He just used the snake to unplug. That did not work and after ten minutes he when out side and found that the main sewer outside line was clogged. He did not clear the problem and charge me $201.42.
Description of Work: Eddie, found that the problem was in the main sewer outside.I would have to pay a extra $363.00 PLUS TAX. Found that this problem was not my responsibility.I also did not get credit for Angies List member coupon. If anything I would not call Roto-Rooter again. That was to much money for half hour of work.

I called them and they sent a tech named eddy. He tried to snake my toilet and realized there was a bigger problem. He was here for 30 min, charge me $201.42 and did not fix the problem b/c he needs to access the main sewage line which he found outside. He also did not give me the Angie's List coupon discount. A follow up to this report: Roto-Rooter sent me a follow up form. I filled out the form, they called me to day letting me know that i would be refunded the full amount because they couldn't correct the issue.

They were good. They showed up when they said they were going to show up. The people that came knew what they were doing. They got right to the problem and cleared it out. They were gone inside of about an hour and twenty minutes. Their price was a little steep because you could get other plumbers to come and snake the sewer for under a $100. Once, I found out that other providers came and snake out your sewer for $65. I would use their services again in the future but it would be after I had checked all the places to see if I could get something for a lower price because $360 for an hour’s worth of work was a big steep.
Description of Work: I used the services of Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Drain Services. They had a snake out of the sewer blockage and basically getting it functional again. They gave me three years warranty on it.

The repairman came within an hour of the phone call as promised, even though it was a Sunday. The work was performed promptly and the repairman left the area clean when he finished. I don't know if the cost is comparable to others performing similar work, but it seems consistent with other work from other plumbers.

Excellent. The plumbers (Vinny and Elvys) were great. They were professional and friendly. They worked hard to complete the work in a timely fashion. They were prompt and kept us informed along the way. Vinny assisted us getting the City inspector and Utlility Company to get the gas turned back on.

Even though it was stressful and more expensive than I expected (b/c of the clearing the clog part of it), I never thought the technician was trying to "jack" up the price or gouge us. I was more appreciative that RR had people on hand to provide this service on a Sunday afternoon. The tech stayed until 5:30 PM to complete all the jobs.
Description of Work: Our drainage pipe bursted on Sunday morning. I discovered this around 10:30 AM. We called Roto-Rooter (using the yellow pages) at around 11 AM and someone picked up right away. She said there was someone in my area who could assist and should be available at my house in an hour. I thanked her profusely. Then I received an apologetic call saying the personnel was assisting another home and may be delayed but should be able to make my house, I just need to be a little patient and they would call with update. Turned out, no waiting necessary. I got another call half an hour later saying a rep was on his way. He came by 12 Noon. The rep was cheerful and reassuring. He took a look at my pipe and immediately diagnosed the issue. He asked me if I used liquid plumber recently (which we did! And a lot of it too, to my regret!) and pointed to three small (but sizeable holes at the bottom of my drainage pipe. He said he would need to cut and replace the section of the pipe with the holes. This would cost about $450. I said fine. He left right away to get the pipe parts before the stores closed. He came back around 1:30 PM and started to work through 3:30. When he tested, he noticed the water wasn't clearing through that section of the pipe correctly. That's when he discovered I need to clear up this huge clog in my pipes (it's a more technical term and I believe from googling it, you are supposed to do it periodically - we hadn't done this in five years). He brought a huge machine down to our basement and did that for us. Because it was an accidental job, he gave us a discount ($250). We bought some organic bacteria "draino-replacement" from him ($50). After taxes, it was close to $900.

I called Roto Rooter to clear a backed up tub in a second floor apartment at about 5:00 on a Saturday night, in bad weather. They picked up the phone, were polite, professional and responsive. They charge no fee to come look at the issue and give you an estimate, and are prepared to address the problem on the spot. They were there by 7:00 pm, with a nice guy who had the right tools. All good so far. At the end of the day, to clean a backed up drain, the estimate was $350 for one pipe (the sink), or upwards of $500! to do two! I am not sure if that is the standard quote or the Park Slope reverse discount, but IMO it is steep. I called Roto-Rooter this time because plumbers are notoriously expensive, and they usually hit you with $150 plus just to walk in the door and look at your issue, and I thought R-R would be a cheaper approach. They were not cheaper, but to their credit, they do not charge a consultation fee, so you can just tell them thank you and send them home. In my case, I needed it done then and had to bit the bullet (it was $400 with tax). There is an saying in many business' that there is good, fast and cheap, but you can only get two of the three at any given time. I got good and fast. It was not cheap. I noted above I would not call them again. I should caveat that with "unless I really needed to", and that really goes for all plumbers. If you can deal with it yourself, or get a handy man, go for it. If you need a plumber, you need a plumber and you are going to have to bite the bullet.

