I am still left with a badly damaged floor which I can not replace, unless I replace nearly all of the 1000 square feet, since this flooring has been discontinued. I can only hope to find someone to replace some of the worst of the damage with the extra flooring which was returned to me. UPDATE: After being sent to Consumer Affairs, he returned the box of flooring he took, and refunded $2200.00.
Description of Work: This is a followup to a report I posted earlier. A report to local consumer affairs offices, and negotiation, resulted in his refunding $2200.00 of the money we had given him, and the return of the extra box of flooring which his men had removed, which they said I had not paid for - it was extra. He supposedly has to apply for a license, as well, since it appears he was required to be licensed, and he was not.

The men working seemed okay for most of the job, but then again, I did not get down on the floor to inspect every plank. On the second day, it was raining, and they could not do the cutting and sawing outside. They refused to work in the basement, and insisted on doing the work in the hall, right on top of flooring which was already installed, with no protection for the floor, whatsoever. What did not show up till the next day, when the sun shone in on the floor, was an entire hallway filled with scratches and dings, due to their making my hallway their workshop. They also cut away too much of the moldings, trying to shove the flooring under them, created some slivers of wood as they joined sections, which they left to stick up out of the wood planks (which I later found in the living room and dining room when I got down on the floor to run my hand over each area), ruined the doors they had to cut down, and did not cut the floor evenly where it met the kitchen saddle, which looked ridiculous. They would not redo that section, and wanted to put a piece of shoe molding over the uneven gap, which I refused. Unfortunately, I did not get down on my hands and knees to examine all the flooring carefully, which was really necessary in order to see all the damage. Although Mr, Leeds, of Floral Park Design Center, had said he would replace any damaged areas, he reneged, and said his men did not create the damage. I have also been unable to find out how to remove the glue residue. In addition to all this, since the time gap between the contract and actual work was quite long, I forgot that he had charged $300 for moldings, which, as it turned out, he never provided. I bought them myself. Unfortunately, because I did not remember, he was paid that $300.00 in the final check. Although he told me twice that he was sending me a check. he has not done so, and he does not return calls.
Description of Work: Had almost 1000 square feet of engineered wood flooring installed. Some plywood needed to be put down to level the areas which met. Doors needed to be cut down, and moldings installed after the flooring was put down.
