We were in a jam when our huge rennovation project came to an abrupt halt due to another contractor. After reading all of the reviews on Angie's List, we decided to call Gil from Goias Home Improvement. All the reviews were right - we were thrilled with the finished product. Gil, Marlon and their team were so easy to work with, their prices were very reasonable and their work was fantastic. Finally a contractor who does what he says he's going to do!!! :o) They showed up when he said they would, started on time, stayed on budget and, best of all, finished ahead of schedule. The experience was fantastic - especially given the challenges associated with rennovating a very old home. So glad we took a chance and called Gil - he is a very nice man and does an excellent job. We will definiitely be using him for additional projects!
Description of Work: Gil and his team installed almost 700 square feet of tile and electric radiant heat in our home.

I called Gil at Goias and he responded right away. He came and gave me an estimate. It was very fair and he was so polite and nice. He said he would be sending two guys and they did the work well and cleaned up after themselves, even going so far as to mop up the wood floors. I will definitely be using them for any jobs I can find in my home.
Description of Work: They came and put up drywall, spackled, sanded and painted my dining room ceiling after we had storm damage. Originally, we were just going to have them put it up but decided to add the extra work. They were very accommodating.

The overall job was very good. Some parts went fast and some were very slow. The estimated 4 week timeframe took 6 weeks. The longest time was waiting for cabinets and countertops to be delivered / installed.
Description of Work: The main focus was a remodel of the kitchen, with installation new cabinets, countertops, sink, appliances, floors, and backsplash. Some materials were included in price (countertops, sink, and cabinets). Appliance installation included dishwasher, oven, microwave, and refrigerator. Also new lighting fixtures was installed in hallway, dining room, and kitchen.

I had an AMAZING experience with Goias Home Improvement. Gil came to my home the day after I called for an estimate. He was polite and straightforward. He detailed all the work that would be done. His price was extremely reasonable, beating out all other competitors. His painters, Elton and Eddie did an immaculate job in my house. They had to repair part of my ceiling, paint all trim and a big window, paint a high ceiling, and the entire two-story foyer. As they worked, I even added some extra work to be done. they never complained. Gil came back for another estimate for the extra work. We agreed on the price and they finished up. The job was very clean and my house looks amazing. Thank you Goiasfor a job well done! I would definitely recommend these guys to anyone. I know they will be coming back for additional work at my house.
Description of Work: Painted two-story foyer, very high ceiling, all casings, trims, window. Included repair of two major seams in ceiling. Prep work.

Had Goias out for an estimate, they were very nice and punctual, but their estimate was almost double the other two that we got, so we went with another company. I would probably still give them another shot if I needed another project done, maybe this was just out of their comfort zone?
Description of Work: Have a nonstructural beam that needs to be replaced so we had them come out for an estimate. The beam is about 20 feet above the deck, which is about 15 feet off the ground, so it's by no means an easy job.

The work was good but they did not offer any warranty.
Very professional and courteous. The only reason I did not select Goias was price. I'm sure they would have been able to do an excellent job; my only concern was that their cost was the highest among four contractors, about 25-35% more than the second highest quote. Gil's crew was able to accommodate our tight time frame - they chose to start work on July 4th! They did a beautiful job prepping the surfaces - especially the bathroom with the faux finish to be removed. Their work was extremely neat and their demeanor was professional at all times.
Description of Work: Interior painting prior to move-in.
We chose Mr. Ricardo through recommendations from Angie's List. He promptly responded to our request for a quote and got started on the job, which was beautifully done and within the time frame I had hoped for. Gil answered our questions in a professional and courteous manner, kept us in the loop during the project, and did a great job. We look forward to working with him on several renovation projects currently being planned.
Description of Work: Mr. Ricardo and associates repaired and restored the walkway to my parents home. The job involved breaking up and removing the existing cracked stones and pouring concrete to create a new one.

This was a great experience because we never had work done so fast, so neat and so excellent. We are very, very pleased. Will use Gil again and again.

I called Gil to have them perform an analysis of what was causing the leak and an estimate of what it would cost to repair it. He responded quickly and performed the work very fast. He showed me what could be the reason for the leak and then suggested a few things that needed to be done correctly to ensure against future leaks. He gave me an estimate, did the work - showed me what was done - and stayed on target with the estimated cost. I waited to write this review because i wanted to make sure that I did not have any new leaks. Well - a few months and several big rains later - I am hapy to report that I have not seen any indications of leaks anywhere - and believe me - I am looking. I would definately recommend him to anyone and will use him in the future.
Description of Work: I had a new roof installed in April 2010. It started leaking in Dec 2011 whenever we had a heavy rain. I could not figure out where the leak was coming in from as it showed up on 2 inner walls - dripping down behind the paint.

