It’s been about a week and radon remains super low after remediation. Our house setup was simple so no complications, for a straightforward install, the crew did a great job.

Two days later Randy picked up the unit and immediately gave us the results.  Fortunately we don't have a radon problem, so no remediation was needed.

He was totally excellent.  I called many times from California because I was so apprehensive about this project and he was very patient.

Very good. He cut a small hole in the floor in a far corner of the basement with a fitting to provide negative pressure to the soil surrounding it. He used pvc pipe to connect this to a radon fan which he installed on the outside of the house about knee high. He connected a stack pipe to the fan to vent the radon laden air to the eave. He worked quickly and efficiently, it was obvious that he knew exactly what to do and how to do it. Everything is neat and clean and we are very happy.

Randy did a good job on install. He has all the right tools, know how to use them. Was careful to not damage house.
I have a radon meter, it was reading consistent 8.0, after mitigation system installed, reading was .8, a decrease of a factor of 10 and well below the 4 recommended by the EPA. Randy did two day test with his much more expensive meter and reading was .4 so I am happy that problem was solved.
The only issue Randy needs to work on is his paper work. I asked for a written contract. He supplied a boiler plate description of what might be done, but the price was not included with this. He said they do not include price in same paper work in his business.
I find this hard to believe. I never did get an actual written on paper price. But he did do the work for the price he quoted orally.
I really do not trust this way of doing business.
He also needed to be bugged to send the written receipt he promised. The receipt and the results of the test with his meter were sent and were professional, he just needs to be bugged..
All in all I would use him again. .

In selling our residence, the buyer contracted and paid for a radon
test. The test came in very high levels in our basement. I called
three firms.
I did research and found that there are only four
radon testing/remediation individuals in the Triangle area who have
national accreditation. One of the individuals I contacted was Randy
Paquette of First Choice Rand R, one of the four individuals with the
accreditation. Randy came out the next morning and quickly noted that
the initial test was probably flawed by excessive rain, which affects
the radon level. He conducted a second test and found that the radon
level was about 50% of the initial test. He explained the testing and
showed me the readings from the monitor.
Even so, the test results were still above acceptable levels. He provided excellent
remediation service for $1,250, which was less than the quote of $1,400
for the buyer's firm. Randy's price includes both the initial test and a
follow-up test (after installation of the remediation). Further, he
provides full written report and a five-year warranty transferable (at no cost) to the new
owner.
The other two firms (not certified) contacted me three days after I called and 7 days after I called.
I highly recommend Mr. Paquette for his professionalism and responsiveness.

My neighbor had a noisy radon system that was really bothering me. I looked up Randy on Angie's list, and contacted him to see if he could come out and check the system. Through my e-mail description, Randy explained what was wrong and how it could be fixed. A day or two after I agreed to go forward with his fix, Randy called me and let me know that he had replaced the pump and was done the work (no interior work was necessary). Now I can't even hear the pump from my property line- I have to get within a few feet to hear that it is in operation.

Randy was knowledgeable, friendly, helpful, and fast. I don't recall the exact dates, but first contact to e-mail invoice must have taken only a few days. If you want the job done right and quickly, I highly recommend Randy and First Choice R and R.

Randy came out to the house to measure levels of radon since the buyer's inspection detected radon levels above the maximum allowed. He came back a few days later and determed that the levels were indeed over 4. He gave use a quote of $1350 and once we accepted the quote he installed the fan the next day. He determined where it would blend well with the home and it is hardly noticeable.

We also asked him to dig a French drain in order to divert water away from the foundation where we were having structural issues. He gave a rough guess of the price over the phone because we hadn't asked him to look at that issue while he was there. He started that work the same day he installed the fan and his rough guess was within $20 of the actual cost. And his price was incredibly reasonable.

He was very responsive to my phone calls and all of my detailed questions and I would happily hire him again!

Contacted Randy at Rand R and set up a time to test for radon in newly constructed home. To obtain an accurate reading, we worked with the builder to have no activity to the home 24 hours prior to testing. Once the monitor was set up, it recorded the radon level for more than 48 hours. We received a report the day following the monitoring. We were pleased with this service and would recommend this service provider.

A severe mold problem was found in the crawl space under our 30-year-old house. Randy Paquette, owner of First Choice Rand R, did an excellent and thorough job of killing the mold, installing a new heavy-duty vapor barrier and and putting in a dehumidifier. Randy also found a gutter breach which contributed to the moisture under the house (we got the gutter folks out to repair it) and noted where our heating and air ducts were not connected (we got a new HVAC team out to replace the ducts). Our house no longer smells of mold. Moisture is gone from under our house. All this was done thanks to Randy's tireless work.
