See above. It went SO POORLY. I (the female) was afraid and nervous to be in the house with the workers because I didn't know what they knew about the horrible situation that Mr. Palladino created. It was very tense and uncomfortable. In fact, when installing one of the cabinet doors, Palladino's son (who was working on the job) told me that 'this defect (a raised, U shaped bump on the door) is most probably a hair from the brush used to apply the stain". I told him that that door had to be returned to the cabinet manufacturer for replacement. He (Nick Palladino) told me "it's not that bad and a replacement might have the same mark". I told him that none of the other doors that we already had have that mark and that it needed to be replaced." He was trying to encourage us to not return damaged cabinet doors, but to actually put them on and keep them! Not one person from Palladino Building/Southeast Kitchen and Bath were concerned with the customer. We have been intimidated, verbally abused, bullied, lied to and threatened. The entire experience, for us, was totally awful, horrific and upsetting. There was absolutely NO REASON in the world for Mr. Palladino to yell at us 5 days into the job, when in fact, we were correct that many of the cabinets and doors were damaged. He didn't apologize, he just continued for the entire job (over 4 months!) to ignore us, delay delivery of items (one door handle took over 2 months to arrive), order the wrong items (wrong size door handle, incorrect handle for sliding glass door). There was no verbal communication from Mr. Palladino in the final two months of the project. He certainly was not professional, honest or receptive to his client's needs, wishes and concerns. UPDATE 4/22/13: We ended up in small claims court with this contractor because he did not give us the money refunded to us by the cabinet manufacturer. Instead of communicating with us in an attempt to resolve the issue, he put a mechanic's lein on our home. He totally ignored our communications to him. We ended up winning our claim, as mediated in court. Don't let the pretty pictures fool you - this is one company you do NOT want to get involved with. No customer service, no communication, no concern about what the customer's needs/wants/desires are. There are many other reputable and good companies in the area that do the same work, but with communcation, good will and customer service.
Description of Work: Kitchen renovation: Contractor was hired to redesign the kitchen with a more functional space. In addition, two half walls were demolished, one window was taken out and replaced with sliding glass doors. On day 5 of the job, the cabinets arrived - COD. We inspected the cabinets and noticed defects on several of them. While this was occurring, the carpenters had removed the window, leaving a huge hole in our home, preparing the space for the sliding glass doors. This was on February 3. After we inspected several of the cabinets, we told the contractor that we could not accept them, as there were too many defects. The contractor, Anthony Palladino, turned to the wife and, while shaking his finger in her face, yelled "Do you want me to shut the job down? Let me do my job." He was abusive, not professional and certainly not looking out for the interests of his paying clients, We had no choice but to accept the cabinets as we did not - could not - have the job shut down with a gaping hole in the dining room wall. All cabinets were installed. 1 cabinet and all the doors were returned to the cabinet factory (Lewistown Cabinets) after consultation with Lewistown's representative Mr. Tice at a meeting at our home with Mr. Palladino and my husband. It was at this time that my husband pointed out to Mr. Palladino that the over the refrigerator cabinet and refrigerator panels were too short and were not as Mr. Palladino said they were to be (cabinet out to the edge of the refrigerator and about 1 inch above the top of it, and panels covering the black on the sides of the fridge. Mr. Palladino said "I forgot to measure the depth of the fridge" and "On Monday I will remeasure.". On Monday, we received a call from the office secretary Cynthia to say we'd get something in the mail soon. We got a Work Order for $1220 to replace the cabinet and panels. He expected us to pay for his error! After this, Mr. Palladino just stopped communicating with us. He did not show up daily on the job site (as he told us he would be). The plans showed the incorrect molding; when the carpenter started putting the molding up, as per the plans, we told him that was wrong. He said he was following the plans. We told Mr. Palladino about this; he told us that yes, we were correct and gave us a photo of the correct molding for us to give to the carpenter. The carpenter then complained and moaned to me about having to take down the work he had already done. We had to have a meeting with Mr. Palladino so my husband could tell him that he needed to be more responsive, and be nice to me (the woman), as Mr. Palladino was very disrespectful on several occasions (invading my personal space by reaching into a folder on my lap, not returning my phone calls, sneaking into the house via the back stairs (when he did show up, he didn't let us know he was on site) and yelling at me when the cabinets arrived. Mr. Palladino continually showed NO professionalism, no interest in looking after his paying customers, was rude, insolent and non-communicative. I, the woman, was afraid to be in the house when the workers were here because I was afraid that he might show up and... yell at me, ignore me, do whatever. I was nervous in my own home!! After several phone conversations with the president of Lewistown Cabinets, we were given an $800 credit for one cabinet with shelf holes not aligned (so that the shelf would not sit straight). Mr. Palladino and his crew never noticed this defect and installed the cabinet. Of course, the cabinet could not be used because the shelf rocked. Even after Mr. Doug Kerstetter (president) told me that the $800 would be sent to us. When the $800 check didn't arrive to our home when we were told it would arrive, another telephone call was made to Mr. Kerstetter. During that conversation, he backtracked and told me that he had to send it to Palladino, because that is who contracted with Lewistown. Mr. Palladino is now refusing to issue us this credit. Again, he was not spoken with us, but instead sent a balance sheet to us, without the $800 credit. This after our balance due was totaled with the credit; because we have reported him to Putnam County's Department of Consumer Affairs, he is now angry (we guess) with us and has taken away the credit from the cabinet company.
