The service was outstanding. Being reasonably familiar and capable in the past with working on cars, I described the problem on the phone including the part that needed to be replaced (a bad AC / Heater blower motor) and its price quoted to me by a local parts store. Based on the phone call, I had asked if it could be done today since I was off from work and the response was to head over immediately and they could get it done. I confirmed I was coming over and arrived within about an hour of the call. They had already ordered the part and within 50 minutes it was done and I was on my way. The total cost I could not have done better anywhere... and the service and courtesy they demonstrated was outstanding!

I was considering buying a 2000 Acura RL with low mileage from my friend's mother and I made an appointment to have the car evaluated. Dennis explained the pros and cons of the car very clearly and he was very patient in answering my questions. I decided to purchase the car so I bought 4 new tires and also had the oil changed. I was very happy with the customer service and price provided by Dennis and his team.

Called on 4/20/11 and explained the problem. Made appointment for 7:00 am on 4/22/11. My truck was taken right in and work started immediately. I was given an accurate estimate for repair time. All work was explained and all my questions answered. Full account explained in services performed box.

Dennis and his crew are amazing. They explained everything to me as well as were very professional, punctual, and an overall pleasure to work with; not to mention my car glides on the road. I am glad that I found them, and will definitely be using them again.

How did it go overall? GREAT! My wife has a '95 Camry that her mother uses, and she has a '03 Maxima. Even out of warranty, she had servicing done at the dealers. Once we started dating (and married), I had to convince her to stop going to the dealers. She will get better service at an independent, top-rated auto pro with a great reputation. Well, she heard a noise in the Maxima's engine, and took it to the Nissan service dept. They said the auto needed a new engine. Ouch! Obviously an expensive proposition. Since the service experience with the Camry was great, I said to her "Let's take the Maxima to Dennis for his opinion". If a doctor tells you need a heart transplant, I would think you would want a second opinion. Well, lo and behold, the great news from Dennis was that a new or rebuilt engine was NOT needed. General service, etc. Saved a lot of $$$. Dennis and his Team are tops. Hmmm...shouldn't it be Dr. Dennis the Auto Physician? Now, my wife will ONLY go to Elmwood Certified Auto Service.

The circumstance finally arose to where I actually needed to get my car back in working order. Considering all the feedback I was getting from friends, family, and even some mechanics, they told me it was a lost cause and that it would be smarter/safer to just suck it up and buy a new car. I don't know if it was just selfish pride, given I already owned one, and it only had 42,000 miles on it, or if it was just the fact that I wanted to prove all the nay sayers wrong, whatever the reason, I decided to attempt to bring it back from the dead. The next step in my eyes, was the most impossible step in all of this. Finding a mechanic you can trust, one that won't leave your pockets empty, with nothing to show for it. Given the state my car was in, (literally inoperable) I knew all odds were against me coming out with anything positive from all of this. So I started here on Angie's List researching mechanics and reading all the reviews. It was then that I stumbled onto these guys. They had hands down the most reviews of anyone in the distance range that I was searching for (about 100reviews). They were all shockingly similar in the message being portrayed. That message being, Dennis and his crew are sincere genuine people that you can trust. They will shoot you straight, and do what they say they will. Not only that, they are affordable, and won't bleed you for everything you have. After seeing all of that, it was what seemed to be the best shot out there in this gamble. So I took it to them. Dennis and his staff turned out to be all that everyone else said, and then some! They went above and beyond anything I could have ever envisioned, given the disaster I gave them being my car. Dennis never beat around the bush, he told me what needed to happen, gave me the price, and never once threw in surprise repairs, or mysterious parts. He gave me a quote and stuck to it. Not only that, but my car literally runs as good as the day I parked it for good 5 years ago. When I drove it away, everything seemed fine. A couple weeks later, I noticed a gas leak. I called him up, and he told me to bring it in right away so he could check it out. As it turns out, it was a faulty gas pump. Dennis called me once he made the diagnosis, told me he was going to order another one, and replace it at no extra cost. Since then, the car has run like new, and I couldn't be happier. I grew up in a small town in NH where everyone knows everyone, and you expect that type of service because you personally know the people providing the service. I can honestly say, that Dennis and crew, well exceeded what I ever imagined possible, not only in the work that they did, but the service as a whole. I used to think the old phrase "It was a pleasure doing business with you" was a thing of the past. Well to Dennis and crew, it truly was a pleasure doing business with you guys, and I won't ever hesitate at recommending you to anyone I know, and hopefully this reaches out to some of you who wonder the same thing I did before I found Elmwood Auto. I had my car towed in and the mechanic called within an hour and told me what needed to be fixed. He also called when the work was finished. He was professional and courteous. The car runs fine and I'm really happy to finally find a mechanic I can trust and who is reasonable. I had taken the car to another mechanic in the past who didn't fix the problem because the car wouldn't start off and on. I even received a thank you card from the owner which was surprising! It is refreshing to find an owner who actually cares about customers. I took my other car for an oil change last week and it was done very quickly while I waited. I'll be taking my cars here in the future.

The srvice was thorough, fast and well priced, and all were courteous and respectful.

Called and explained problem. Denis knew exactly what I was talking about (and I'm not a mechanic). Was able to get my truck in on the same day and work was done within 24 hours. Price was fair and he provided me with an exact break down of the cost - even called me back to approve an extra $30. Happy that I found a auto mechanic that appears to be trust worthy.

I had brought in my Lexus and it was giving me all sorts of problems. I had already gone to R&S Strauss who had convinced me into getting sports tires which were terrible for my car. And, there were all these problems that they simply couldn't fix. But, Dennis really pulled through. I've only used him a few times but he seems like the real deal - a really honest and upright person. I'll use these guys again.

