We were impressed! We purchased the Angie's List deal for $149 for wood rot repair, knowing we had an issue, and hoping to find out how much it would cost, additionally, to have it repaired. Greg came out right on time, and went right to it. We discovered that the damage wasn't as bad as we feared, and he and an assistant offered to pick up the added materials to get it repaired. They managed to get the needed supplies and get things done, even returning at a later date to do some finishing work. Greg even provided a demonstration of the work he was doing, and offered to show me and let me give it a try if I wanted to! We were quite grateful, and the added costs were more than reasonable. We would certainly hire Triangle Home Care again!
Description of Work: Purchased an Angie's List deal of $149 for 4 hrs of wood rot repair. We needed some additional help and paid extra. They came, evaluated and worked on some water damage we near our back door.

Greg removed old, moldy caulk from a bathtub, applied the new caulk, and cleaned everything up. He also inspected two other showers, told me about a plumbing problem with one and gave me good, thoughtful advice on how to deal with crumbling grout on the other, which we weren't quite ready to remodel yet. He told me we could hold off remodeling by applying clear silicone gel liberally to the cracked seams. He would have done it himself, but it was still wet from my husband's most recent shower, and Greg stressed that it was extremely important for the shower to be completely dry. This was an Angie's List "Big Deal," and an excellent value for the money.
Description of Work: Removed previous bathtub caulk, applied new caulk, looked at plumbing in another bathroom and made recommendations, gave detailed instructions for applying silicone to cracked grout.

I bought a Big Deal offer for two hours of caulking and grout restoration. The man who arrived was on time and very nice, but the work was extremely disappointing. Although the offer was for two hours of labor (I bought the materials as instructed by the woman who scheduled the appointment, even though he didn't use two of the three items she told me to buy), he stayed less than thirty minutes, most of which he spent talking about his business, experience, and trying to up sell me for a major bathroom renovation, even though my house is only about ten years old and well-maintained. I wanted him to focus on the shower stall in the master bath. He ripped out the old caulk along the floor of the stall and quickly laid down a new bead of white caulk. (The old caulk was clear.) He also ran a line of white caulk along the sides of the counter tops in three bathrooms and the kitchen, a total of about 40 linear feet in all. That's all he did. (The lines were bumpy, uneven, and didn't stop flush with the edges, leaving gaps.) He said that doing any work on the grout between the tiles in the shower floor would cost hundreds of dollars. I am certain that he told me that I should expect to spend $500 every year on basic maintenance of that one, small shower stall. He looked around my bathroom and quoted a $5000, $10,000, and $25,000 list of proposed renovations and replacements. For $79, instead of two hours, I got thirty minutes. Instead of caulking and grout restoration, I got a few lines of caulk (that I bought.) He mentioned more than once what a great deal this was for me because that amount wouldn't usually get him out of the van. He was a really nice guy, so I have debated writing this review, starting the day he left. He seems to have plenty of satisfied clients on his web site. But my one experience was so bad that I doubt I ever purchase another Big Deal from Angie's List.

I purchased a deal through Angie's List for wood rot services. I purchased a 4 hour block. Greg was scheduled for Tuesday morning at 7:00. He arrived several minutes early and was ready to work. I did not have a full grasp of the work I wanted done but I knew I had wood rot on my front porch. The wood rot was not as bad as anticipated so I asked if we could do a lot of work to the front porch. Greg took the time to discuss options and we came up with a plan. Greg did a great job getting me started on the project. He was able to complete all the parts of the project that I did not feel comfortable doing during the 4 hour job. I was very satisfied with the quality and quantity of work completed on my project.

I was not asked ANY questions EXCEPT what special I was looking for. When I told her it was not for the bathroom remodel - she immediately told me that "they wouldn't come to Zebulon for such a small job -esp with gas prices". She was so quick to negatively respond that I didn't get a chance to let her know that I also wanted window replacements done along with the wood rot repair. When I hung up I told her "I too am sorry, because you just lost a potentially good customer." Before the end of this fall we are replacing 16 windows and repairing any rotten wood around the frames.Within the 6 months to a year we are looking to build a 24x30 wired workshop for my husband, drop our deck and have a patio installed.Within the next 3 years we have a large remodel planned. Moral of the story - get the WHOLE story before you are too quick to respond and lose a potential customer over what you ASSUMED was going to be a small job.

I did ask which deal they were calling in reference to, as well as where they were located. I also informed the customer that due to gas prices we would have to charge a small estimate fee which would be applied to the total amount of the job if they signed a contract due to them being outside our immediate service area. This customer was not pleased with this response and very hastily replied that we had lost a potential customer and hung up on me without providing any additional information. It is not our intentions to turn any customer away no matter how big or small the job.

Greg was great from start to finish. He cleared away old caulk and grout from our kitchen sink and shower area. He then re-caulked those two areas with caulk I had purchased. He gave me advice on how to clean and maintain these areas, as well as showed me how to "do it myself" for other caulk repairs in the future.

I was a complete novice. Greg went over the project with me and provided a listing of all the materials I would need. When he was done I had a complete shopping list of what was needed. Greg and Shawn are real gentlemen. I never had an concerns over having them in my home. They were intelligent, considerate craftsmen! Their word is their bond. They are good at Tiling - which is both art and science. Greg explained what he was doing and why. They work very hard. Greg and Shawn made the remodel a good experience. They cleaned up after themselves. They calmly handled all problems. I will recommend their honesty, professionalism and craftsmanship to anyone.

