B & C FLOOR

It was made clear from the beginning that we were on a tight schedule as we had upcoming open houses the following week. I was told it would take 5 days if there was furniture in the house and 2 days if the house was without furniture to have our wood floors refinished and tile put into our kitchen, hall, and laundry/utility room. He had 7 days to work with and we went out of town for 3 of those days so we wouldn't be in the way. We de-cluttered the house but there was some larger pieces of furniture still in the home- therefore the job should have taken 5 days. The pros: The wood floors look amazing. The cons: The owner is not punctual and often misled me as to what time he would be here (ie: not showing or coming several hours late). He called out 1 day and attempted to do so a second day until I got our realtor and the contractor who referred him involved and he showed for work on that day. His not showing on this date would have moved our open house back 1 week. Due to his poor time management he did not leave enough time to put tile in the kitchen laundry/utility room- he was planning to begin this on day 5 of the job and on this day informed us it was a 3 day job. Instead we had no choice but to go for laminate tile- which we did not want but we needed to have a finished floor for the open house. This flooring looks cheap and within 2 days of installation one of the tiles had already chipped. His laminate guy did a sloppy job and he covered up areas where he did not cut the tile correctly with a strip of wood. He also tiled over our 2 access points to our crawl space which we need access to. He said he would come over that evening to fix it, didn't come, and we had a different contractor fix his mistake. In the laundry/utility room he didn't finish tiling the whole room and instead of removing old chipped tiles that were not attached to the floor or cleaning the surface he was putting the laminate tile on he just tiled over it. This tile only goes 1/2 way back and then transitions to the old, worn, broken original laminate tiles that were previously there but falling apart. The tile work looks cheap, sloppy, and unprofessional. At this point I was so exhausted over having to deal with the owner and out of time where this could be fixed I had to let this go. Aside from the fact our old laminate floor was stained by a decades use I think it looked better than what is currently there (there was older laminate tiles in the laundry/utility room). The owner of this business will charm you but does not follow through on his promises of when he's going to be at your home and his poor time management and unskilled worker left us with a kitchen and laundry/utility room that I'm sure the new owner of the house will want to remove and replace soon after moving in. Avoid this company.
