Roto Rooter offers immediate service for all plumbing needs which is good. The service technician was knowledgeable punctual and professional. They offer a free estimate before beginning all work. The price was rapacious though. For what turned out to be maybe 40 minutes of work (probably not even that long) , a bill north of 600 dollars really is an arm and a leg. I could see if the job took a couple of hours and was tedious. You really pay a high premium for convenience. Despite the convenience and good quality work, only use these people in an absolute emergency. These prices are only appropriate for 4 am service. You'll need therapy after you see the bill.

The technician would have been here on time if GPS direction should not say "approaching Destination" until making the turn on one way Lakeview Terrace. I called the company, explained the problem, and requested an estimate. The representative said that they would be happy to send over one of their professionals to assess the problem? free of charge? and he would provide an estimate for us. At that point, if we agreed to the fee he would render the service on the spot. If we did not agree, he would leave, and we would not be charged for the visit. So I requested that they send someone over this evening, and they said that they would be able to arrange for one of their employees to come tonight; they would call to update me on when he would arrive. An hour later they called to say that their servicemen were experiencing some delays, but would be there within 2 hours at the utmost. I agreed to wait, and an hour later they called again to say that someone was on their way over, and would be there in about 30 minutes. Right on time, our doorbell rang. The plumber asked a couple questions about the issue (notably, "was anything? an object? dropped in the toilet at any point?"? to which the answer was "no"), and concluded that our first course of action would be to attempt to use a drain auger (perhaps more commonly known as a "snake"). He informed us that the use of that device would cost $125 plus tax. We agreed to the charge, and crossed our fingers that it would be sufficient. After a few minutes of manipulating the auger, the plumber was able to unclog the pipe. However, in the process, the interior surface of the bowl had been scratched by the snake. When I handed over the check, I inquired as to how we would be able to repair the damage to the bowl, and he said that certain household cleaning supplies would do the trick (Scrubbing Bubbles, or Easy Off, for example), and proceeded to demonstrate. He spent an additional 10-15 minutes scrubbing our bowl to remove the scratches using a couple different products we had on hand, alternating between using a brush and a sponge. In the end, the toilet was restored to full working order, and the scratches were barely visible. He also assessed the water level in our tank, and explained that it was not reaching the fill line, which resulted in weaker water pressure (a less powerful flush). In order to adjust the water so that it reached the proper level, we would have to replace the fill valve, which would be an additional $75 if we proceeded at that time, but would be $225 for a separate visit (suggesting that the visit itself was an additional fee, if services were rendered). We declined to spring for the additional repair, as this was the first time in 3.5 years that we needed to call a plumber for toilet issues. The total charge was about $136 including tax, which was significantly lower than the obscene prices we were quoted by two other local companies ($225+ and $260+; and both charged assessment fees whether or not services were rendered). That said, it was still a little pricey for 5 minutes of work with a snake. But we were also given a 7-day guarantee, so should our toilet revolt again during that window, we could contact them for repair at no additional charge. Overall, we were quite pleased with the professionalism, efficacy, and helpfulness of the plumber we were sent, as well as the courtesy, professionalism, and responsiveness of the representative I spoke with over the phone.

We had our heating system changed from oil to gas and the plumber suggested that we should clean the return pipe as it was full of gunk from years of using. He didn't have a long enough snake to do the job (we needed a 50ft snake). We called Rot-Rooter to ask if they do such a job and was told that in some areas they do. First we were told that the technician will give us a free estimate, and we are under no obligation to use them. I explained to the operator again that what we need is just cleaning a straight long pipe, and asked if she can at least tell me about how much it will be (I didn't want to waste his or my time). I was put on hold, and when she came back on the line there was suddenly a different story - I was told that because the pipe connects to the boiler we will have to pay $150 "boiler fee" for the estimate, and that holds even though there was no boiler connected to the pipe! Needless to say that we didn't use them, nor will ever use them in the future. My plumber ended up flushing the pipe with some cleaning solvent and the system works beautifully.

The two days of work went very well. Will 0145, the technician, arrived on time as promised; was very courteous and respectful; carefully explained and wrote out in detail all work to be done; used his phone camera where possible to show us the damage; worked alone the first day without stopping for lunch (said he wanted to finish the job); asked for advice from supervisor for best solution to solve the problem where needed. We were as pleased with the professional way the second day's job was completed , though pricey, and most appreciative that they cleaned up and removed all garbage created from the job.

I explained what was happening, he asked me several questions and determined it was an outside main clog and sure enough, when he checked, there it was. He did not even get upset when I watched what he was doing for a little while and he was explaining what was going on, so I gained some knowledge there.....he was a very nice man had a lot of patience with me......turns out there were tree roots in the line....after he took care of outside line, he came into house and snaked everything inside. This is the third time I have used Roto Rooter and I am very satisfied with them.....all of their employees seem very very nice and seem to know their job.

very professional service person. Asked about the problem, told me what he thought the cause was-roots in the line and proceded to snake the line with a camera to make sure it was clear. He did remove roots. Very efficient, knew what he was doing. Would request him if I should ever have another pluming problem.

