I have a leased Infiniti G37 sedan that needed a regularly scheduled service/maintenance. The dealership was quoting roughly $400 for what was basically an extended maintenance for for oil etc, that you normally would pay 30-40 dollars. Elmwood quickly understood what I needed done, and went to work right away. Everything was completed in under 2 hrs and I saw delivery of NAPA parts for my vehicle. In total, the service cost me half of what the dealership was quoting and Ive had no issues since.

From the moment I entered the waiting area I received professional treatment. After the car was put on the lift, Dennis took me into to garage area to show me a cracked tie rod that needed to be replaced. (He noted that it did not have to be done right then, but he wanted me to know that some time in the future it would require replacing.) All of the work was completed in a timely manner and because I was there during their lunch time he even gave me a slice of Pizza. The car sounds excellent and it was a great experience.o

Made an appointment at 11:30am for 1:00pm same day on a Friday. Heavy traffic to reach the location, past the Bergen County Mall area. Met with mechanic explained that the car needed a 30,000 service. They worked on the car immediately. Whole process took about 2 hours.

I have used Elmwood Certified Auto many times after finding them on Angies list. They are very perceptive and always find the problem. I will continue to use them again. Their prices are very reasonable.

They were very reasonable, as well as nice and friendly. They seem like competent mechanics and were very nice to deal with. They knew I was waiting there for the car and they finished in about a half hour, it was very efficient.

For starters, I was almost in a panic when I saw my red oil light. I took the vehicle to one of the big chain auto places that I hate to do business with because I think they see dollar signs anytime you enter their establishment. I was told that the oil pan was rotted and needed to be replaced and that I had an additional leak in the steering rack. I was further told the entire job would cost $1,400. Fast forward to me clicking on Angies List and finding Dennis Hios of Elmwood Certified Auto Service. You have restored my faith in humanity. I did not believe that the 2 words HONEST & MECHANIC would ever be used in my vocabulary or in my lifetime. I drove over an hour from Orange County New York and will do it again in a heartbeat if I experience any other problems in the future. Everyone I spoke with on Thursday knows about his expertise and honesty. Timing and pricing was dead on. If you don't want to sit and wait for your vehicle, have someone accompany you and go to Garden State Plaza Mall which is minutes away as I did. Elmwood Certified Auto Services well exceeded my expectations for any auto mechanic. At first I was a little sceptical because the service center is part of a gas station. However, after calling to set up an appointment, I was seen promptly upon arrival. Typically I am used to just having to drop off my car and wait a day or so before having to call them back to see if someone finally looked at it and then wait another 3-5 days before I get my car fixed. Even then, the problem is not always fixed. At Elmwood Certified, Dennis and Charlie immediately greeted me with a smile. I asked for someone to ride with me so they could hear a few noises the car was making. After the ride, they told me to wait 15 minutes and they would tell me what was wrong. Ten minutes later, Charlie came back out with an estimate and a reasonable idea of what was wrong. I had taken my car to 3 other mechanics in 4 states over the past few years for the same problem and no one could diagnose it. Charlie told me that it would be about an hour and the car would be fixed. When I returned, the car was ready and I took it home. Although some of the noise I had been hearing disappeared, it was not gone completely. I brought the car back, and immediately Dennis took a ride with me to confirm that we were hearing the same thing. He did hear the noise and put the car up on the lift. There was a loose bolt in one of the brackets that had been rattling around that no one had ever seen and there rust in one of the rotors from the emergency brakes. He personally took the rotor off to show me the rust and wear. Afterwards, he cleaned and lubricated the rotor and did not charge any extra for the time or labor. He admitted that the rotor was not perfect and because the car has over 100K miles, there would be some squeaks. A major overhaul would be required to completely diagnose and fix of all the noises, but he didn't want to spend any unnecessary money and told me to come back if it got worse. He was right that it is still not perfect, but I am obsessive about my cars, and it still feels and sounds better than it has in years. Elmwood Certified was the only place that was able to find the problem, and they did so in such a short time. They were honest and did not try to rip me off. I have been seeing the same mechanic for 12 years now with all of my family's cars because he seemed to be the best of the worst out there. After this experience, I will not only make sure that Elmwood Certified is the only place I take my car, but I will refer anyone that needs an auto mechanic to them. I have lived in 4 states over the past 7 years and always come back to NJ to visit family at least twice a year. From now on, even when I am out of state, I will come back to Elmwood Certified if possible to have them work on my car.

