"We would like to respond to Mr. [Member Name Removed]'s review by first stating that the project was delayed from the start since the customer was asking for a custom made beam that we had to research and get certified and with todays supply and demand this obviously took some extra time and we kept you informed the whole time even giving you different options and beam choices. Our crews have been on many jobs and never treat any home with disregard and even while the house was a construction site the guys are always told to clean up after themselves on a regular basis and remove all trash daily. In fact we actually we removed extra trash for you on several occasions and carried large items to the curb that you couldn't manage at no additional cost. Unfortunately the heat did get shut off and we are not sure how that happened either we were not the only contractors working at the house, but thank goodness nothing did arise from that situation. In response to our guys not securing the house we are not sure if this happened and how because our foreman are very responsible about making sure that every job site is safely secured before leaving everyday. The washer and dryer reconnection was done by another sub contractor that you hired if we would have done the flooring as proposed and moved the appliances we would have certainly made sure that the appliances were reconnected properly. Doug and the office manager and foreman were in daily contact with the owners until they tried to micromanage everything and change prices and negotiate everything constantly that problems started to arise. Unfortunately if we were in full control of the job as planned and it went ahead as proposed I strongly believe you would not be writing the negative review you did. As you can see with all of the problems that you had when you tired to get a deal and micromanage it didn't pay off. The Minerva Team"
The bathroom job was done in May 2011 and included a one year warranty. They had to return once after the initial painting to touch up several parts of the tub and surround. That was done without any problems. There were a few over-spray issues which we didn't complain about and took care of ourselves. Even though we didn't feel that the overall results compared favorably with the quality of prior Minerva jobs, we felt we could live with the results.
In January of this year we noticed that the paint applied to the bathtub started to flake off exposing the original finish. Needless to say we were unhappy and we reached out to Minerva to see if anything could be done to solve the issue. I left several phone messages and e-mails but never received any response.
I can't argue with the fact that the problem showed up after the warranty period had passed. However the total lack of response when compared with our previous experience with Minerva has left us somewhat baffled. At this point we see no other option but to replace the tub and surround. Of course the reason we went with the painting in the first place was to delay that for a few years.
All in all, very happy working them and would definitely use them again.
We were very happy with all the work that was done. We will be definitely using Minerva Finishes in the future and would highly recommend them!!!!
We are very happy with the work that was completed in our home. Everything looks great and I get some many compliments on my counter tops!!! We would highly recommend this contractor.
"In response to the complaint that has been filed against our company. The member for work that was performed in her house. When Doug met with the member she wanted to remove the deck and Doug told her that the handrail needed to be reinforced which was on her contract and after removing the handrail we saw the additional boards that were rotten and needed to be replaced. We showed her the boards that needed to be replaced and completed the work. The boards on the deck that were replaced with Red Western Cedar which was purchased from Medford Cedar Products, Inc. I have enclosed a copy of the receipt for your records which the client was provided with a copy. We contacted Chip Scheibner in regards to this complaint, he meet with Doug on site to inspect the boards and confirmed they are cedar. Enclosed is a letter from Medford Cedar Products confirming his finding on the wood that was replaced. This wood was additional work that was not included in the original contract. The cost of $952.60 includes the cost of the materials for #13 Red Western Cedar boards and the labor for removing the old deck boards and cutting and installing the new deck boards. We used Cabot decking stain on the deck. Unfortunately, with the deck being exposed to sun and elements it needs to be maintained. The deck needs to be cleaned with a chemical. The member also mentions about time frame it took to complete her job which she said it was a month or over. The job started on July 2, 2009 and was completed on July 21st. We did miss July 3rd as the holiday fell on a Saturday and our employees were off for the holiday. The other days that were missed were July 16th and 17th due to an employee being out sick. Unfortunately an employee being out sick does affect our schedule at times. The nail pops and cracks the member is speaking in reference to could be due to a numerous things such as structure, roof, settlement and existing nail pops. The member did have an addition added onto her house and mention to us prior to starting the job the roof needed to be replacement. We were unaware about the situation about the power washer that she mentioned that a former employee Jim of ours took. This employee has moved of state. We have spoken to the other painters that were working there at the time the member also have Jim a bike and there was another transaction with an air compressor. She mentioned that Doug Minerva, owner was not on site. Mr. Minerva does not physically work on the job sites, he does on the site inspections."