A few months ago we had a nasty drip in the bathtub faucet. Our typical New York City landlord refused to fix it. Our superintendent, who offered to charge us to make the repair, couldn't screw in a light bulb. We had an idea based on my experience living in Los Angeles, where there is a large Mexican community, as there is in my Brooklyn, New York neighborhood. They're very hard workers and fair at pricing. We thought we would try to find a local freelance Mexican plumber from among the pickup workers who congregate every morning, and so we did. Guess what, As usual, New York isn't LA, these guys did a horrible job and totally overcharged us. I tried to negotiate but their tactic was they weren't going to leave until they got what they were asking for. A few weeks went by and the repair they did broke. Now we had no hot water. I called the Mexican plumber who told me his partner was in South America, but he would find another guy. They came over and looked at the fixture and told me it would cost $150. I thought it should cost nothing. No, $150. I told them that would have to come with a guarantee. OK, they would guarantee one free visit. Think this was annoying? I didn't, because I watch Flipping Out on Bravo, and I see that contractors are hopeless. Well, these two clowns sat in the bathtub and stared at the fixture for two hours before telling us it's OK. Nothing to be done. I was pretty fed up and said OK, go home. So the guy tells me, that's $150. What? Are you kidding? You did nothing, I tell him. And again he goes into the not leaving until he gets his money routine. I gave him $120 and he left. That's when I called RR Plumbing / Roto Rooter. The man came in two hours and 20 minutes. He said the cartridge was blown. He left and got another one, for which he charged more than he should have, given that the whole fixture cost $89 at Home Depot. He put it in, and now it works. Period. Professional, polite, job well done. I learned my lesson.

Three days before the sewer line replacement, we called Roto Rooter to trouble shoot the problem (sewer backing up into our basement). Even though it was a Sunday morning, a technician arrived promptly at 1:30 PM as I scheduled with the person over the phone. He was very friendly. He spoke about his experience, and he explained what he was doing as he worked. When he was not able to clear the line, he explained what the likely problem was and why it was serious. Another crew came to examine the line and provide me with a quote for the replacement. They were professional and worked very quickly. I was disappointed when I took the 0% financing offer when deciding to do the work and then found out that it was a credit card financing deal. I wasn't offered the opportunity to pay on my own credit card. So, I ended up with a credit card that I didn't want. The workers arrived promptly to replace the line. They had to dig a six foot wide, nine foot deep trench across my yard. Although they told me that they would not be replacing the landscaping, I was disappointed at how roughly the dirt was put back in place. I will need to spend a couple thousand dollars to get my yard back together. I appreciated at the end of the job that they showed me a video of the sewer connection all the way from my house to the city sewer connection. I am confident that the actual job of laying the pipe and connecting it was done well. I don't expect to have any problems with my sewer connection ever again with this brand new pipe having been laid.

There was a leak from my kitchen to my basement and I couldn't figure out why. I had Roto-Rooter come in to give it a look to see if they could find the problem and give me an estimate. They couldn't figure out the problem with certainty which should have been my first clue to get someone else to do the job. The plumbers told me they thought it might be the water line from my refrigerator to the water source that was leaking. They would replace the plastic tube with a copper one and this should fix the problem. They gave me an estimate of $300 to do this. I had them come back in a week or so to do the repair they suggested and come to find out the leak continued to happen. After I showed them there is STILL water leaking to my basement, they kept poking around my kitchen and told me the problem is the internal water line to the refrigerator and they can't fix it. They still charged me $178 and didn't fix the leak! TOTAL RIP OFF. I should have went with my gut when I saw the plumbers didn't seem like they knew the first time what the problem was and had someone else take a look. I basically paid to have a service done that I didn't need done because of these guys. I definitely do NOT recommend them.

Went very well from start to finish. Phone answerer was very polite, almost too nice - haha, considering my toilet was overflowing into my basement and I was not in a great mood. Guy was there within the hour, Keith correctly diagnosed the issue and fixed it.
Description of Work: My toilet stopped up and started overflowing into my basement, plunger didn't do the trick. Call my regular co. but got no answer. This company took my call right away, was very pleasant and had a guy at my house in under 1 hour. He correctly diagnosed the problem - stopped up main line to septic tank and fixed it. Would recommend him again.

