Everything went extremely well. Matt and his team are very knowledgeable, respectful, kind and nice to work with. Their only concern were for me to be happy and for the place to look nice. They did the work in a timely manner with very good quality. They also repaired a lot of things that the other contractors had done poorly at no extra cost, they just wanted to be sure I would be happy with my place. I cannot say how lucky I am that he accepted to take over this job - all other contractors did not want to take over the job that other people had started and especially seeing it had been done in a poorly manner. Matt wasn't super comfortable at first doing so either but did it since he is someone who cares, and I am now so happy about my place and have tons of compliments - anyone I know doing work at their place always ask me for his contact details! For sure, I would go with no one else if I have to do work again.
Description of Work: The work was to completely remodel a full bathroom + bedroom + Flooring in bedroom and corridor. The context is important: I had been struggling for more than 10 months, as two other contractors did the rest of the work (another bathroom, kitchen and rest of flooring) and had left the place in a really bad state, doing job of a really poor quality and taking much time while I was living in the place.

I recently hired Matt and his crew to renovate the kitchen and hardwood floors throughout my apartment. This was undoubtedly the best experience with a contractor I have had to date. From the beginning and throughout the process he was quickly responsive to any questions or concerns I had. We did a somewhat high end renovation with custom cabinets and an integrated refrigerator. They handled every aspect of the renovation with meticulous care, and the results prove it. The crew is uniformed and professional. The head worker Mateo is extraordinarily talented and very pleasant to deal with. The price Matt quoted in the beginning is what I paid at the end; no up-charges despite a few changes to the plans here and there. C&M is not the cheapest, but it's worth the price and wait to have excellence.

We are so happy with our new bathroom! We hired C &M Home Improvement to remodel the bathroom and are very pleased with the work. Matt was always available to answer all of our questions before, during and after the renovation. His workers were skilled, neat, and pleasant throughout the job. We would highly recommend C&M to anyone who is planning to do work on their home. Our new bathroom is beautiful!

The renovation was awesome! It turned out better than I could have expected. Matts team is meticulous to detail. The tile work was very well done. The team takes their time so to get the details right so the overall renovation took about 3 weeks. The team is very punctual and professional. The team also paid close attention to keep the apartment clean and tidy. Matt also was able to recommend a great tile store (Classic Tile) and plumbing store (Park Slope Plumbing) whom he has a great relationship with so he was able to follow up directly with them on my order deliveries. I would highly recommend C&M.

Response from CNM Construction
Hello, this is Matt. Sorry to hear that you feel this way. I want to say anything is possible but I’m the only one that makes appointment for estimates. I don’t recall this address nor do I have an appointment to do an estimate for you in my book . There are a few other company in the New York area with the same name so it’s possible that you called someone else . I personally respond to all of my calls whether or not I am able to do the job. That is the reason for which I use my personal cell phone which is displayed on the Angie’s List website to avoid an incident like this. However, if you still need an estimate from me please contact me at the number below and I will be more than happy to do so. Thank you for the opportunity and have a great day! All the best, Matt 718-541-3700
We knew it would take a while to get on Matt's schedule, but it was worth the wait. Matt recommended a cabinet and tile place that he had a good relationship with. He finished the job in 3 weeks, as promised, and everything went well. We were gone most of the time he was working, which was good, as our place looked like a disaster zone. But when we needed to be there his guys cleared things out enough so we could use the place. Our new kitchen is beautiful and we love it. Matt charged $24,000. That did not include cabinets, tiles and appliances.
Description of Work: After Matt renovated our bathroom in 2014, he was the only person we would consider to renovate the small galley kitchen in our studio apartment.
Matt recently completed the second major project for me. I cannot praise him and his workers enough. The job was done to my utmost satisfaction, in a timely manner and within the proposal amount. The work included new floor moldings in my apartment, installation of recessed lighting and other new lighting fixtures, a complete paint job and building of a new bedroom closet with new doors. The workmanship is spectacular with attention to neatness and detail. The installation of new lighting fixtures required a few visits by the electricians and all of my requests were fulfilled with speed and great professionalism. Every detail was finalized in the most perfect manner and my apartment was left in excellent condition. Matt is always available to answer questions and requests quickly and competently. His vast experience contributes to him offering outstanding advice. He regularly checks on the work progress and supervises the job personally. He notes everything and proactively insures every small detail is attended. He remodeled by bathroom two years ago and did an equally outstanding job. I highly recommend Matt Zacheo and crew and would only use him for future projects. It is a pleasure to work with a true professional.

