Steve from King's Tile was great when he came out to give us an estimate and show us the photos of his work (although he called at the appointment time to say he would be a half hour late). King's Tile had been recommended by a friend whose cousin works there and whose work we had seen. We thought the price was fair and the timing was good -- he wrote out an estimate and told us how much tile to buy to accomplish what we had in mind.When the date of the install came (June 25), Steve called to say that one of his workers was having trouble with his vehicle and that they wouldn't be able to start until the following day, but that they would be there first thing in the morning. Instead, they showed up at 2 p.m. and were gone by 5 p.m.! The same thing happened each day they worked -- they arrived hours later than they were said they would and then left after only a few hours of work. It took them nearly a week to do the job (and they still had to return to install the granite seat and sills, which they did a week later, and it took 3 guys to do it).During the entire time King's Tile was working at my home, they left their tools, garbage, and contents of their truck in our garage, making it impossible to maneuver and/or do any other work. We were aware that they would not be responsible for taking away the construction rubbish, however, unbeknownst to us, they threw their lunch trash in as well, leaving us with an infestation of flies!!!We were very disappointed with the workmanship as well. Because we trusted our friend who recommended King's Tile, we trusted Steve to do what we talked about when we first met. Unfortunately, we did not draw a diagram of EXACTLY what we discussed. Consequently, we have decorative tile along the floor of our tub and shower stall rather than as an accent two-thirds of the way up the walls. When I explained my dismay to Steve, he said it was his recollection that I wanted the tile along the floor. This is hard to believe, since a) it looks ridiculous; and b) we had three boxes of decorative tile left over, based on what Steve specified for us to buy for the job! We had to return $350 worth of tile to Home Depot.The tile work itself is no better than I could have done myself. The grouting is uneven -- either they did not use spacers, or didn't know how to properly use them -- and there are rough and crooked edges everywhere, including along the edge of the tub. The corner shower seat is not fully grouted at the ends where the granite meets the tile; there's missing grout in the floor and walls of the shower; the bull nose edges are uneven and the one corner by the tub was so bad that my husband redid it himself; and they didn't install the flat soap dishes I requested (Steve told me he didn't see any soap dishes with the tile so they assumed I didn't want any). To make matters worse, the floor tile was cut too short along one wall, leaving a 3/4-inch gap between the floor and the wallboard. We had to build out a piece of trim and then fill in with grout. And my bathroom door is covered in grout along the bottom and the edge near the door handle. Basically, the job is a mess!Unfortunately, I was in the hospital at the time of the install, so was unable to inspect the work every day, but I thought I could trust a professional.Several people -- including my friend who recommended King's Tile -- told me I should have had them come back and rip the entire job out and redo it. I don't want King's Tile to ever step foot in my home again. And they should be embarrassed by the work they left behind. I'm sure the letter and photos I send to Steve will not be ones he features on his website or on his iPad when he meets with future prospective clients. King's Tile may have done and continue to do superior work for others -- and I'd like to think this was an anomaly and that the workers who did my bath are no longer working for King's Tile -- but I cannot recommend them based on my experience.
Description of Work: Installed tile on floor, shower floor and stall (including mud pan, granite corner seat and sills), and tub surround in a medium-size master bath -- labor only (we purchased materials based on King's Tile recommendation).
