Van With a Man

Friendly. Super efficient in loading/unloading. My only issue is that they were several hours late, causing me to pay uhaul for additional rental time for the van.

They had some issues getting things thru doorways. I would use them again if needed.

Filled out an on-line inventory and was given an estimate. Salesman visited and we physically went through my inventory and their estimate was on the money. Confirmed that they drive directly from NJ to SC and no load sharing. Decided on a date. Had all of their cell phone numbers. The move was completed on the morning as promised. Was extremely happy from beginning to end. I would not hesitate to use them again, and I have no reservations with recommending this team.

Everything went great - very professional and moved perfectly.

Very nice but I think they have some organizational issues. Missed the estimate appt. due to computer issues, but did show up after we contacted them. All was looking very good, but after they left we never heard back from them again. They said they had the quote when called, but all of their promises to deliver it, get back to us, never happened. A call or email saying they couldn't take the job would have been enough. As our schedule is very advanced, we didn't have time to deal with issues such as these. I see from other reviews that this has happened before. Usually not a big deal, but when you don't have time to waste it becomes a detractor.

I had requested a quote. The owner stated he would be traveling to FL and had me fill out an inventory form. After filling out the form, never heard back. Poor customer service

'Van With A Man' was excellent! The movers, led by Sammy, were professional, courteous and moved our wall unit quickly and efficiently with no damage or scratches to either the wall unit or our new hard wood floors. I highly recommend them and would not hesitate to use them again.

Their quote for the cost of driving time was unclear. The quote wasn't totally clear. The truck they brought was too small. On the moving basis, they did fine. In the end, it turned out okay as far as moving.

Tom and Jim were very efficient and did an excellent job. I called in the morning and was not sure if they could fit my job into their schedule. But they did and came when they said they will. In fact I made them wait outside as I was not home.

This was a great move. I spoke to Tommy several times on the phone and got an estimate of costs which was very reasonable. I subsequently emailed him a full list of all items we needed to move. The cost did increase because we added a few things but I think mostly, I probably wasn't as clear as I needed to be in our phone conversations. Tommy's guys, Tom, Jeff and Calvin arrived about an hour late, but I think this was due to traffic (North Jersey can be horrendous). Called Tommy and he immediately returned my call and assured me they were on their way. Sure enough, about 40 minutes later, there they were. The guys were great ... they were easy to talk to, very professional and did everything they could to ensure a smooth move. The overall cost was a bit higher than we anticipated but still reasonable. I would certainly recommend them to anyone. All of our stuff was loaded and arrived in great shape (haven't unpacked yet, but all the boxes arrived in great shape so I don't anticipate any problems). While I don't know Tommy personally, he seems like a fair businessman, and while he is busy, he always returned my calls and emails promptly. In addition, if his guys are any indication of how he runs his business, I would certainly use them again and recommend him.

We were very dissatisfied with the moving services and lack of professionalism and customer service shown by Van with a Man. We set up the move and storage with Tommy, the owner, and his staff for Saturday afternoon. We signed a contract and asked Tommy to sign it as well and return it to us. Although he never signed anything his staff emailed us to say the move was set and they would confirm the time by email. The time was never confirmed but we we were informed they would arrive in the afternoon. By 5pm we attempted to contact Tommy and were told the movers would arrive shortly. Over the next three hours we waited for the movers and attempted to speak with the owner. Finally, Tommy informed us that the movers had been delayed with a previous move and he was busy with his family and could not help us. Finally, by 8pm the moving men arrived and began packing the van. By 9pm my husband and my daughter's Fiancee had to help bring items down to the van or the move likely would have gone on til close to midnight. Approximately 2 weeks later, the items were removed from storage and delivered as scheduled. Unfortunately, the wood kitchen table was badly scratched, several other pieces of furniture were scratched, the legs to the disassembled kitchen table were missing, and one of the movers scraped the ceiling as he carried a large dresser on his back up a flight of stairs. The movers assured us that the table legs would be mailed immediately and that Tommy would promptly contact us to provide repair of the scratched table. After waiting about 5 days, we contacted Tommy ourselves and the movers were sent to bring the table legs and repair the kitchen table. The guys brought furniture markers and attempted to fix the scratches by coloring them in. Of course the scratches are still there! I would not recommend Van with a man moving services. While I understand that things may go wrong with a move, we basically felt like we had to constantly push Tommy to get the move done and he was too busy to care about customer service.