They were excellent. No problems with them. A little pricey but very, very good. They were on time, they made very good suggestions. There were a couple of issues that we had to work around and they were able to come up with a solution. They managed the whole job because there were a lot of different people, companies, like for the counters and cabinets. They were able to manage it and get it done in a timely manner.

Matt and his crew did an absolutely spectacular job with our renovation. They were extremely professional, kind, and trustworthy, and the quality of their work was wonderful. They also were very adaptable and had great vision -- they suggested things, and implemented ideas I came up with, throughout the whole project. They were also neat and tidy the entire time, from demolition through the end. They realized we were living in the apartment during the renovation, and ensured to always give us space to do so. I understand why C&M is booked up 6 months in advance -- it's because they put the time and effort into every project. While our project took longer than expected (that's always how it goes though, with remodeling) I really cannot say enough positive things about how everything went. They are THE contractors to go for in New York, period.

The scope of work included the removal of all existing walls, floor, ceiling, lighting, and fixtures in a 14' x 6.5' sq ft master bathroom in Chelsea. The gutted room was entirely reframed to maximize available space and to create new storage. Upgrades to the original space included a new rain shower and 4 new shower jets, heated floors, heated towel racks, all new lighting, Internet and TV hookups, a new sound system, a new free standing tub, a wall mounted Duravit SenoWash toilet, new double vanity and fixtures, and new in-wall cabinets and niches for storage. The contract/agreement was for labor and standard building material only (drywall, framing). I provided the tile, paint, fixtures, lighting, shower glass, toilets and tub. I had an A+ experience with Matt and his team. C & M arrived promptly each day at 9am to start work. They were never late and never missed a day. They worked cleanly and efficiently. The quality of the work was excellent. Multiple adjustments to the original plan were accommodated with no added expense except for the relocation of the bathtub drain which I never originally intended to move. Matt and his team were professional, responsive, courteous, easy to work with, and extremely fair. I have never received better value for the work performed by any contractor. It is the best team of professionals I've ever worked with. Quality wise, the work is excellent. Also, whenever I ran into an issue with the design, Matt had a solution. Several times, Matt recommended special fittings for the plumbing to get an additional inch, or half-inch, of space which made all the difference to the final look. The only drawback you may experience is an initial wait. When I first contacted Matt, he came out immediately and provided a quick quote for the work but Matt told me the start date would be about 4 months out. I seriously did not want to wait that long to start the work but after reading the reviews of C & M’s work, I decided to wait. Matt was booked solid. Now I understand why. C & M is an excellent company very much in demand. It was worth the wait. I will never use anyone else.

These guys are so professional, reliable, and will do whatever you need to get done. If they don't have the specialty experience, they have a long list of high quality contractors lined up to pull in as needed. They are very conscientious of required timelines, and will work with you to achieve a professional result on time, and on budget. Couldn't be happier with the result! We use them again and again...

They did a terrific job, Were totally responsive to my needs. Their crew was excellent too. Matt was very cleaver in solving problems and issues that come up when renovating a 60 year-old studio apartment. I could not have found a better contractor. And his price turned out to be the most reasonable. At at the very end, a few months after his work was completed, he came back with his crew to help resolve some issues with another building component that I had farmed out to another vendor, but which which was not completed correctly, so Matt and his guys came in and finished the work of the other vendor. 5 stars, totally. highly recommended!.