Found this station here on Angie's List, and just had to check them out after reading all the great reviews! We've been living in this area for over 4 years but my Toyota doesn't need much maintenance other than regular oil changes. The same thing with my husband's Hyundai, we had no reason to find a good mechanic. We've got two long road trips planned in the next couple of months, so we decided to have the front brakes and the tire pressure gauge light checked, which went on over a month ago after an oil change, (done elsewhere), on my Toyota.I'm very impressed with the work! Dennis is very personable and friendly. He made me feel right at home, asking if I wanted the TV on, telling me where I can buy coffee (next door), etc. A long-time customer came in soon after me and had nothing but praise for the shop, which is in the Citgo gas station. She and I read our books while the men worked in the service bays.Dennis offered alternatives to replace the front brakes and rotors, explaining the difference in cost vs. quality. I went with the quality products. He re-set the tire pressure light, no charge, and even put the car back on the lift after I asked him to rotate my tires.When my husband's car needs work, we will bring his here too. We're happy we found them through Angie's List. Would not have known about them otherwise. EXCELLENT experience all around, can't ask for more!

I was actively searching for a mechanic I could TRUST close to home and I have finally found a home for my Jeeps. Before using Angie's List, I would bring my Jeep to places and ask for estimates of work that I was aware of the ballpark cost. Unfortunately, I found many dishonest people this way and was very discouraged... until I came To Dennis and his shop in Elmwood Park. He was through, honest and kind to boot. He runs a tight ship and I cannot thank him enough for the peace of mind I now have. I will remain a loyal customer and schedule all my maintenance here.

Called that morning and went there around noon. The service was performed promptly and gave me a good quote for replacing four tires.Even a missing tire cap was replaced.

They are very trustworthy and dependable to me as a woman and in knowing literally nothing about cars. To feel like you can trust the person who is fixing your car is just really important. The price wasn't exorbitant. They give you the quote and then they go and do it almost to the penny what they quoted you. They seemed concerned about doing a good job and it sounds like they take great pride in being good, dependable, and trustworthy.

They were very professional, honest and helpful. I would recommended them to anyone and plan on using them again in the future.

I saw Certified on Angie's list and it had good reviews. I took the car and Dennis thoroughly explained the situation. It indeed, needed another catalytic converter and fuel air sensor. He explained why things were the way they were. We set up an appt for Friday morning. I got there and he was ready at 7 am as he said. He also uncovered a danerous tire situation as said at least two tires needed replacement. He showed me why the tire was bad. He explained how dangerous the situation was and I should get at least two tires, if not four. He also discovered that squirrels had been living in the air intake system and left nuts! That had to be replaced. He did everything, even explaining why everyone used to buy tires from China but now that Obama has imposed an import tax on tires from China, a person can purchased tires made in America for the same price. By 9 am I was back on the road with the car working perfectly. You can tell Dennis runs an efficient busines. All three bays were occupied and three mechanics were working hard. There was even a separate guy whose onlly task is pumping gas, thus freeing up the mechanics to do what they do best. These guys are the real deal. Fabulous pro's. I highly recommend this outfit. I live in West Orange but it was definitely worth the trip to Elmwood Park for this garage. I will never look for another mechanic. If you want professional work, done courteously and fast, GO HERE. Cant praise them enough. Now my car is running like new with no check engine light on and safe tires. He even thru in a free oil change.Do yourself a favor when it comes to auto repair. Look nowhere else, just take your car to Elmwood Certified. As reported in another review, they are in a Citgo station so it is easy to miss driving by.