Great. He came in and within 10 minutes the problem was fixed. I liked the amount of interaction the during the whole process- the call from the company to let me know he was on the way, the quick service, the follow up call to see if everything went alright, it just seemed like so many things were put into place to make sure your service was as good and efficient as it could be. No room for error.

Bill was prompt, friendly and professional. When we apologized for the gross, mess in the toilet, he responded with "Don't worry about it! do you know what I do for a living? It's totally fine". And then he went to work, snaking the toilet and the shower drain, and even cleaning the toilet when he was done. He explained to us, how to maintain clean, trouble-free pipes and cleaned up after he was done. His work was quick and neat, if a bit expensive. It was worth it though.

The provider is one of which I used in the past. They did some work for me last year and they left the sewer pipe open which allowed the entry of a swarm of flies in the summer which I had to take care of myself. When I realized this year by looking in the crawl space, that the sewer pipe was left open by his workers since last December. I called Roto Rooter and someone was sent the next morning to plug it up. When I looked into the crawl space with the worker I saw a large amount of rat turd. Mr Craig Schwinghammer seemed to show concern when he was called by the worker that day because of my prompting, but Craig insisted that the rats were not there any longer. He left me another week knowing he allowed entry of these rodents and never foliowed up until I called for service on 10/4/13 for a drain in the house to be cleared. I was promised someone would be there between the hours of 6 and 8pm with very powerful rat poison. I had asked him for an exterminator service but he said they can do that. At 9:06 I received a call that they were running late with the previous job. At 9:20 I received a call that they would not be able to come and will be there between 5 and 8pm the following evening. They called at 5:42 and said they were running late and I found out it would be another hour and a half. At 7:55 they called to say they were on their way. A man showed up at 8:36 and was here to clear the drain but knew nothing about evaluating the rat situation and putting rat poison in the crawl space. I was very upst with this and the worker called Craig Schwinghammer. When he finished speaking to him, I was told another worker would be coming to take care of it in a little while and he would take care od clearing the drain. another worker did come at about 9pm but without poison. He helped the other worker clear the drain and promised me he would be back the next day with the rat poison and he did show up at 2;30 as he said to put poison and glue traps. Mr Schwinghammer put me and my family at risk with this situation and I feel he lied to me and put me off to long with this situation. I am still at risk and would not recommend anyone have any dealings with him.

Had used a few times . most time all goes well for a fair price but once the problem was not resolved and I was charged

Sewer cleaning poorly done. Cursory and incomplete camera inspection of the sewer pipe done. Overpriszed.. Claimed a hole and a leak in the sewer pipe . Recommeded me to do sewer pipe replacement with a cost of $13 gram .. Got 2nd opinion from different sewer cleaning company later who checked the pipe again , Reported no break or hole in the sewer pipe and did a better job cleaning the pipe again by the 2nd company. Cost me again for the job .Unethical service by Toto-Rooter Sewer Cleaning and Draining Company in Flusing ( 718-210-1499/877-380-7680)

Estimate was $395 for drain cleaning after spending 5 minutes in the basement. I rejected the bid, used another Angie's List plumber who focused on the kitchen and solved the problem for $120.

Multiple delays over 6 HOURS!!!! And didnt fix something some else did in 45 minutes. Meanwhile I was waiting on the second day for the next series of guys who were 4 hours late when I canceled them TERRIBLE SERVICE NEVER USE!!!

It was very good. The guy was friendly and had the parts on hand.

They were okay. I wouldn't rave about that, but they are what they are. He wanted $800. I said I don't have $800, I'm not paying $800 for something that I'm breaking my back helping you and so is my neighbor so with that right away he dropped it to $200. I didn't think of them as being so honest. He asked me for cash, what company asks you for cash, so that was wrong. I should have called the company and asked them if that was policy to ask for cash. Everybody knows that's wrong.

So my child thought wipes were flushable.......backed the toilet up to the point it came out of the shower. I called Roto Rooter and the lady on the phone was very nice about 7:30 am. Service man arrived about 8:45 and fixed my issue within 10 min. He used the camera and showed me what I was looking at and that he had cleared everything. Very nice man.....very good job!!! 6 month guarantee.

He put on a new flap and made sure the toilet flushed.

Of course, the technician that is assigned can make a huge difference in customer satisfaction. One recommendation is that they should hire more techs with knowledge of pex. The first tech had no experience and only worked with copper pipes. I had to request a different tech to do the job.

Very well. The Roto-Rooter of Five Towns effiecient agent (Gail) took our info, had all previous info in their system, and made an immediate appointment for the next business day. The technician was Pawel (Paul?) who came right on time, was polite and efficient, answered all questions and provided the estimate right away. Worked carefully, protected the washer & dryer from water and scratches, no splatter from the electric auger. Also completed several minor repairs at same time which needed parts I did not have. Got the Senior/Veterans discount and used the Angies coupon. Would definitely recommend this company!

They would not give an estimate over the phone, but as soon as they arrived they said it would be $375 per drain. Why couldn't they do that on the phone? The price was outrageous, and they rely on the pressure of having them standing there looking at you while they tell you what the price will be. They did also replace a trap at no extra cost other than the par, when they saw how upset I was. In the process of doing the work, water leaked out from the pipes around the second floor tub, soaking and damaging the ceiling in the kitchen below, which now will require some replastering and painting. I will NEVER use them again.