Project went very smoothly after lengthy approval process was completed and within limitations imposed by co-op board on work scheduling. There were no charges added to the contract price. Provider was extremely clean in demolition and debris removal and keeping noise to a minimum as verified by building superintendant. Quality of work was excellent as were suggestions on material and fixture suppliers much of which was ordered on line and promptly delivered and picked up by provider at work site. Provider went out of his way to maintain the livability of apartment during renovation, especially the bathroom. As a result, less than 10 days of alternative living arrangements had to be made. Matt has a congenial personality and is easy to deal with. His assurances along the way that all was going well and on schedule in dealing with all the complications that arise in these projects were greatly appreciated. He quickly responded to all inquiries.
Description of Work: Provider did a complete bathroom and kitchen remodel in a 1950's era Brooklyn Heights co-op and repaint of entire apartment. This included design work for submission to co-op board for approval and demolition of existing conditions, installation of appliances, tile and floor work, and re-wiring. Above cost of service does not include cost of fixtures, appliances, and tile.
I owe it all to fate that I found C& M Home Improvement and now have a beautifully renovated apartment. After much time passed without my finding a contractor I felt comfortable hiring, a friend of a friend happened to suggest Angie?s List. I thoroughly researched many of the companies listed and C & M clearly stood out. The reviews on various sites were consistent with one another and with the references I later spoke to. They uniformly cited the quality of the work, the project finishing on time and on budget, and the high regard they had for Matt Zaccheo and the workers assigned to their projects. My experience was the same. When Matt arrived for our first meeting, unlike the other prospective contractors I had interviewed, he removed his shoes before entering the apartment, which for me, spoke volumes about him. It might be an exaggeration to say that ?he had me at the shoes,? but future contacts with him did not disappoint. He communicates well and we were able to work together to accomplish my goals. He had great suggestions and was also open to my suggestions and taking a new approach. He remarked that he always learned something new on each project. For example, when we discussed how to deal with my no-longer-standard-length bathroom wall, he made a couple of suggestions and I made yet another one, which he was receptive to trying. It came out great and he has since told me that was using the same approach on another job. Matt was very easy to reach by phone, text, or email, and he returned messages promptly. It was also important that over a 2½ month-long project he was a very calming influence. The two main workers on the project, José and Pedro, were terrific. They were hard workers intent on doing the best job possible, and were always pleasant and accommodating. Nothing was too much trouble. They, along with Matt, were also very well regarded by my building?s personnel, which also helped ensure that things went well. A short while after the project?s completion, when I met with Matt to go over various ?punchlist? items, he went above beyond what he needed to do, as was generally the case during the project. Similarly, when I later called him to relate that new carpeting to be installed would not clear the beautiful new doors in the room, he immediately offered to shorten them, rather than having the carpet installers do it. It was apparent that he not only wanted his client to rest easy about the work to be done, but that he also took pride in the project and wanted to ensure that there would be a good outcome, and this was very much appreciated. The project?s results exceeded my expectations. I would recommend C & M Home Improvement without hesitation.

Having had a great experience with this company a few years ago when we had our basement gutted, we decided to have them gut our upstairs bathroom. Matt Zaccheo, owner of C&M, provided us with an estimate and was able to arrange for the work to be done in a few months. Warning: Matt's team is in high demand because of their excellence in renovations so you'll have to wait for the work to start. I will never use another company, so I don't mind. They are well worth the wait! Matt's crew of Jose and Vincente did demo and Reno of the bathroom in about 3 weeks. They were so careful protecting the rest of the upstairs rooms - had heavy plastic from ceiling to floor with zippers to enter each of those rooms. It really kept dust to a minimum. They also asked for our input regarding tile pattern and placement, always providing us with options. Jose and Vicente arrived each morning by 8:00 and worked continuously through the day until about 5:30-6. Before leaving each day, they vacuumed up dust and took up drop cloths to keep the house in minimum disarray. We so appreciated that! This company is terrific - not only because the work teams are the absolute best, but because the company owner is honest, ethical and demands the best from his guys. He sets a high standard and it is met. The proof is in the product. I am happy to say I have a beautiful new bathroom for my family. We couldn't be more pleased!

I usually don't write reviews but I was so satisfied with my experience with C&M and Matt Zaccheo that I felt compelled to rejoin Angie's List and write this long overdue review. To echo what others have said, it was a pleasure to work with Matt and his crew. I've gotten many compliments on the quality of his work from people who have seen many apartment renovations (building staff, cabinet contractor). Matt is a consummate professional and he will respond immediately to any phone call or text. He takes pride in the services he provides and he truly will bend over backwards to make you happy. Oh yeah, his quote was the most competitive of 5 that I got for the job and he did not go over it. Do yourself a favor and use Matt and C&M for your next renovation project, you will not regret it!