I was in need to get an oil change and to get the causes of the "Check engine" light fixed before I took my car in for my NJ state inspection. Due to my previous unpleasant experiences with most auto mechanics that I've encountered, I procrastinated taking my car to a mechanic to properly diagnose and fix the "Check Engine" light for a year. Instead, I had the "Check Engine" light diagnosed by two different AutoZone locations a couple of times each. This is to make sure that the diagnostic of the problem is consistently with the same error codes and they were. After reading all the "Excellent" reviews for Elmwood Certified Auto Service on Angie's List, I decided to bring my car in to Dennis (the owner) and try out their service. I'm so glad that I did... I think I found my auto mechanic. :-) Dennis is very straight forward and explained everything that he and his team diagnosed on my car along with the steps of how they will fix the problems. He confirmed that the two components causing the error codes for the "Check Engine" light were indeed bad and not functioning as it should. He provided me with two possible solutions to resolve the problem with my "Check Engine" light and clearly explained why he preferred to try the less costly method first. He also provided me with the quote for the more expensive method, just in case I may have to go through with it later on, if the "Check Engine" light returns after driving for a couple of days. I am happy to say that the "Check Engine" light has not returned and that I passed my NJ state inspection. :-) He also found that my two front brakes were worn out which explained to me why the brake fluid reservoir was low -- I had several "Brake" light warnings several weeks before, which I made it go away by adding the brake fluid. Now, the brakes are properly fixed. All the above work were done in a little less than 5 hours while I waited in the waiting area. Overall, I'm very happy to have found Elmwood Certified Auto Service on Angie's list. Thank you Dennis and his team for getting my Camry into a much better shape than it has been for the past several years!!!

I took my car here because I'd had an intermittent leak after taking it to my regular mechanic for maintenance. I told Charlie about the leak, but nothing else. He said he would call me in about 20 minutes, and he did, and then asked if I'd had any recent work done since my oil filter was barely hand tightened. He asked a few other questions about when I had work performed and suggested a few things for safety and efficiency. I agreed and he said he would have the car ready at 3:00PM. I called him back a little later and asked him to please drive the car since there was something going on with the brakes. He called back and said I needed front brakes, told me how much it would cost and said and it could still be done by 3:00. I gave the okay and when I went to pick up the car at 3:00, Dennis (Charlie was on the road) was just closing the car door. It was right on time, the bill was itemized, the price was fair, everyone was very nice, the place was clean and as a female I didn't feel out of place in a "garage". Very happy I found them and highly recommend them.

Couldn't be happier! Dennis took my car in right away no waiting, looked over the car and fixed the rear end struts, in the meantime he ordered my tires and they arrived quickly. He put them on and fixed the squeak in the steering wheel. He didn't charge me for the squeak and I was thrilled. Dennis and his crew were polite, punctual and fair. I couldn't be any happier with his work and I am willing to drive ten miles past MANY other service stations just to have him work on my car.

I was quite pleased with the overall service. I was greeted by all the guys there and gave them an idea of what I believed was the problem which included repair of my breaks and rear rotors and a new tire. We went to the deli next door and had some coffee while they assesed my vehicle and the gentleman came in and gave me the estimate on the work needed. I was unable to complete all the work needed (needed another tire/alignment), but I had them fix the breaks/rotors and had one of the tires was replaced. Now I had gone to another mechanic previously and was quoted almost $700 for the work needed, so I know that I got my money's worth. My dad is an 80 year old mechanic and my brother works for a automobile dealership and he told me that the break work with rotators should cost about $350. Which was pretty much on the money. I recommend these guys highly and will be back for all maintenace necessary on my vehicle (my car is still under warranty from the manufacturer).

I was extremely happy with the serive performed on my 2003 honda CRV. Dennis (repair guy) explained exactly what was wrong with my car and was able quickly fix a failed starter. I would definitely recommend Elemwood Auto Services. I had my car towed from Paramus Honda after they quoted me a ridiculous price to replace my starter. I did not see the shop until i picked up my car. It is a small gas station / repair shop but don't be fooled. They performed excellent service and were very professional. The shop closes at 5 PM but they allowed me to pick up my car after hours on my way home from work. Thanks Dennis !!!

The service was good quality. I believe they did a good job and I was happy with their work overall. I believe that they were fair on price. They listened to me and were very professional. They seemed to really know what they were doing. They actually stopped to greet me and pay me individual attention.

It was $441.36 for the service. The gentleman we dealt with was Dennis and he was very good. As a matter of fact, I may be getting some work done on one of our cars and I may consider taking it there. The problem is that they are not anywhere where we normally go to and it’s a problem to drop our car off there. They are very reliable, honest and straightforward. I am very pleased with their service. I looked online for the cost of an alternator and what he charged for the parts seemed to be relatively close. So, I don’t think he increased it significantly. I would use their services again, but it’s just the matter of the proximity. If he was around the corner, then I would have used him for everything.

He was not able to fix my problem so he returned my money back. I was very happy to work with him!
