I was very pleased with the whole operation - especially the honesty about the major problems.

The service was very good. The pricing was also good.

When I called to ask how much the 40K service for the car would cost, Dennis said that since I didn't know the car's service history (I had just purchased it used), he would have to see the car to know for sure. H did gave me a ballpark estimate which ended up being spot on. He said that anyone who could tell you an exact figure over the phone would be lying, which made sense to me. When I brought the car in, about 30 minutes later, he and his crew checked it and said that overall it had been well maintained. The car needed the regular oil and fluid changes and the tires rotated. Also the belt needed to be changed. It had been squealing. My brother-in-law, who works with cars, had warned us the belt might be a problem too. The work was done within the hour while I waited. Everything was explained to me clearly but not in a patronizing manner which I find is sometimes the case when mechanics explain things to a woman. The facility was neat and comfortable. All in all a great experience. I will definitely use them again and recommend them to friends.

This place rocks! Took the company van there (in the mid afternnon) to check on a possible alternator problem, thought we would leave the vehicle there overnight but Dennis started to analyze the problem immediately. He confirmed the alternator was in need of replacement, got us a price and said it would be done in an hour. While waiting for the part to be delivered, we got an oil change and had the tires rotated (our choice). All told, we were out of there in 55 minutes. Nice guy, very good crew.

When I brought my car into this auto shop I stayed to watch how they treated my car and I was very impressed. The mechanic explained everything he was doing and why he was doing it. He showed me everything piece by piece through the entire job and he answered all of my questions. It was very good.

Dennis was great - found the source of the heat problem right away, fixed that, the door and did the basic tune-up (plugs, fluid, belts) for under $200.00. The tires were more $$ than I wanted to spend, but that is because I have a Nissan Altima and they use very specific sized low-profile tires. Before he did the work, Dennis called another tire service and a few manufacturers to find out if there was a better priced tire around. I went with him and the tires he reccomended @$110.00 per tire. I could not have been happier with the treatment, his concern, his obvious love of cars and his honesty. I am so happy to say that I found a mechanic!!!

I have used them many times and they are great. I see Dennis here and he is a good person. They do a good job and I have seen them three times. They are very professional and everything is done right on the spot. I am in and out in about ten to fifteen minutes. Dennis has a good team. They are good and reasonable. I will continue to see them in the future.

We inherited a 98 Honda Passport from a relative -- a "free" car with 90,000-plus miles on it -- last summer. We expected it to need repairs, but after two big-ticket trips to the auto repair place near our home, I checked out this list and decided to get some quotes on a new A.C. compressor and a new axle. Dennis gave me a firm quote that was about half of what the neighborhood garage would have charged, and he explained each step thoroughly. We decided to postpone the compressor for a few months because of the expense, but I have no doubt that this aging car (which we only use for errands around town when our newer car is in use) is in good hands with Dennis and Sean. One other thing: I had asked Dennis to stay a bit later than his usual closing time because I was running late in picking up the car; when it became clear that I was going to be REALLY late, I called again to apologize and say I would pick it up the next morning. I felt bad for making him stay late for nothing, but he was understanding and didn't complain. Dennis is the best!

Based on the quality of work I think that the price is excellent. Being a certified ex-mechanic myself, I can say that I think he knows what he is doing and he is honest. I have recommended him to everyone I know.

Wow, what can I say? It was a pleasure for once, as a female, having my car serviced. Usually I sit there feeling like there's a neon sign flashing over my head which reads "I Am Woman, I Know Nothing About Cars, Feel Free to Cheat Me". I finally found an honest mechanic. Dennis was up front about everything from start to finish and did not push anything unnecessary on me. He claimed my tires were ready for the tire graveyard (my own interpretation) and even did not cajole me into purchasing new ones, though I did eventually get 2 of the necessary 4, and intend to replace the next two a few months down the road when I have the cash handy. I spent approximately one hour waiting for my car, which was also a surprise as when I have taken it to other mechanics, I am generally encouraged to leave the keys and come back later in the day, or the next day. While waiting, I chatted with the nicest station attendant on the face of the earth.

I first walked into the shop and found it to be well organized, clean and a professional staff. Met with the owner, left my car and he called the next day with a diagnosis of my car and the estimated repair cost. The car was fixed well within the estimated cost. Great people to deal with. They are professionals, trustworthy,keep you car clean and take good care of your car. I plan on returning to Elmwood Auto for all of my repairs.

Dennis and his team have an outstanding customer focused perspective. They are helpful, easy to speak with and informative as to your options. They were prompt, courteous and very neat. There was a very loud noise coming on from my air conditioner being turned on. I went to see Dennis from reading about him on Angie's List and he saw me right away on a Saturday with no appointment. He took out the glove box and pulled out a pen which fell in the back into the fan. Then I had an oil change done there. He put the car on the lift and walked me through the different parts and letting me know about my car in great detail. He was extremely helpful and very customer friendly. After it was all done he was extremely fair on the labor and cost. I was very happy with my experience here, and am appreciative to the time he gave me as someone coming right off the street. He's very knowledgeable in the industry and his shop is run very well and he takes pride in his work. I will only use his service from now on for my vehicle. I'm grateful for Angie's List for this excellent mechanic.

Went to a few other places - they told me I need to replace my transmission quoting me from $1500 to $1700. Dennis Hios, owner of Elmwood Certified Auto Service said "Let's fix it". He replaced one part, ran tests, called me and told me he needs to replace one more part== and my transmission is working great. Saved me a lot of money as well.

I've been to many different mechanics, Dennis and his team have the best service, team environment. When I first walked in there, I felt like I was family. I walked in and he told me what was wrong, and his estimated price was better then any other mechanic I know. He is proud of what he does and I highly recommend any person who has any problems with their car to bring it in to him. STOP! This is the last mechanic shop you'll ever need. Owner, Dennis, and his right hand mechanic, Sean, are not only great diagnosticians but they are also caring and thorough and explain CLEARLY the problems, options and costs BEFORE any work is done. I've been a client for over a year and never thought I'd be praising the skill and HONESTY of anyone connected to the auto(repair) industry. I'm happy to give them my highest endorsement.

I was greeted with a smile. The mechanic/owner explained exactly what the cost would be. There were no "hidden costs", as there are with other shops I have done business with. The work was done very quickly. Everything was as promised, and I drove away very satisfied.