I told him i would leave the car the next day and rent a car. He suggested that I come at 7am and he would have me out by 9am saving me the cost of the rental car so I did. He had me out by 8:15 fixed and ready to go. What Dennis did not know is that I went to a Mechanic I have used for over 10 years and he said in addition to the hose I needed a compressor for a total bill of $1250! I didnt believe 2 parts failed at the same time so I checked here saw how well he was reviewed and tried him. Excellent customer service and repair. Use Dennis you won't be dissapointed!

They were professional, the owner is top notch and excellent. He's has great customer service and I'd say he's very straight forward about everything, he doesn't try to hide anything. He explains something and why something is that way. The price was very fair.

One of our tires went flat on Saturday. I caught Dennis at the shop even though they are closed on Saturday. He checked to see if the tire store next door had my tires in stock. They did so he told me to come right over. Afterwards my husband decided that since the tires had lasted 50K miles we should change the other ones at the same time so I went back on Tuesday to get both my tires and oil changed. Dennis and his team always provide great service at a great price in a timely manner. Both my husband and I have our cars serviced at Elmwood Auto and we have recommended him to other as well.

I was suspicious when I was told that my radiator had a leak; we'd already had a freeze by that date, and I hadn't noticed any leakage, but the mechanic was right! When I got home, I saw several spots on the driveway that were caused by leaking fluid. The care that the people at Elmwood took with my car was really impressive. As a matter of fact, I have a longstanding electrical problem with the car which I am going to trust them to repair this week.

Dennis is one of the most customer service oriented people I have ever worked with. I knew that I needed a list of things done on my Audi A4 going in. Dennis explained to me everything on the estimate in detail, and gave me options such as more expensive or less expensive tires, as well as explaining the benefits of having certain work done without pushing me to spend more. He and his team are very polite, responsive and the work was done the next day. I will continue to go out of my way to bring my car to Dennis.

Dennis and his service team were absolutely terrific. They fixed a water pump on my husband's car and did a great job. I took my second car over to him for an oil change. I certainly will be a lifetime customer. Great customer service!!! Thank you Angie and Dennis of course!

Found Dennis here on Angie's list and reached him by phone right away. My car had failed inspection for emissions and the Meineke guy wanted over $900 to replace the catalytic converter, clean the fuel injection system, and do a major tuneup. Needless to say, I wanted a second opinion! Dennis said to come on over, so I did and he got to work right away, researching the problem based on the numbers on the state's emissions report. Based on those, he knew that the problem was not the catalytic converter or dirty fuel injectors but probably a worn-out O2 sensor. At first he didn't even want to do more than that, and only did the tune-up work at my request since I had not had one done since buying the car a couple of years ago. To make a long story short, after the O2 sensor went in the engine was noticeably less shaky, and Dennis was confident the car would pass the emissions reinspection. It did. Happy customer, and savings of more than $600 over the first estimate I got. Plus, Dennis explained everything he was doing very clearly. It was obvious that he only wanted to do the work that was necessary to correct the problem, and that he loves his work. He even drew me a map to make sure I got where I had to go for the inspection. I will definitely use him again, even though it means driving a bit out of my area.

The check engine light came on in my wife's car, so we took it in to Dennis at Elmwood Certified Auto. He diagnosed the problem (including testing several individual parts) for free. The charges for the parts and labor of the work he suggested seemed fair. When my wife got in the car after it was done, she was pleasantly surprised to discover that, without charge, he had also fixed a minor dent in the driver's door that caused a loud screech every time it was opened. We brought the car in early on a Saturday morning, and it was done by early afternoon. Throughout, Dennis was friendly and professional. Even though it's a 25 minute drive from where we live, we'll be taking both of our cars to him from now on.

I went early to have them look at my car because I was still having problems after someone else had looked it over. They asked me to give them about a half hour to look the car over to find out what the problem was. Unfortunately it was not an insignificant problem, but they were honest about the work involved. I was pleasantly surprised that I was told to come back later that afternoon because I had prepared myself to leave the car overnight. They were done when they said and they final price was within 3 dollars of the estimate. Everyone in the shop waiting for their vehicles kept telling me I was in good hands. Like being welcomed into a secret "good mechanic" society. This is ow the only place I will have work done on my car.

I drove thirty miles south from New York, and, it was worth it. Dennis was very courteous, professional, and thorough. He explained what was happening and what needed to be done. He even told me he felt good that he found the problem. Dennis cleaned out the gunk that was causing my car to underperform. The car runs much better, thanks to the professionalism of Dennis and his crew. Kudos to a great service oriented car company. Highly recommended.

It was a pleasant experience overall. Dennis gave me a walk-through of my entire vehicle and pointed out things that needs to be taken cared of. No pressure at all, which I liked most. For the first time I could say that I found an auto mechanic I could trust. It may seem too good to be true, but it's true. He even didnt charge me for the main reason I went there, which is the rattling sound caused by the broken shield of the catalytic converter. He advised me to replace the rear breaks because it was a safety issue. I was impressed by the honesty and that he would not try to rush you out once the job is done. He encourages you to ask questions. I wish I had known them before.

I cannot say anything but good about them. I have been satisfied with their integrity and honesty. They are very knowledgeable and they have pleasant demeanors. They have always been able to find the problem quickly. The prices are much better than a dealer. They do offer coupons. I have been very pleased with their service. The last time I did a little bit of research before I went in and told them what I had found. They fixed it and didn't charge me.