At the oringal visit, the serviceman unclogged the tub drain. He also said that he checked my toilet at no extra charge and adjusted something to improve its flushing. Over the next couple of days the toilet stopped flushing altogether. i called Rotor Rooter and they said they would send over the same serviceman to recheck. Well, to make along story short, they sent over a different serviceman, who had not been told the history of the situation. He wanted to charge me $250. to fix the toilet flusher unit. I told him that it wasn't broken before the other guy touched it and therefore I didn't think I should have to pay to fix it. Calls went back and forth to the dispatcher and to the original serviceman and the result was that they would give me a $40. "coupon" discount off the price. I said no. I felt as though I was being ripped off. He left. But now my toilet is still not working. I'm very disgusted.

Other than the fact that the plumber took 90 minutes to arrive (when the call center said under 60) I have no problems with how this all went down. It was great.
Description of Work: My ground level toilet was backing up. I thought it was from the line out to the sewer. The plumber said it would be $415 + tax to open up the sewer cap and snake the line. He did that but it didn't fix the problem. So then, for no additional charge, he tried to access the blockage through the drain from the bathroom sink. This worked! I was very excited because the next step was to take off the toilet bowl, and that costs another $400+. I have NO IDEA what this service would cost with a more traditional neighborhood plumber, but since I called at 6:00pm on a Friday, I didn't have much choice. The plumber was nice, professional and speedy. GREAT JOB.

The service person from Roto Rooter of Huntington arrived promptly and quickly cleared a blockage in the main line during a holiday weekend. However the service was overpriced. They also said the service included a video inspection of the main line but they never called or came back to complete the service. I did not follow-up for the camera inspection because the line was still running slow after the weekend. At that point the company I regularly use for cesspool service re-opened and returned my call. They brought a camera and were able to identify and properly fix the issue for much less than Roto-Rooter charged.

I am very happy with them. They are excellent. I have tried other plumbing companies to fix the problem, and I never got a good result. Then I used Roto Rooter, and they took care of everything. I have had experience with them two years ago. They usually take care of the problem, and they give six-month warranties. They are local. I will highly recommend them. I got some discount from them too. They charge according to the nature of the problem. The person whom I dealt with was very pleasant and very nice. They might be a little expensive. They do a quality of work. They have come whenever they said they would come.

Both repairs went very well and I was pleased with the results.
Description of Work: On March 21, a plumber from Roto-Rooter came to my home to address an issue with the toilet. He also replaced a faulty part on the bathroom sink that was causing a leak. For the sink repair, he had to cut into the wall to replace a pipe. The repair was completed in an hour, and I was very pleased with the result. In early April, I had Roto-Rooter return to address a back up in the main drain line in the house. This repair called for him to carefully remove the cap to the drain line that had been cemented in place, and snake out the line from the basement to the street. Thankfully, he removed the cap without breaking it or the pipe (replacing it would have cost $1,500), and snaked out the line. This repair took about 90 minutes and cost $750. Again, I was very pleased with the work. I would definitely recommend Roto-Rooter of Farmingdale to anyone in need of a plumber.

I always use Angie's List and saw that they had an A rating. Scheduling was convenient. The serviceman arrived on time, he was professional, he reviewed all options for the work, performed his work in a timely fashion, and then recommended future work. Really, it was just about perfect! The only issue may be price, but plumbing is never cheap. I would use them again and I would recommend their work to others.

Called these guys at 7:30 pm with not one but two completely clogged shower/bath drains. Their guy showed up at 9:30; they'd told me an hour, but apparently the previous job kept him longer than expected. But he showed up and couldn't have been more pleasant and chipper. He got the job done and was out within 60 minutes, making very little noise and causing almost no disruption; even put on little white booties over his shoes before entering our home, and my daughter never even woke up the whole time. He explained at length how my galvanized pipes were likely corroding inside, and that Draino and Liquid Plumber contribute to that. He also mentioned that Roto-Rooter can replace those pipes with PVC, so he's selling something, but I appreciated the advice nonetheless. He also advised that for half the price of this job I could buy my own snake or compressor at Home Depot and blow out the drain myself. In all a great experience. The job cost about $350 with an Angie's List coupon, which seemed high but I have nothing to compare it to, and you couldn't beat the service late at night.
Description of Work: Cleared clogged drains in two shower/bathtubs. First used a "snake," then brought out a compressor, basically a super plunger, that did the job in seconds.

We use them on a regular basis whenever we have any plumbing problems. The plumber comes on time and does the work efficiently. He doesn?t fool around. If something is busted and he doesn?t think it is worth fixing, then he will tell you. He constantly tries to keep patching to make more work for himself. I would definitely use his services in the future too.
Description of Work: We use Roto Rooter Plumbers and Service for our plumbing work. Their last visit to our house was in September. We had to have some new water lines put in because we put in a new sink. So, they had to re-rout some of the lines in order to accommodate it.
