After meeting with a chilling lack of interest from various contractors for a few small tasks I needed done around the house (and yes that includes contractors on Angie's List, who are listed as handymen), I searched the internet and found PMG. Since they are based close to where I live, I called them and spoke to Geoff Allen, the proprietor, on a Saturday, to see if he would be interested in this job. He readily agreed, He and his colleague Cedric came on Monday to take a look at the work that needed to be done, and assured me that they would be happy to take care of it for me. I needed a bunch of old blinds removed and replaced with new ones. In addition, the old metal drapery rods were falling off of the walls, and one of them almost came down on my father's head. Geoff and Cedric said the old rods hadn't been anchored properly, and that's why they were falling down. Further, a window contractor in attempting to install external windows, ruined the surface of 3 of my window sills. I needed them re-surfaced, and re-painted. I also needed 3 new light fixtures in the foyer and the closet, and a couple of paintings hung. I asked Geoff to send me an estimate for the job, which he did very promptly, and sent it to me the next day. Since it was very reasonable, I hired him for the job. It took a few days to get the COI and license information over to the condo management, and Geoff came today in the morning with his partners Cedric and Sam. All three of them were outstanding. They did very clean and neat job on all of the tasks. Cedric took great care to anchor the drapery rods carefully to the wall, and made sure that there were no weak points anywhere. He and Sam cut the rods to the right length before installing them, and then they hung the drapes. Since I had asked them to install the rods closer to the ceiling, so that the drapes would not pool over the radiator (my home has both very high ceilings, and I have window heating/cooling units), they took care with figuring out just how high the rods should go, and installed them just right. Geoff installed the light fixtures for me, and he was incredibly quick and neat at the task. All three worked on re-surfacing the window sills and painting them, before installing the new blinds. In addition, Sam found that the windows hadn't been hung properly by the window contractor, so he hung them back properly to eliminate drafts, and caulked around the windows. They did everything in one day, instead of splitting the tasks over multiple days, unlike some other contractors. They were also very clean and tidied up after they were done. I should also mention that all three of them are really jovial and nice, and were a pleasure to work with. All in all I was very happy, and I will definitely be using them again for other tasks around the house. I can't recommend them enough.
