It went fine. They did a very good job. I thought they were a little bit expensive, but they were highly rated and I wanted to make sure that the job got done properly. They were very efficient and they actually did a bit of extra work. It was all fine. They had everything cleaned up. Everything looked good. They were in and did the work as promised.
Description of Work: We had them do some mold remediation in our basement.

We were satisfied with their work. They were professional. I would recommend them to others. They came in when they said they would come and they did what they said they would do.
Description of Work: We had used Absolute Air Quality Inc. They put in a new air conditioning system.
In the aftermath of a wet spring and Hurricane Irene?s tropical storm rainfall, I made several frantic phone calls to various mold remediation companies. Only one, Absolute Air Quality, responded to my phone call in a timely manner. The owner, Fred, spoke with me at length about what would likely need to be done to clean up and restore our fully finished and carpeted basement. I was immediately impressed with his compassion and knowledge. He even suggested that our insurance company might help to pay for some or all of the cost involved. He also understood our concern about the health risks involved in allowing the moisture and mold to remain and scheduled our initial free consultation for just a few days after my initial phone call. In addition to assessing what needed to be done on the inside, Fred also took a walk around the outside of the house and pointed out areas of concern with the leaders, gutters and drainage. He fixed these items at no additional cost. The damage to the basement was extensive. Hydrostatic pressure had forced water through the foundation and soaked three carpeted rooms, one connecting hallway (also carpeted), several cardboard boxes, damaged drywall and ruined our washer and dryer. Within ten days of my initial phone call, Fred and Absolute Air Quality were on the job. Tim and Shane did the packing and moving. They were very careful and respectful of our possessions and consulted me about the handling of every damaged item or anything they had questions about. I had final say on what was to be kept, what should be salvaged if possible and what was to be discarded. We were on the verge of having the drywall installed when we were hit with another severe rainfall, courtesy of Tropical Storm Lee. Water came up through the foundation again.'' It was at this point, after drying out our basement a second time, that Fred said this water incursion would continue with every hard rain unless we took steps to have the basement waterproofed. He said it was in our best interest to have a sump pump system installed and he could not, in good conscience, continue his work until that had been addressed. Otherwise, we?d just be throwing good money after bad. We hired a waterproofing company and a sump pump system comprising two pumps was installed in mid November. Installation of the waterproofing system revealed further water damage had been done in the family room: the third of the three carpeted rooms in the basement. Damage had also been done to the drywall. When the drywall was removed, it was discovered that studs and sill plates needed to be rebuilt and it had to be done without drilling any holes, otherwise, it would compromise the drainage system for the sump pumps. Work re-commenced on the basement in December and it now included the restoration of the family room, in addition to the storage room, office and laundry room initially contracted for. A second contract was drawn up for the additional work. The laundry room was the first to be completed (at our request), but the other rooms followed shortly thereafter. At all times, Fred did his best to keep the costs down without compromising the high quality of his work. He also did not hesitate to let us know when a task was outside his area of expertise, as was the case with the floor treatment. After the basement floor was finished, Fred sent Tim, Shane, Charlie and Lee to move our belongings from the garage back into the now-finished basement.. Lee also did the finish carpentry in the office, transforming the bit of drywall needed to conceal the drainage pipe into a built-in pedestal for an old-model TV. It was a long process to restore the basement, but Fred and Absolute Air Quality were with us every step of the way, from beginning to end.

Fred, the owner, replied to my telephone message very quickly. He came within a day to look at the job and spent a good hour in my small basement looking at EVERYTHING and explaining everything as he went through. It was a very educational afternoon. He saw mold that I thought was just old dirt. He explained everything that he was going to do and how he was going to do it. Because this was a home insurance case, it took quite a bit of time getting the money from the bank and a lot of trouble and hoops to jump through. Fred continued with the job even without payments along the way because of the bank dragging its feet. He was not concerned that he would not get paid. His main goal was to make me a happy homeowner and he certainly did. The inspector who looked over the job was so impressed with the great job that Fred and his crew did, that she asked him for his business card to pass along to other homeowners who might be looking for a mold remediation company. Fred did extras in the basement; i.e., insulation at the top of the basement walls, with no additional charge. I can't say enough good things about Fred and his crew, who by the way were very knowledgeable and knew exactly what they needed to do without constant supervision. Aside from the hassle from my bank, it was a pleasure working with Quality Air. You won't be sorry you hired them. I promise.
Description of Work: Removed mold from my unfinished basement, caused by a leaking furnace, sprayed to deter mold from regrowing, filled cracks in the cement foundation, then completely painted the walls with DryLoc and the ceilings as well. Prepared the space for mold testing.

Rep came and we explained the problem of mold in the attic. He then went to the attic and examined the area. The mold was easily removed he said but that the air circulation needed to be improved before the work was done. This is the work we are currently trying to arrange. Afterward, we will have this company do the mold removal
Description of Work: Rep came and gave an estimate for removing mold.
The guys were extremely polite and professional. They each knew exactly what to do. The owner did spend a few days on the job with the crew, but they didn't need constant supervision. They were all very experienced and you could tell that they they had been working together for a long time. The result was a very efficient process with perfect results. We have no more mold issues and we can even walk in the basement in bare feet!
Description of Work: Full mold remediation and gut renovation of finished basement (2100sqft). The crew at AAQ installed plastic barriers in the doorways to isolate the basement, installed negative air units to exhaust air to the outdoors to control dust odor and prevent cross contamination. They removed carpeting, drywall, framing, wood trim, baseboard and drop ceiling. They arranged for the dumpsters (2ea 30 yard) and removed everything through the house without any dust. They HEPA vacuumed the entire area and ran air scrubbers in the end to clean ambient air. In addition, we had them grind the floors and apply a bonding agent to cracks and rough areas as well as two coats of epoxy.

When I consulted a contractor about remodeling my attic, he advised me that I first needed to remediate mold on the plywood roof sheathing. He recommended Absolute Air Quality of Sussex, NJ. Fred Van Dunk and his crew at AAQ arrived on schedule and immediately set to work. His well-trained and experienced staff demonstrated their competence as they moved methodically from one stage of the project to the next. They showed tremendous care when moving equipment and other items through my home, and were courteous and professional throughout. Fred was on hand to answer any questions I had. Once the job was done, Fred and his crew were meticulous in their final clean-up; the last man out even wiped down the steps with Pledge on his way out! I give them my strongest endorsement for the quality of their work and their personal attention.
Description of Work: Absolute Air Quality started on Monday, April 26, 2010 remediating mold in my attic. They wrapped any items in the atic in plastic and removed them to designated locations in my home. They then set about vacuuming, removing insulation, treating affected areas with home-safe mold killing chemicals, and then venting the attic air out of the house to ensure minimal residual mold. They then encapsulated the space with mold-blocking paint to ensure that any mold remaining on the wood service would not be able to grow. Lastly they ventilated again to allow the paint to dry. Finally, they cleaned up, and brought some items back into the attic for storage.
