Wonderful, from start to finish! One of the most nerve wracking experiences for me is when I have to get my car repaired, and Tim made it very easy. Not only did he inspire confidence, but he called when he said he would, finished early, treated me with courtesy, and gave me a very reasonable price. Highly, highly recommend!

Dennis was the first person I met and the one that initially diagnosed my wife's car problems and gave me a free written estimate. I explained that our car was having a problem overheating and that on two recent occasions we had to get a jump start from a passerby due to the fact our car battery is losing power for some reason. I waited while my car was being checked out. Not only did Dennis quickly notice that the car had the wrong radiator cap on it and that there was a gross lack of anti-freeze in the radiator. (he quickly ordered a new radiator cap, had it delivered in about 15 minutes & put it on). He also refilled the radiator with anti-freeze. I left and came back later the same day to drop the car off to have them do the repairs. After all was said and done: Both Dennis and Tim worked on the car, installed a new radiator and water pump and a few other small parts and I had them change the oil and filter as well. Best of all, the total cost for parts and labor ended up being hundreds of dollars less than what one of the local Lexus dealership service departments wanted to charge for the exact same work! Our Lexus now runs GREAT again......no overheating and no problems starting the car. Oh, and our Lexus has about 198,500 original miles on it and still running strong thanks to honest mechanics like Dennis and Tim! Not only did Dennis and Tim save my wife and me a lot of money, they treated us with respect, and they explained in detail what they discovered in their diagnosis and explained in detail everything they did to the car to fix it properly. Wow! If anyone who reads this is searching for an honest automotive repair facility or might need one for the future...seriously, take my advice from personal experience with this place and bring your vehicles to Elmwood Certified Auto Service! If that wasn't enough, they even sent my wife and I a nice Thank You card...thanking us for our business and made sure we were satisfied with our experience. Thank You so much Dennis and Tim!

Your looking at a lot of work that was done. The vehicle, while reliable, needed the brakes and the front end work, both of which caused a bad wobble at certain highway speeds and when braking from highway speeds. The valve cover was a minor leak, as was the power steering, but once done, everything that needed to be repaired was repaired. Dennis worked with me, particularly on the labor. Since most of the work involved the front end, he was able to cut me a pretty generous break on the labor, instead of charging me as though each repair had occurred without the others taking place. He was also able to get me a eighty dollar rebate on the tires. He promised the work being done same day, and it was. The vehicle drives like a new car now. NO wobble, NO shimmy, smooth easy braking. Dennis did everything he promised, on time. If your looking for a fair, reliable mechanic, look no further. The prices are reasonable. I came here due to the Angies list recommendations and I am glad I did.

This was our first experience with Elmwood Certified Auto Services and I can now understand their top rating... they are fast, friendly and trustworthy and we had a great experience with them. We had a time sensitive issue with my son's car on a Friday afternoon (an old Jeep) that needed a fast solution before he left to go back to college after Spring Break, and every other garage we called said they couldn't do it because they didn't have the time. Elmwood said bring it right over and they made the repair within hours. I also had a safety issue with my own car (a Landrover) with the wheel hub and they were able to fix that as well the same day. It is no wonder Dennis and Tim have a cult following!

Took the car in the the very next day. Because the car has nearly 300K miles and I will soon be replacing, Dennis helped me save money by finding a replacement part locally for nearly the same price I would pay online.

I'm sorry to say this but you probably can't trust most auto mechanics. The industry is too opaque. As a consumer, you don't know how cars work and the repairs are occurring underneath the hood. You can never verify if what the mechanic is saying is true or not. I have an auto mechanic friend who tells me the unsavory practices that go on in his BMW dealership. He tells me that it's common practice to say that something is broken when it's not. And, they don't even have to replace the alleged broken item! The problem is will you ever go under the car and check? But, I can tell you that this - Dennis is honest and he will do everything possible to do it as cheaply as possible. This last time, my kid had kicked the window which broke a simple part which caused the entire window mechanism to fail. Unfortunately, the entire window had to be replaced. It was going to cost me hundreds of dollars from the dealership. Dennis ended up calling everywhere in order to find it cheaper elsewhere. He told me it was not right that a small part was going to cost me so much money. Dennis is just awesome. Dennis might seem a little gruff on the exterior but ignore that. He's really got a warm heart. He's honest and the stellar rating on Angie's List isn't some big fraud. Forget the dealership and go with Dennis. Not only does he do it right, he does it honestly.

A few months ago, I had a problem with my car. It sounded like the transmission. My wife and I checked your site and searched for an auto shop I can count on. Elmwood Certified Auto was the one I picked and I am very happy I did. I talked with the manager of the shop, Tim, on the phone before I went. He sounded very kind and professional. Later on I saw him and the owner, Dennis at the shop. I noticed they both are very professional and hold a high level of Integrity in what they do. You can feel from both of them-- straight talk/honesty. Also, I noticed they make a sincere effort to communicate and connect with you as customer. You are not just furniture or a flower vase in the corner. It makes you happy to see them do it with anybody. I wish there were more auto shops like theirs in many more places. Meanwhile, I will be going to theirs for a long time to come. Oh, about repair quality and repair cost: Tim gave me a simple, plain, straight report on my problem before starting his repair work, and did a good job. No more, no less. I have a BMW and while it is a great car, if there's a problem, I can't help but worry, as it repairs can get very expensive. It's also difficult to find a repair shop that works on european cars like BMW's or there are so many that you don't know which to choose from! Recently I had a problem with my car, and found Elmwood Certified Auto as being rated really highly on Angie's List. And although the station is not the closest repair shop to my house...in fact its about 9 miles away...I went ahead and took a chance and took my car there. WOW. They are the best..or at least that was the best experience I have ever had with an auto repair shop. They took the time to explain everything to me, and made sure I understood the repairs...the biggest shock...the reasonable repair bill!!! Under $200. If that wasn't enough I got a thank you card in the mail a week later from them. Elmwood Certified Auto Service = TOP Auto Service, TOP Auto Service for BMW's, TOP Customer Service and WORTH the drive. I highly recommend them!!!!