The entire process was easy and stress free. Matt's crew were careful, polite, neat, and detail-oriented. I ordered my tiles had them delivered to Matt. He also arranged for the delivery of my bathtub, etc. When I decided I wanted a fan installed in the new bathroom Matt picked out the best one- it is so quiet! I had one pipe surprise and Matt simply called me and emailed pictures of the bad pipe before I decided to replace that also. The best part: I bought a medicine cabinet that was too tall for the space. I thought I would have to replace it or some other hassle- NOPE- Matt had a great idea and his crew modified the cabinet so it fit by taking a couple of inches off it and rebuilding it. No one would ever know ! it looks great. If you are not experienced at having someone work in your house C&M is the company you need- honest, kind, reliable, and calm. If you do have experience with renovations Matt will make the next reno your best.

After reading some reviews on the internet, my wife and I decided to give C & M a call to discuss our intentions to gut and re-build the bathroom in our old home. Left Matt a telephone message, and he responded almost immediately. We set up an appointment at our home (this was October 2014) and he arrived on time. Matt is a great guy, a family man, and we immediately took a liking to him. We discussed our plans, and Matt made several suggestions, including names of bathroom fixture suppliers, tile stores and the like. He was also honest in explaining that he had a waiting list, and does not like to take on too many jobs at one time. Matt advised us that he would call when we are next in line, and did just as he promised. Work began at the end of December 2014, and ended the last week in January 2015. During this time, Matt's guys worked from 8 am to 6 pm each day (excluding weekends). They were professional, neat, hard-working and genuine nice guys to boot! Matt showed up almost every morning to go over that day's work, and was available to my wife and I by telephone and email immediately. The house was kept neat, and the guys spent a good half hour each evening cleaning up. Honestly, we had the most amazing experience working with Matt and his team, and the end result was the most amazing bathroom we ever hoped to have!! Thanks, Matt - we hope to work with you again the the future. Andrea & Michael

