lower support brackets, re-integrate with the siding) even though I have been told that this sagging is a result of an installation mistake. After giving me a quote which I accepted and after agreeing on the style of the window supports we would use, the contractor abruptly called me back and said they were too busy at the present time and didn't want to do the work! When I asked him how he could be too busy to fix windows he installed that appeared to be ready to fall out of my house, the owner of the company said the install was done when his (now retired) father was in charge--although he was there as well--and then he just hung up on me.
Description of Work: Gave me a price to fix sagging bay windows which they installed a few years back. I told them to go ahead but then they abruptly called me back to say they were too busy and were not interested in doing the work. When I asked how they could be too busy to fix a potentially dangerous situation in my home which was caused by their faulty installation procedure, the owner of the company just hung up on me.