This has been by far the most professional and courteous moving crew we've worked with. Phil, Craig & Tom were the guys who actually came for the moving. On the day of the move, they arrived about half an hour ahead of schedule, and got started right away. It turns out I had under-estimated the number of boxes we would pack ourselves. Phil said they won't charge us for the additional boxes, but instead will bill us $75 for the packing and crating of certain items that they did not anticipate. They even disassembled and then re-assembled our queen size bed, which I didn't think they would do. Weather wise, it was one of the worst days this summer, with temperatures well over 100 degrees. Yet, they worked without long breaks. With the actual move, they were very efficient and careful in moving the stuff, both while loading (carrying it 2 floors down) and unloading at the new house. I had a 27" CRT TV (heavy!) that I asked them to move to one of the upstairs bedrooms, but later realized that it took up too much space, and asked if they could move it down into the garage. They did it without a grudge. The only 'negative' thing I'd say was related to the pricing. Tommy's estimate was approx. 5 hours (@$150/hr + $125 for travel). They ended up finishing it in 4 hours. However, Phil said that the quoted price was a minimum for the company to do business. Perhaps I should have checked ahead of time if the price would be lesser if they finished sooner. But I let that go, considering how well they handled everything. All in all, we had a very good experience on this move. We would recommend them and definitely consider using them again!

After reading the reviews for this provider there was no other chice for me. The only negative reviews were by people who did not actually hire thie provider. that is a bum rap!! So I knew this was the place to go. My call to Tommy was returned promptly. He reviewed his prices and policies with me. We set the date and two days later his men appeared at my door. They were friendly, courteous and ready to dive into the work. I took them to each room and explained what needed to be done. The tough room for me was my daughters bedroom that had a bunk bed that need to be better positioned in the room. Of course that meant moving everything. they were patient as we looked at all of the possibilities and finally there was a consensus. to scratch the walls, or the furniture.They were extremely helpful and very careful not to scratch the furniture. Before they left they made sure everything was done to my satisfaction. the minimum time with this as all companies is 3 hours. They were complete in less time than expected. So, to my surprise, and delight, Tommy gave me a break on the cost of the move. he did not have to do that as I knew what the charge was going to be. But that is the kind of businessman he is. fair and honest! This was a very positive experience. I was glad I used this provider and anyone looking for a mover should use VAN WITH A MAN!!!

Called on June 29th 2015 spoke with Tommy. He said he needed to call me back he did not have schedule book with him. Waited all day for call back . NOTHING!! Gave another chance called and we set up appointment for Wed. July 1st at 2:00PM. Tommy called about 1:30 to tell me he was backed up and we rescheduled for Friday July 3rd at 2:00. It is now 3:00 no call, no Tommy NOTHING !!!! He should be taken off your list!!!!! Diane Ferreira

I spoke with Tommy several times prior to the move he gave me a set price and he assured me that enerything would go according to plan. Tommy sent Phil, Carlos and Rich to move my stuff. They were very careful not to damage my furniture and the apartment floors. The move was set for a five hour window, they moved me from apartment to apartment in less than three hours. I'm definitely going to hire them again for my next move.

Price was reasonable and they were very courteous. They protected everything really well and nothing was damaged.

My two movers were exceptionally professional. They called me shortly before they arrived. The tank weighs 310lbs and they were very careful and cautious in moving it. They placed it exactly where i wanted it.

These guys are excellent. They were very good with our belongings, even fixing something I broke some time ago. The loaded up a truck and van and held it overnight as I needed and delivered it the next evening, after the closing to the new home, even though it was late in the day. They gave us a bed to sleep in that night. they didn't rip us off and even the guys themselves were very professional and polite in our stressful time. I would recommend them as well as use them again.

They are good. They always return my calls in time. They were an hour late but it was okay.

They were great! Moved all our stuff, set it up,and were very nice!
