Good. He also leveled the keys and did some other work for a small charge.

I called him and he came back to tune my piano. He comes out about every six months because the keys slip after being played awhile.

When other tuners might take advantage and sell me on doing work that might not need to be done, Joe was extremely honest I need not tell you what a delightful talker Joe is. You have probably read it in the other reviews. But I was especially impressed by Joe's honesty and his ability to tune accurately and quickly. I have a Mason & Hamlin AA (6'2") that is about 100 years old (built in 1914, so it's a Boston Mason & Hamlin from the company's Golden Age). The piano had not been tuned in about 2 years and Joe worked quickly and expertly to bring it into tune. What especially impressed me was that when other "ethically challenged" tuners might have taken advantage to sell me on doing work that might not need to be done to an older piano, Joe was very insistent that I did not need to do any work. He discovered a crack in my sound board, which didn't affect the sound of the instrument, and when I questioned him about replacing the sound board, he told me not to. He said the sound board was perfectly fine with the crack and it would be a needless expense. He also steered me away from re-stringing the piano because it wasn't really necessary. Further, Joe advised me to get a whole house humidifier and what level of humidity to set it at to help maintain the piano in the Vegas dry climate. All in all, I was very impressed and told him I would have him back in 4 months to tune the piano again. I highly recommend him.

Joe has expertise and skills that the average piano tuner doesn't have. He can tune and repair your piano. He is upfront about what needs to be done and cost involved. Joe takes his work very seriously and has pride in what he does. He keeps you informed as to what he is doing and why. He wants you to receive value for your purchase. We highly recommend his services.

Joe Powell was a good communicator, scheduled and accomplished the tuning in total agreement. He is quite a talker, interesting person. The tuning was done very proficiently and the piano now sounds much better. He has made some recommendations for tuning twice a year and for some additional adjustments of the piano action - which I will schedule with him later in the year. Joe is a most interesting character. He is knowledgeable about this craft and goes about the tuning with enthusiasm and competence. I will definitely call upon him for all further services. He did not attempt to "sell" me more services that are obviously needed. I am now an older man who plays moderately often and well. Days past I tuned pianos in Ireland. So, I am well aware of the process and results. I was completely satisfied that Joe Powell did a very commendable job and would not hesitate to recommend his services.

Tuner did not tune to A440 as requested. The whole piano was sharp at A443. I had another tuner do the piano and he stated this was a problem with this tuner.

Joe certainly knows his business! He's a fountain of information and experience. Another reviewer described Joe as a "character" --- I'd say this is an understatement. If you love a extremely chatty and gregarious service provider who will "talk your ear off", Joe's your man!

Joe has correctly identified himself as a character, but I can add, a good character. His work on my piano was just what it needed. I intend to use his services again this summer.

A very good overall, as I am a musician also. Good meeting, conversation and also gave me added advised regarding recording and guitar tuning.

Joe was very professional and knew his business. My piano sounds beautiful again! And for those of you who are piano nuts like me, he tunes by ear, not by a machine and he's got a great ear!

Everything was just fine. He was friendly and good at his task and gave us good advise about keeping the piano well maintained.

Joe couldn't make our original appointment, due to illness but rang an apologized and fixed another date within a couple of days. I don't play the piano, and am tone deaf, but my daughter tells me the piano is now vastly better.

We were satisfied with him and the job that he did. He brought it back actually before he said he would. He explained to us what he had done to some extent. He was cooperative. I think he should have had a letterhead or card or something to leave with us when he took the parts with him. We are satisfied with the quality of his work. The piano is forty years old so only so much can be done with it. He was punctual and professional.

I went out of town for a couple of weeks and gave Joe a call to tell him when I'd be back. He told me to call him on a particular day, and we'd set up a time for him to bring back the refurbished piano parts, give the piano a final tuning and regulate the keys. I called him on the agreed upon day and he told me that he would be available in the early afternoon the following day, and that he would call when he knew for sure what time he would able to come over.The following day, he called me and told me he could be at my house in an hour. That worked for me, so he came over, put the piano back together, and performed the other work. Every string and every key was attended to, and the warped key fit perfectly.
