We discovered soon that Stephen, without our knowledge, outsourced the project to Frank Buckley (the owner of Buckley Contracting), and this arrangement went really poorly. After many complains regarding this outsourcing arrangement (Frank was very bad), we asked Stephen to take full responsibility of the delivery and oversight of the project.
Even after then Stephen's involvement in the project was only to handle arguments between us and Frank. Such disagreements were many, since Frank was not part of the contract negotiation and was unaware of our agreements with Stephen, and Stephen did a poor job communicating the project requirements to Frank. All in all, Stephen never provided the GC oversight to our work, and we had to do this oversight ourselves.
4 weeks before the completion date of the project (6 month project), Stephen disappeared from all communication and 2 weeks later he called to tell us that he quit the project, leaving us to deal with Frank for the completion because he had financial disagreements with Frank. He said that he got only $10000 for his work from Frank. Moreover, ignoring all the agreements that we had with him, he said that all the payments were made to Buckley Contracting so all the legal action should be against that company and he is clean.
5 months after the completion deadline which was the 26th of August, our project is still not done.
An honest person would never do something like this.
