Everything went well. Paul kept us updated as the work progressed and provided good ideas/alternatives for the deck. Paul had previously renovated 3 bathrooms in my house and the quality of the work was very good. he became my go-to contractor.

It was a very small job, based on response and professionalism, I would use him for bigger jobs and highly recommend him.

It was a terrible experience. Initially he presented himself as a professional who was capable of helping us re-build our house. He was highly recommended by his friend who was our real estate agent so we didn't interview any other general contractors. We were given a schedule of payments which we abided by until there was an imbalance of work to be done and money owed. On several occasions after we gave him large sums of money, he never showed up for weeks. We were in a mess, initially living in a corporate apartment for 6 weeks with the entire contents of our 2,000 sq. ft. condo in storage facility. We moved our belongings into storage September 23, work didn't start in the house until the end of October. Family did all the work on the second floor so we were able to move into one bedroom November 13. After that, work stopped and no work was done for 2 weeks in November. Work was done very slowly and we ultimately were charged overtime when work was done on Saturday. We were constantly calling and not getting return calls. We would arrange to meet with him and go over what we wanted. He never wrote anything down so when the work was being done, we had to be there to supervise and direct his worker, Don, who was very cooperative. Ziliotto never supervised the job at all. The only time he would show up was when he wanted money and then we wouldn't see him until he wanted more money. We ran the job ourselves. When the work wasn't being completed, we gave him a deadline for the electrician and plumber. As of March 22, we had no water and no heat on the first floor. When we spoke with him, he said the plumber and electrician were afraid to come back because they didn't think they would be paid. At that point, we only owed him $5,000. The plumber and electrician did come and finished their work, other than the lights under the kitchen cabinets which are still not completed and now we have to get our own electrican to finish the work. We didn't want anyone else back and had the remaining work done by our carpenter which ultimately cost more money, woodwork, doors, molding, etc. The plumber (Robbie of Garner Brothers) was very capable and did very good work and he and his son James were very friendly and helpful in all aspects of our plumbing work, especially when the hose from the refrigerator was leaking in our basement. James came quickly and fixed it. However, we were charged an extra $1800 to move pipes to the walls, which we agreed because it was crucial to our design for the bathroom. We paid a lot for the plumbing and we don't know if the plumber received what he should have. The same for the electrician, Eric DeLizio of Del Electric. His work was very good and he seemed sincere until the issue with the under cabinet lights. He did lower his price as the job progressed which we appreciated. The plasters left waves in the ceiling in our bedroom and the kitchen ceiling is also uneven which we learned when the exhaust fan was being installed. We have all Thermador appliances and one of his workers scratched our new range even before we could use it. He had agreed to install an exhaust fan motor outside the house and it was sitting in our dining room with our other appliances and cabinets for weeks while the walls, ceiling and floor were being done. When it came time to install the motor, his worker was unable to do it and we had to order a new exhaust. We didn't want him to do anything after that and had Reliable Renovations (recommended by Direct Depot Kitchens) who installed our kitchen cabinets have his worker install it, at an additional charge to us, but we knew it would be done right. They have a manager, architect, designer on staff which we could have worked with. Ziliotto had no one but himself. We designed our own kitchen and bathroom and used Direct Depot Kitchens which were wonderful in designing and building our kitchen cabinets. We knew at that point that we made a mistake with Ziliotto. This was in November, after not seeing him for 2 weeks. We had to delay delivery of the cabinets because the kitchen was still not finished. The cabinets were in our living room for weeks waiting to be installed. The bathroom vanity was also in our living room for weeks and when they went to install it, they were placing the cabinets in the wrong positions. The cabinetmaker had to be called to explain what to do. Our driveway was damaged as well as the stone wall alongside the dumpster. We still have to repair them. In all honesty, Ziliotto did give us some adjustments on the price along the way, but they were offset by the additional charges for labor. We deducted $700 at the end to have our carpenter complete the work, but it actually cost more. He also wanted to charge us extra to put in the granite door sash and shower ledge which we refused and had a tiler do that. Ziliotto told us to get the granite but never told us he was going to charge extra for the installation. Also the walls in the kitchen and bathroom are uneven that the installation of the granite was very difficult. The windows were not installed correctly and had to be redone by him and ultimately we had to have all the exterior work done by another contractor for $600 extra. We still were not furnished with the warranty for the windows. This was a very stressful time for us and we regretted bringing Ziliotto into our home. During the course of the work when he wasn't showing up, we called one of the people he used as a reference and she said that the work was good but she had to be on him every day and even had to take off from work. The other person we called, refused to give any recommendation and didn't want to be involved.

I contacted the contractor prior to the Christmas Holiday for a quote. He was one of a five contractors I contacted and only one of two who provided a quote. His quote was what I expected and seemed uncomplicated. Scheduling a time for the work became a slight challenge but we finally settled on a day in late January/early February 2010. They arrived on time. The contractor brought two young guys with him who he aside the work. The contractor was focusing on another project in the neighborhood but close enough if needed. The two workers were very experienced and quickly got to work. They removed the old door. Drilled holes in the new door for the peep-hold, sized it up, drilled a hole for the entry security device, installed the door and half-jamb. The door perfectly..with no room for error. They installed the door know and locks, the peep-hole and painted the trim and cleaned up. The contractor followed up a few doors later to make certain all was ok - and it was.

They did a wonderful job. The price was fair. They had to replace insulation and wood back. I thought they were going to charge over a thousand dollars, but the price was so reasonable.
I think he got to big and can't get him again.