Everything went very well. Both Tim and Dennis are very professional, responsive and friendly. They had no issue installing the parts I supplied. I was quoted a price and they provided the service for that price. I wanted to replace the parts based on the age of the car rather than its mileage (which is only 29,000). My local Nissan dealer was hesitant based on the age of the car. Tim and Dennis told me they worked on older cars all the time. They did the work very promptly and fully road tested it afterwards. They held on to it until I was able to pick it up on the weekend. I would use them again (even though I live in NY). It was refreshing to find old time mechanics.

Fast and friendly and they didn't charge for the minor repair needed to stop the rattling noise. I was very happy with the service and plan to use them from now on.

Instead of trying to fix it he recommended that I go to the dealer where I bought the car. When I went to the dealer the cc was covered for free because the car has less than 150,000 miles! I would never have known this were it not for the honesty of this place. Would definitely visit this place again.

All went well. He gave be a great deal on rebuilding my engine rather than get another with higher miles on it. I have a warrantee on the engine and change the oil as scheduled!

I went to City World Ford auto repair center at Zerrega avenue in the Bronx, to repair a problem I have in my car, the abs and brake light kept flickering and my car will cut off. Those thieves charged me a little over 800.00 to solve the problem with my car. I figure being that my car was a ford Taurus they would be able to figure out the problem with my car. Being that I was a woman they took advantage of me and send me home with a car full of new parts, instead of them solving the problem they gave my car a tune up and this was January 2012. I had the problem with my car cutting off until August 2012 and I kept going back to Ford to solve the problem, I even showed them a video of what was going on with my car and they kept giving me the run around treatment because I was a woman, the mechanics couldn't even solve the problem, they kept diagnosing the problem with a stupid computer, not even the computer couldn't solve the problem with my car. To make a long story short. I went to Elmwood Certified AUTO Services and the mechanic, did a fabulous job, the mechanic found the problem in an instance, I was out of their in less than an hour. what took City World Ford almost 8 months to figure out, it took Elmwood Certified auto services less than an hour in fact 30 minutes I was shocked, the great thing was they did not take advantage of me being that I was a woman who has no clue about cars the were also very nice and pleasant. Today is August 9 2013 and never had problems with my car. I also took City World Ford Auto repair to small claims and won the case, not only a full refund, my car got a free tune up with new parts. What's good about Elmwood Auto service, they listen to the customer and they are very honest with you, that why I only trust them to work on my car. I will never take it to anyone else unless is Elmwood Certified Auto Services. The best, I mean the best mechanics. Thank you Elmwood Certified Auto Services. Thank you Angie list because if it wasn't for this site I would have found Elmwood Certified Auto.

They are fantastic. I think they have a very good rating by Angie's List. That's why I used them in the first place. They are highly rated by you guys. That's why I used them in the first place and they totally lived up to their reputation of being well certified by Angie's List. It was very, very good what they did. They are very personable, honest, that's the biggest deal in auto repair, honest, trustworthy, they live up to their word and that they go out of their way to be customer friendly.

This was one of the most plesant experiences that my wife and I had. We brought the car in and the garage called us in the amount of time that they said - explaining what the problem was. My wife has a certain model of car which the air conditon motor fails after a certain amount of time. The problem was fixed quickly(this happened during the 97 degree weather) and we was very happy. I would recommend them to everyone and any more car problems I would use them in minute. Great place.

Service was excellent. Dennis and Tim were professional, polite and knowledgeable about the issue. I had gone to other mechanics and went through issues where they would never diagnose the problem correctly and you kept having to go back. They diagnosed the issue and got me out in a very reasonable amount of time. Most of all they were honest, and the car is now running great. I will never use anyone else.

I called Tim yesterday and described my problem. He told me to come in anytime after 630 am. i showed up at 8am, went over my issue with Tim and waited. Tim came to me an hour or so later and told me what he had discovered. Unfortunately this issue was NOT one he could solve. But he was timely, efficient and refused to charge me for his time. i would definitely recommend Tim and his service to anyone looking for a reliable mechanic.

Asked me what I wanted to sell the car for and we agreed on a price. Elmwood bought the car and said they would fix it up and sell it. Said they always have people calling up looking for a car. They paid for the tow. Classy and efficient people. Solved a big problem for me as I live in MA and the car was in NJ so selling it would have been a trail.

I took the car in for routine oil change. It needed a cabin filter. The following week, the engine light was on; it needed a catalytic converter. I have only had good experiences with Elmwood; I have no doubt that they will do only what is needed.

Glen Toyota had tried to repair A/C 8 times in last 2 years. Very expensive, never repaired. Above business repaired, less cost than Toyota. Very professional, smooth repair service.

I use ELMWOOD CERTIFIED for a few years already, always had a good experience. Also they are close to my commuter train stop so I can leave my cars in the morning and pick up coming back from work. Owner Dennis is always very helpful and strait-forward. I always get a call to discuss prices / options before the actual work begins.

Overall it did not go well. They did replace my front and rear brake rotors and pads (or so they say - I'm doubting they replaced the rear rotors) but they overcharged and they kept providing me with overpriced estimates for work I did not need. Their goal is to take advantage. Fortunately I left just over paying for the brakes and did not let them do any additional work. My advice - beware!!