Gil Ricardo, the owner came within a few days of us calling him and gave us a written detailed estimate as to what the job would cost. It was right in line with what the insurance company had appraised the repairs to cost. The two man work crew was punctual, polite and very good at their' job. Cleaned up every day and always let us know what time they would be coming the next day. Mr. Ricardo would check in periodically by phone or email to make sure we were satisfied and not having any problems. We were very happy with the finished product. We plan on using this contractor to work on my basement in the near future.
Description of Work: Removed water damaged cathedral ceiling and replaced it. Painted entire bathroom.
After Hurricaine Irene, we had water damage in part of our lower level. We immediately had mold, which was removed and remediated by a different company, but that company did not re-install the walls. We contacted GOIAS from Angie's List. They came out right away. The estimate was very acceptable and the time frame was great. The only issue I had was that we were told that they had samples of tile we could choose from, but that never happened. We went to Lowe's and bought our own tile and grout. It was fine. GOIAS replaced all of the missing drywall, replaced the frames in the area, replaced several interior doors, removed and replaced floor tiles and removed the carpeting, painted, and even removed extra drywall when more mold was found. The only other issue was that my parents live on the lower level, and we had wanted them to be able to stay when the floor tiling was being done. GOIAS said they could but it was really not an option so my parents went to a hotel. Part of the fault was ours, though, because I don't think we communicated exactly what they needed. That being said, the tile work was absolutely fantastic! And, because my parents left, their tile man was able to stay late and finish the layout in one night! Everything looks great. They were very clean, and were right on schedule and on budget. They didn't do carpeting, but that's OK, I guess you can't do everything!
Description of Work: Remove and replace drywall, frames, wooden doors, floor tiles, carpet (removal only). Interior painting. Install ceramic floor tile and saddles.

They did above and beyond what they told me they would do. My basement had quite a few things that they moved to paint the floor. They even offered to take apart some large things I wanted to get rid of that I couldn't move. I can't say enough about them. They were wonderful to work with. I have recommended them to several people. They worked very hard and were very accommodating. They were very professional and came on time. They cleaned everything up everyday they were there so you wouldn't even know they were there.
Description of Work: They did masonry work on my home. They replaced blocks in my basement, and evened out the basement floor. They moved everything to paint my basement floor.
We had been procrastinating about having a remodeling done when we were flooded by Hurricane Irene. Goias home improvements did all flood restoration as well as the remodeling that we had planned. The job was extensive and took about 2 months to complete. Gil came in and worked with us regarding what we wanted to do and how he could make those things happen. The job progressed smoothly and quickly. The people that did the work in our home were top notch, friendly and professional. Gil and his team did a fantastic job in our home. We would highly recommend Goias Home improvement and have used Gil's services again since the remodeling was done.
Description of Work: Extensive remodeling of our home. All permits and inspections. Electrical in 5 rooms including running new circuits, moving circuits, recessed lighting, moved ceiling fan, new gfci circuits and replaced all wall switches. Drywall work in 7 rooms including walls and ceilings. Painting in 7 rooms. Window and door trim in 6 rooms. 5 new interior doors were installed. Crown molding installed in Living and dining rooms. In the dining room, a small stairwell was removed and replaced with a floor, a wall was moved and reframed and a new hardwood floor was installed. In the bathroom, some sub-floor was replaced, a wall was moved 2 feet and re-framed, plumbing was replaced for bathtub and sink, ceramic tile was installed on the floor, walls and in the tub area, new wood cabinets and a mirror were installed, a new toilet and a tub with enclosure was installed. In the utility room, plumbing was moved for the laundry, a new closet was created and a tile floor was installed. In a bedroom, a door to another room was removed and re-framed, a wall was moved and re-framed and two new closet doors were installed. In the kitchen a large exposed ceiling beam was removed, the roof joists were doubled up, recessed and hanging lights were installed, wood cabinets and a granite counter top were installed, new appliances were installed, a tile floor was installed, tile back splash was installed, a new exterior door was installed and a wall was moved and re-framed. Miscellaneous items included power washing our home, painted porch decks and installed new vinyl railings on them, repaired foundation cracks, installed larger sump pump, pull down attic stairs were replaced and 2 storm doors were replaced.
Gil and his crew came to give us an estimate of the work we wanted done. He's responsive and easy to deal with. His prices were in line with other providers but we liked how straightforward he was. We had just bought a house and weren't going to be there to supervise the work. Upon finishing everything, there were a few things that we weren't totally satisfied with but when we pointed it out to Gil he fixed everything without charging us. We highly recommend his services.
Description of Work: new floors, exterior/interior painting, siding, new doors, closets and windows.
Besides that, which in my opnion is very small, it was a great experience. Gil is so nice, and really works with you throughout the process to get great results.
Description of Work: Gil and his team built a wonderful walk in closet for our bedroom.. Framing, Drywalling, Shelving, and Electrical were all done in a very timely fashion. They repainted our entire room beautifully. Gil was excellent to work with.. When he came to give us an estimate, he had a vision of what should be done. It really helped since this was the first time we did any sort of remodel. His team was very courteous, trustworthy and clean. I gave the slightest of knocks on quality, because in his estimate he said he would install support brackets to help hold up the 8 foot clothes rod. This did not happen and as a result the rod sort of sagged when clothes were put on it. When we asked for them to fix it, they were very prompt, but instead of support brackets which is what we wanted they installed a chain to hold the rod up. (not the most attractive solution) We will do it the way want it instead.

