Description of Work: This was an Angie's List special. I paid $65 for plumbing services. I needed a diverter replaced in my shower. Triangle Home Service came when scheduled, replaced the diverter for additional cost of $25 for the part, shook my hand and left with a smile. This is the handshake and friendly service I miss so much. No one tried to up sell me services I didn't need. I would use them again.

Description of Work: The work itself was great. No complaints. I needed a roof leak repaired. The team that came out was punctual and quick to find the problem and the resolution. The job I needed done was a bit bigger than the deal priced on Angie's list. No problem. We came to terms on this. The work was performed well. And seems to have done the trick. The aftercare response was terrible. Triangle Home Care had contracted the job out to a subcontractor and I tried 5 times to get him to come out and clean up the work site and deliver to me the full receipt of services done for my records. Called the subcontractor one last time and his phone had been turned off. Never got the receipt and I called the town for a bulk trash pick up myself this week. Again great job, get repair, reasonable price. Poor finish. Still, based on the price I may at least consider this team the next time I am price comparing roof work. At least I know I can get the clean-up done myself.

Description of Work: NOTE: ABOVE DATE IS DATE OF LAST CONTACT. Provider scheduled first service date on 7-16-14 (29 days after contract date) and then there was a mix-up on that date (Provider and I had 2 different dates and there was no date-confirmation call made). In the interim my wife had a medical emergency after which the provider told me to let him know when we could have it done. Beginning with an e-mail on 7-28-14, I sent at least 4 e-mails asking for a service date. No telephone, no written or e-mail responses were rec'd from 7-28-14 until 9-27-14 when provider (via e-mail) recommended that I ask for a refund from you. I am in complete agreement. Provider's office mgr claimed on 9-27-14 to call us but, since my wife's hospitalization, we stay home all the time and have rec'd no calls or messages on voice mail or answer phone or on caller ID. Out of the many times I have used Angie's List, this is the first time I have requested a refund. So please issue me a refund instead of a credit. Thanks. John Booker

Description of Work: I bought the wood-rot repair Big Deal with Triangle Home Care for $149 because the 1972-era house that we recently bought has several areas of wood rot that need addressing--the most pressing being at the base of the columns on our front porch. I naively thought that the company was actually interested in repairing wood rot, instead of primarily in up-selling, but I guess that's the game. (I'm not totally, naive, though, and did expect them to be interested in soliciting further work, which we have in spades for the right contractor and would likely have given to them if they had done a good job.) | |I did not deal with the owner, Greg Starkes, while he was here--my husband handled it--and he said that Greg immediately started telling him that the squared columns and overhang needed to be replaced instead of repaired. When my husband declined (it was not something we were ready to do without a master plan for such a project) and asked him to simply fix the columns, he said Greg did back off the upselling and went to work. They cut out the rotted spots and purchased wood to patch the holes. The problem is that the work they did was embarrassingly sloppy. Had I been present when the work was done, I would not have let them leave without fixing it or at least trying to get them to. | |I did not closely inspect the work myself (live and learn) until we had a painter come a week or so later to do various painting jobs around the house, including painting the columns. It looks like a 10-year-old did the patching, with the patches poorly fitted and some jutting out from the line of the column and some sunk in below the line of the column. So I called off the painting of the columns and called Triangle Home Repair immediately to ask that he fix them. I had to leave a message but got a response a few hours later. | |When I talked to Greg, he told me that the columns are completely hollow so there was nothing to attach the new patches to. I am not a carpenter or engineer, but even I would have thought to glue a longer piece of wood inside each affected face of the columns as a base for stabilizing the new patches and making them even with the line of of the column as a whole. Anyway, even after reviewing the photos I emailed him of the job, he said he stood by his work and assured me that he felt he had "performed a miracle" with our columns and that the whole exercise was "polishing a turd" because it was all in need of tearing down and replacing. When I told him I didn't think that the few poorly applied patches amounted to $149 in value for us, he proceeded to explain that out of that $149, he had to pay Angie's List $50 and that the diesel to run his truck cost some exhorbitant amount so that he was basically losing money when he did the Big Deals (without, I'm assuming, achieving a successful up-sell). I don't see that as the customer's problem--except that it resulted in a sub-standard result, and that IS a problem. So the bottom line is that he wouldn't fix it and we are going to need to spend more money to make the columns look reasonably good until such time as we are ready to re-do the whole front area of our house. | |I will not be purchasing another Big Deal anytime soon.