I first contacted Matt via Angie's List in May 2014. He answered within a a few hours, told me he couldn't do the job until the end of the summer, at the soonest. Based on the great reviews he got on Angie's List, I was willing to wait. He arranged a meeting within a few days, showed up on time, told us what he could do and agreed to take on the job. Then began the long slog to get permission for the renovation from our building management. Matt was familiar with this process, and patiently submitted and resubmitted everything they needed. Because my summer activities interfered, we didn't get the building approval until September. We met again--he was very accommodating about setting a date--we ironed out some details and Matt then made suggestions about where to chose tiles and fixtures. I stayed in touch with him every couple of weeks about the start date. He was able to do the work while we were out of town, so we avoided a lot of disruption. I felt very comfortable not being on site, especially since Matt and I emailed, texted or talked by phone daily. Matt established a great working relationship with the building super, which helped a lot. When we came back, his guys only needed to do a day and a half of work. Because a few things still need to be delivered, the bathroom is not 100% done, but it is completely functional. It looks great and we are totally satisfied.
Description of Work: Completely renovated our small bathroom: converted bathtub to a shower, installed new sink, new toilet, new tiles, new ceiling, upgraded plumbing and electrical. NOTE: approximate cost of service did not include tiles and fixtures (which came to about $9,000)
Without a doubt, C&M Home Improvement should be nominated for the Page of Happiness and honored by Angie's List with a Super Service Award. I have had an overwhelmingly positive experience with Matt Zaccheo and team, Vincente and Jose, of C&M Home Improvement. I say this because I know I can be a demanding perfectionist, but all of my requests and concerns were managed in the most professional and genuinely caring way. In no way am I confusing my experience with luck. Matt Zaccheo's expertise reveals a gentleman with having years of experience with an impeccable attention to detail, accuracy, cost modeling, and mitigating problems. I digress, this is where I count my blessings and say thank you, thank you, thank you to Angie's List for having the foresight to recognize and honor excellence among service providers, which isolated the cream and assisted me in my selection process -- and what a great selection I made in choosing C&M Home Improvement -- their reviews are so well deserved and so true. I approached Matt with a challenge greater than a home improvement renovation. My mom decided that this year her birthday should be greater than a gift in a box, or cash in an envelope, or a family reunion -- been there and has done that all more than once. This year was the big one. She pulled out her bucket list and hit us with the idea that she has never lived alone -- she lived with her parents, my father, and after my dad passed she has lived with me, but this year she wanted to experience what it would be like to have her own apartment and live the single life! Oh, by the way, did I mention that this year was my mom's 98th birthday -- still young, feisty, demanding, and with much love expects her wish to be fulfilled. This is where Matt comes in. I met Matt and asked if the impossible could be accomplished in such a short period of time -- and as I have now learned in what I call "the only way Matt knows," he said, "No problem." --And I said without much conviction, "really!!!" Well, Matt weathered all of the problems and made difficult very, very possible. Mom, like Cinderella, arrived at the Ball, entered her apartment with much joy and surprise, but more importantly, knowing the condition of her apartment, she just could not believe how her ugly duckling of an apartment became the Bell of the Ball -- so beautiful! To Matt and team, from our family, thank you from the bottom of all of our hearts. There is no contract or dollar amount that could have made my mom this happy. Matt shared with me that the goal of C&M Home Improvement is simply, "To provide their customers with only the highest level of service from the beginning of their project to the end." Having spent these past weeks with Matt and team, my testimony is to confirm with great love and respect that C&M Home Improvement stands by its commitment to quality and high standards, and has more than earned the reputation that they continually work so diligently to enjoy, no matter how small or large the job. My best advice, don't second guess yourself, if you are seeking any type of home improvement, C&M Home Improvement should be your choice. They are so good that there might be a wait, but trust me, you will never regret your decision. Go forward and all the best.
Description of Work: Demolish previous kitchen by removing an interior concrete wall that was not load-bearing. Gutting and removing old cabinets and appliances. Erect new wall and install new cabinets with new appliances, new plumbing, electrical upgrades and designer backsplash. Demolish previous kitchen floor and install sub-floor in order to install new flooring that would continue pattern of remaining floors. Create a closet wall in the hallway with mirrored and wood bi-fold doors for clothing, linen, and utilities by erecting petitions, door frames, shelving and moldings. In order for the mirrored bi-fold doors to fit in the given space, part of the concrete petition had to be chipped away and refinished. Upgrade bathroom with ADA approved toilet, vanity/sink/faucet, mirrored medicine cabinet, grab bars, and light fixture. Removed floor to ceiling closet doors in the bedroom and replaced with standard height wood bi-fold doors by framing in doors with sheetrock and trimming with molding. There are not enough positive words to describe Matt, the owner of C&M Home Improvement. We first contacted Matt last September of 2013 to inquire on renovating our kitchen and bathroom. I mentioned to my wife that he is our man after our first face to face meeting. Matt is such a delight to work with. He is very professional, knowledgeable, friendly and patient. We must have called him a dozen times before the project finally got started in July of this year; and there was not once he didn't return our call promptly if we had to leave a message for him. He mentioned to us that his goal was to make his customers happy when the job was completed, and I must say he delivered on all counts. Matt also recommended various reliable vendors for materials and services which was very helpful and saved us a lot of time. During the renovation, Matt was on site everyday to review progress and to provide advice when adjustments were needed. By the way he communicated with his workers ,we can tell that Matt really cares for the people that work for him. He treated them like colleagues and family. He said that the most important advice he has for all his workers is " To treat each project as though it was your own" and the result is evidenced. Now on to the craftsmen, Mateo and Juan, the two young men who produced the stunning results. We would describe them as very polite, experienced, accommodating and they exhibited excellent work ethics. They arrived every work day on time and worked tirelessly through the day, then made sure the place was cleaned before they left. Mateo, the project leader, always discussed with us what to expect before work started each day, and answered all questions expertly. He did a lot of show and tell which was very helpful for us to decide if a choice was needed. To watch Mateo and Juan transform the much needed kitchen and bathroom updates, from the initial demolition to the completed project was like watching two artists in motion. Matt, Meteo and Juan, we love our new kitchen and bathroom. Thank you so much for bringing the beauty back to our home. We definitely will recommend C&M without any hesitation to others for similar projects.
