Where do I start. In Feburary 2010, we had damage to our kitchen when the water line to our ice maker leaked overnight flooding our kitchen and pouring water into our basement. We got everything dryed out and contacted Paul Davis on the recommendation of our insurance company. They had a guy come out and look at the damage. He sent a quote to our insurance company and had a crew come in to rip out the damaged wood and ceilings in the basement. At this time we decided that since we had to replace the wood floor in the kitchen that we were going to have them put in wood floors throughout the rest of our first floor. We discussed this with the project manager and asked him to come over with floor samples that we could look at and to give us a quote for the whole project. This took several months, of calling him and having him cancel meetings. Once he finally did come it took over month before we even got a quote. I should have stoppped the project right there, but our insurance company had already issued them a check for the repair work and I didn't want to have to split the work between two contractors. It took six months before they even started to work on the repairs and putting in the new floors. The work on fixing the ceilings in the kitchen and our basements were done without a problem and looked good once they finally got started. The work on the flooring was a totally different story. The flooring did not get installed correctly and the PM was not around to monitor what his sub-contractors were doing. We had an OSHA and Labor violation when one of their sub-contractors brought his underage sons (15 & 12 years old) to the job and allowed them to use the circular saw. I put a stop to that and contacted the PM to let him know what was goiing on. The guy took his sons home and then came back after several hours. He got back around 3:00pm, and he was supposed to work until 6:00pm but told me at 4:00 that he had to leave because he had get home to his sons. I told him that it was not acceptable to have his sons on the job, and he proceeded to argue wth me saying, "how were they supposed to learn?" I told this to the head flooring sub-contractor when he came back and he told me that this was not acceptable that I would have been liable if anything had happened to the boys and that he had already spoken to this guy about bringing his sons to work sites. Supposedly, Paul Davis is no longer using this flooring sub-contractor. The wood flooring had to be ripped out twice because it was not installed properly. Eventually we went to another product and the work was finally completed a year after the project started. Some of this was due to time contraints on my side but much of this were due to unresponsiveness of the original PM, who was eventually fired by Paul Davis. The new PM, Hans, was very responsive. He returned calls and came when he pretty much said he would. The flooring was finally done, but then one of the guys move the refrigerator and scratch the wood floor. I just couldn't beleive it. The project went to a stand still for several months while the owner decided what he wanted to do. They finally came out the first of this year to fixed the damage that was done, by cutting out the damaged boards and replacing them. This is not what I wanted them to do because I had already been told by Hans that this was not the best solution to fix damaged boards but this was all the owner was willing to do and I was sick of dealing with this company. I still have a board that is not secure and squeeks when I step on it. I have to say that if Hans had his own company that I would hire him to do work for me. I found him to be very professional and knowledgable, but I think he works for a very disfunctional company. .
Description of Work: We hired Paul Davis Restoration when we had water damage to our home to replace flooring and ceilings. Since we were already replacing the flooring in our kitchen, we decided to have them put in hardwood floors throughout the first floor
