Metropolitan Window Fashions

The service provided by Metropolitan Window was horrendous. We had our windows measured and signed a contract on April 1. It took approximately 8 weeks to have the drapes made. That was a reasonable timetable. But, the problems started there. They came to install them the third week in June. They could only do one window because there was a part missing for the rod for the second window. More importantly, they had measured wrong. The drapes ended about 1/2 way down the window when we had clearly communicated that we wanted them to the window sill, so, the drapes had to be remade, besides getting the missing part. That was another 8 weeks. When they finally came to install them in late August, they were missing the entire drape for the second window. The installer promised that someone would call me within days to let me know if they forgot to make it or just forgot to load it in the truck. Never got a call. We always had to chase them down to get the next piece of information. It turns out that they forgot to make the drape for the second window. So, another 8 weeks to get one drape. At that point, when they came to install, they only had the side panels. The valance was missing. That was actually made and just not loaded into the truck, so we were able to get it a few days later. After all that, we are not completely happy with the end result, but it’s not even worth trying to deal with these people any further and the drapes are acceptable. Total time for 2 simple windows was 7 months. In all that time, we didn’t get communications or apologies. We deducted $500 from the balance for our trouble which was what we hoped or expected the company to offer. We certainly will never use them again.

The window treatment was scheduled to be installed by Thanksgiving (it was not).  No problem, since we weren't having guests over.  However, it took repeated calls to finally get the installation.  I found out later that the Sales Associate was on vacation - she should have left a message to that effect on her voicemail, but she did not.  Overall though, we are very pleased with our choice of a Hunter Douglas window treatment (suggested by the Sales Associate).  Even though there were a few bumps in the road, we'd used Metropolitan Window Treatments in the future.  BTW - the installer (Scott) was terrific!  He put up the window treatment in less than 10 minutes flat!!   Amazing!

We moved into a condo in August 2014 that came with older, somewhat decrepit window shades. We have been looking for replacements ever since. We visited Metropolitan Window on a whim in March, 2015 and picked out exactly what we were looking for. 2 days later an interior decorator (Paul) came to show us the options and measure the windows. He was very helpful, and his advice on which options to choose was excellent.
We were given 4 to 6 weeks for delivery, as they were custom manufactured. After the 6th week we had not heard anything, so we called and were told they were expected momentarily, and we would get a call from the installer. We eventually got that call, but there was another week of delay in scheduling the installation. 
The installer, Scott, came at the scheduled date and time, and completed the installation quickly and competently. He was easy to work with and pleasant. We are very pleased with the results, both the products and the installation. The installer also took away the old shades.
The only negative was the missed delivery time window. As we had already waited 9 months this was not deadly, and based on past experience, probably routine for any custom work. And missing by 2 weeks was minimal compared with other contractor experiences we have had.

The show room won't knock you over but they do send the designer out to your home to work with you.  Once you show enough interest they send the designer out to your home with samples of everything you're interested in, whether it's drapes or blinds.  I was interested in both at the time.  Once I made my decision, the designer was helpful in that, they took all the measurements.  There was really nothing I needed to do other than sign a few papers.  Once everything was cut to order they sent an installer or did all the installing for me professionally, he also took down what was there previously and did a good job with that.  What is best is that they leave you with very little to do.  They do all the work and you just write a check.  I don't know how their prices compare to others, I'd have to say they are competitive because I bought high end blinds.  I thought the work they did was very nice.  The over all experience wasn't fabulous, but it was just a gut feeling.  I don't remember having trouble and I'm really picky about response, etc.

Paul Ippolito of Nassau's Window Fashions was a dream to work with. He was awesome. Our shades arrived on time and were installed very quickly. They are beautiful. This company was very responsive and reasonably priced.

THE DECORATOR CALLED ME PROMPTLY, MEASURED THE WINDOWS AND ASKED ME QUESTIONS ABOUT THE STYLE THAT I MIGHT BE INTERESTED IN, COLORS ETC. SHE CAME BACK WITH SAMPLE FABRICS AND THEN MADE SEVERAL TRIPS BACK AND FORTH UNTIL I WAS SATISFIED WITH MY SELECTION.