To begin, a representative came to my house and talked to me about the job in detail. He made suggestions and we agreed on a course of action. Within a few days, I had an estimate, and in another week, the work was begun. I purchased the tile, grout and saddle for the room. Three workers came on the appointed day, arriving early. They worked quickly and efficiently and had the job done in about four hours. They took care not to make a mess, even though cutting of wood and tile were going on outside, with the cut pieces being brought in over the course of the job. Once the work was completed, the crew cleaned up thoroughly and left an excellent new floor in place. Later that day, Gil called and scheduled a visit to inspect the work. He was completely professional and showed himself to be an honorable Christian man. I would definitely recommend him for this type of work.
Description of Work: Goias Home Improvement repaired a damaged hardwood floor in my bathroom then put down a new wood base and porcelain tile. The toilet was temporarily removed, the damaged flooring was taken up and removed, and new plywood was cut and put in place over the entire floor as a base for the porcelain tile. The tile was installed, grouted, and the area completely cleaned up when the job was completed. The toilet was put back in place, including a new seal.

These guys did a fantastic job. I had my first floor and staircase done in hardwood. I'm picky and don't like prefinished flooring as it has unattractive bevels on the boards and doesn't compare to the finish when the boards are sanded and finished as a whole. That's just how I like it done and it is a lot more work and some more money. Several potential vendors said they would quote what I wanted but then kept trying to push me to prefinished. They also tried to get me away from the 45 degree angles in the two main rooms or at least that was the feeling I had in a couple of cases. GOIAS priced it how I wanted, complete with the two rooms at opposing 45 degree angles.GOIAS did the work, came on time and paid attention to every detail. The stairs in particular were difficult and several neighbors who had hardwood done said the contractors told them stairs couldn't be done. I gotta be honest, some of my neighbors were pretty blown away by how good the work came out. They were the 2nd cheapest price and matched the cheapest to close the deal. There were slight over-runs on material but the 45 degree angles do cost a fair bit of material unless they start using lots of short pieces which is not my preference. I had no complaints with the overruns on cost and they were modest. All in all this took me a weekend to clear out the floor, remove the carpeting and about 250,000 small staples. That was fun. Not. I agreed to do that to help keep the cost down. It isn't a bad approach but is best done after the initial price sans pre-work has been established. Monday and Tuesday saw the floors laid and the stairs started. The stairs were done Wednesday. Sanding and staining were done Thursday. Friday and Saturday was the finish. I got to go home Sunday afternoon and put my life back together. However, my choice of floors finished on site added most of the time to the project. I have no regrets. On Monday they came and quickly replaced the spindles on the stairs. The owner Gil was fair, honest, accessible and flexible through the whole project. I tried to insert pictures but I just cannot get them in and need to get back to work. Entering them into the body of this doesn't seem to work.
Description of Work: They installed hardwood floors on my first floor and staircase. The installed unfinished red oak 3.5" wide 0.75" thick. My foyer and hallway were done straight and the dining room and living room were installed at opposing 45 degree angles at my direction. The staircase was the most complex part. This required removing the spindles from the banisters, cutting the existing stair tops to be flush with the sides and rises of the steps. Hardwood was laid on the stairs using special nosing (?) pieces for the outside and regular hardwood at the interior. Moldings were installed to cover where the old stairs had been cut and also around the support pole on the landing. The floors and stairs were then sanded, stained (min-wax cherry) and given two coats of polyurethane. Once the finish was done the spindles were replaced. They also removed my molding and replaced it with new and painted that to match with paint I provided. They removed subfloor under the tiles in my foyer which I had agreed to do but when push came to shove I couldn't get those boards up.
