We couldn't be more pleased! He did a FANTASTIC job! He was quick and the price was extremely reasonable! We would definitely have him do work again and highly recommend him to do other work. He actually charged us less than his original quote. It was a real blessing!

Everything went fine. I covered the furniture with drop cloth and moved furniture out of the way for quick in and out repairs. Drywall repairs are usually quick but require several trips to complete. Afterward the walls were a little dusty. I wiped them down and primed the patches. Then painted the room the next day.

It went great. After they finished you could not tell that there had been any damage to the walls or ceiling.

I hired Quikpatch to repair the walls and re-texture the ceiling in a 15'x30' room with vaulted ceiling. The job included a 6'x7' closet and 7'x7' half-bath that needed new drywall. The main room had existing drywall that had been damaged (dents, dings, some holes where outlets had been moved) through neglect by the previous homeowners'.
Out of five bids Quikpatch's bid was above the middle of the price range. I worked primarily with Dan who stated he expected to be done in the three days before Thanksgiving. He conducted a visual inspection of the room prior to giving this estimate so there should have been no surprises.
The two days consisted of another employee sanding the existing texture off the ceiling. He arrived in the morning at 8:30 as scheduled. Wednesday they started mudding the ceiling. Friday I was out running errands and received a phone call around 1pm that they were outside my house waiting to continue working. This was unannounced and as work progressed it became increasingly clear communication would not be proactive. We returned to let them in the house and they worked for about an hour before leaving. This was inconvenient and unappreciated, though I did want the work finished as quickly as possible.
On Monday there was no sign of anyone from Quikpatch. That afternoon I called Dan and he said they had someone call in sick and they could get back to me on Friday - Dec 5. He again estimated that they were "almost done" and it should only be one more day of work, that being Friday. I knew this to be inaccurate because it would take at least one more day's work to finish mudding and sanding a different day afterwards. I told Dan there was more work to finish but he was confident they'd finish.
The delay during this week was probably for the best because of the considerable humidity added to this room with all the drywall and textured ceiling. There was a space heater in the room to aid drying, but unfortunately this may have compounded the problem. Even with a window open the condensation was so great that the joints in the ceiling swelled and became immediately visible. By Friday they had shrunk and are now only seen with a lamp pointed at the ceiling.
On Friday Dan arrived and started work on the walls for a full day. Monday Dec 8 was also a full work day. On Dec 9 Dan said the work was finished, my wife looked at the room and saw it was not completed as we had wanted, but Dan told her there was not really more he could do. Dan was paid on Tuesday but I did not have the time to closely inspect the room until late Wednesday night.
When I inspected the finished work I found numerous nails, staples, tacks, and even tape that had been left on the walls. Countless small push-pin holes were missed and some areas on the walls were worse than before work began. In one area it looks as though a ladder left a small but noticeable dent in some new wall at about knee height. Some joints between existing drywall sheets were not properly finished and cracked, visibly noticeable.
I was greatly disappointed at the lack of care and concern about the job in general, but incomplete work was unacceptable. I called Dan on Friday 12/12 and stated that I was dissatisfied with the incomplete work. He replied that he bid only to "touch up" the walls and these words are on the contract we signed. He countered stating to skim coat the walls would be another $2,200. I ignored this offer having already received competing bids for the entire room for less than Quikpatch's original bid. I further expressed my dissatisfaction with the work done on the ceiling. He offered to come look at the room on Monday 12/15. He did not show up and he did not call.
Several other points worth mentioning before my conclusion include:
- Overall Cleanliness: They lay down plastic sheeting to aid in cleaning up the dust when finished. Outside they left cigarette butts around the house and one on my deck near my children's toys.
- Communication: all communication was reactive. Dan answered his phone every time I called but was never proactive about arrival times, running behind schedule on the job, or following up once finished.
- Overall Quality: The new drywall work was done well enough compared to other contractors I've hired. The repair work - that which was completed - was inconsistent. In one area of any given wall the results are good, in another area of the same wall are patches of un-sanded mud, leaving a rough, unfinished surface. Also as mentioned above, staples, nails, and tacks littered one wall. It appears the was no effort put forth whatsoever to rectify these issues.
In conclusion, my opinion is that if Dan and crew had focused their entire energy on repairing the ceiling this job would have been worth about $1,000 to me. The mediocre efforts expended on the walls were entirely worthless as I have had to repair the walls myself in addition to the new damage they left behind. The work done on the new drywall was done well enough - no complaints here. It strikes me as somewhat ironic that a company specializing in patch work did better with new drywall than repairs. In reviewing my notes I can find no reason to recommend Quikpatch and would not use them again. I hired them to take some work off my plate - turns out they took the money off my plate and left the work.

They came to look at it and determined it looked worse than it really was and only a small area had to be replaced rather than the entire area I had expected. Jordan came and completed the project quickly and even sealed the rest of the wall for us that was damaged so it would be ready to paint. It only took two days from estimate to have someone come out.
