About us
Three generations of the Lassiter family have been instrumental in the growth of City Transfer and Storage since its beginnings in 1908. Our grandfather, I.M. Lassiter, started City Transfer and Storage that year with a team of mules and horses, a wagon, and his vision for a company that could haul just about anything – as long as it fit in the wagon. We are the Carolinas’ largest, most diversified moving and storage company, and we’re also the oldest continually operated family-owned transportation and logistics company in the state of NC. "We regret that Ms. [Member Name Removed]had issues with her moving experience. It appears her issue is not with City Transfer, but with the unaffiliated companies she hired to custom crate her mirror and granite top, and to deliver her items from mini storage at a later date. City Transfer did not hire, perform, or recommend the crating company she used. City Transfer did not hire, perform, or recommend the delivery company she used. At her request, we took all of her shipment to a mini storage unit. That was the end of our involvement with the shipment. Obviously, we cannot take responsibility for another company's work, and we cannot take later responsibility for items out of our chain of custody for months. We believe that the service we provided for Ms. [Member Name Removed]was of outstanding quality, and in fact, was performed by a nationally award-winning crew. Again, we deeply regret that our customer expressed dissatisfaction, but none of the issues resulted from City Transfer's services."
"We have searched our records, and do not have this name as being a customer of ours. The descriptions of employees used by this reviewer do not match any of our workers. We believe she has City Transfer confused with some other company."
Michigan to move our household to Winston-Salem. He was always available
to answer questions, explained the process and terms, and stayed in
contact throughout the move. The crew, Chris, Jim and Zack, did a
fantastic job packing our household into the van, offering suggestions
for the best way to pack various items. They arrived as scheduled (early
actually) and did a great job placing our items in our new place. I
highly recommend all the companies and personnel involved!
The moving crew, Anthony and Kory arrived at the agreed upon time. All furniture items were carefully wrapped in quilts and securely taped prior to removal. These guys are obviously professional and knew exactly how to move my belongings in the safest and most efficient manner. They were also polite and courteous. On 12/08 a crew of three, Mike, Kory and Josh arrived promptly at 8:30 am. I couldn't be more pleased with their professionalism, manners and courtesy. Cardboard was placed and taped on the floors of the entry and hall. They efficiently reassembled the bed frame and tables. I had purchased a large living room rug and brought it and another large rug that I had gotten cleaned home the night before their arrival. They cheerfully placed and arranged both rugs. Furniture was carefully replaced as I asked. Cardboard was cut to size and taped, at their own initiative, to the feet of the dining table to protect the new floors. Their care ensured that not a scratch was put on the floors.
I never want to go through the process of having my floors redone again. However, these professionals greatly reduced my stress level by providing excellent service at what I consider a reasonable price.
"City Transfer has a strict company policy that our crews are not allowed to disconnect or reconnect appliances with water connections. This includes washing machines and ice makers. The customer has the option to service the appliances themselves, or City Transfer will arrange for the service through a third-party contractor, at an additional cost. This customer agreed to service their own appliances to save expense, and did not pay for the service. At delivery, the husband did not meet the crew due to a conflict. The wife insisted the crew hook up her washer and dryer. The crew resisted repeatedly, but eventually did connect the washer and dryer to satisfy the customer's demands. Supposedly, the husband later reconnected the appliances, and then there was a problem with hoses leaking. We spoke directly with husband, and explained that our insurance carrier would likely deny the claim, because customer accepted personal responsibility for appliance hookup on the contract for service. The customer did accept responsibility, and no claim was filed with our insurance carrier."