Gregg had to frame in the area and then match in existing brick, banding at the bottom of the siding and replace several rows of siding in the area. It was an extremely hot day and they worked diligently at the repairs. They were held up slightly by the delivery of the materials. Not their fault. Originally we had scheduled a date further out from the day they work was completed. Greg called to say he had an earlier opening and would be able to finish the work sooner. It was up to me if I wanted to move up the time line. Greg had slipped me in on a Saturday which I had not thought would be possible when I ordered the supplies. Overall they did a great job, were pleasant to work with and were good about cleaning up after themselves. I had to pay a bit more that the Angie's deal ( $300) b/c of the extra time involved. My husband was especially pleased with the results.
Description of Work: We had a large HVAC package unit removed and a new split system put in for the first floor of our home. This left a 4' x 5' hole in the side of the house where the unit used to be linked in to the system. We also had some damaged areas of Masonite siding that needed replacing with hardiplank.

I was afraid anyone I'd call would try to sell me a new gas hot water heater and not look at a cheaper fix like the thermocoupler. The guy Triangle Home Care sent fixed the immediate problem, and described how to light the pilot again if it goes out (since the ignition had gone bad). He did say that a nine-year-old water heater might not have more than another year or two in it, but he said it looked okay for now except for the ignition switch. He also described what to look for on the water tank that would indicate a problem, such as a leak. I really appreciated Greg sending someone over so quickly, and I'm extremely grateful for the helpful service the tech provided.

The first day they were supposed to show up they said they were sending their best guy, but he didn't show up at all. My wife waited and never heard from them. We called them to ask what happened and they said they would send someone else. They were originally supposed to come on the Sunday that fell on Mother's day so that was also changed last minute. They were not familiar with the type of toilet we had but assured us that he could figure it out. He ended up snapping a pipe causing water to flood into the bathroom and down into the garage. Luckily my wife knew where the shut off valve was so she was able to turn it off quickly. This was about an hour into the project. They spent 6 hours at our home, only 1 hour of which was actually spent doing the work we asked them to come by for to begin with. They said they needed to come back and paint the bathroom, but never showed up for the appointment. My wife waited again and called to see where they were. I had noticed that there was water in a light fixture in our garage. They took that out and tried to remove all of the water in the ceiling and then painted the walls the incorrect color. He left, but we assumed that he was coming back to finish the work but ended up never returning. We called them to see if they were planning to come back to finish. We received an email stating that the business was closed.
Description of Work: I hired Triangle Home Care-Greg Starkes to replace the innards of 2 toilets, calking the bathroom, pressure wash the driveway, replace hardware and a number of other things at our home after purchasing a Big Deal from Angie's List.

always go the extra mile for our customers at triangle home care. This customer was not going to be satisfied by any company. She had sub par plumbing in the house that broke when touched. So we hired a plumber at our expense to fix these problems so we can complete our handyman work outside of all the problems that this job had we completed her work and so much more. As far posting response we don't like to but in this case we just could not have this customer saying these statements with out rebuttal, we completed her scope of work and corrected problems that were hidded issues while there . Not all business relationships work out, good luck with that house, for we will never do any work or recommend any contractor doing work on this house.

All he did was put the grout in certain areas of the floor. He did not just take the grout and put it over the whole surface and then remove the excess. I had to remove the haze myself. He was only here for one hour and when I went to Home Depot to see how to correctly grout I realized the job was not done correctly. I really was not happy with the job that he did.

I think they did an excellent job. They were on time, and did way more than I thought they were going to be able to. They were very professional, courteous, and even conscience about how they treated my home. They were easy to communicate with, and took the time to thoroughly explain what they were going to do with my home.
Description of Work: They came out for 2 days, and did everything from drywall to plaster repair. This was a Big Deal I purchased with Angie's List. They also did bathroom tile, caulking and grout. The made an adjustment for doors on a bookcase I have. They strengthened the banner on my staircase, and even replaced some spindles. They repaired some things on my front porch. I also had them haul away some old appliances.

He came right out. He let me know when he would be there. I was very pleased with this service. He was very professional. It was a big job, and he did it alone.
Description of Work: He transferred a new washer and dryer after taking the old ones out.
Shawn called me the first morning of the assignment to tell me that he was going to be late. I appreciated the call and was fortunate enough to not have it matter what time he started, as long as I was able to get the hours of work for which I paid. When Shawn arrived, we went over the list of projects that I had assembled - going through each one individually. As we did that, Shawn would tell me what materials were required and made a running list. After going through the entire projects plan, he set off to purchase supplies. He did so with his own money and I repaid him at the end of the day. This continued for 3 days, sometimes just Shawn alone and other times with a helper. Shawn was polite, informative, and very skilled at what he did. Sometimes a project would require out-of-the-box thinking in order to accomplish it and he is a whiz at that. All jobs were completed within the time frame and done excellently. I will definitely use Triangle Home Care again and already have another list started!
Description of Work: I had a coupon for $299 for 8 hours of handyman services and purchased 3 of them, totaling $897 for 24 hours of services. The jobs I had done were replacement of a screen door, free form installation of a doggie door into said screen door, replacement of rotting deck railing, replacing 3 panels of screening in a screened porch, shoring up a perimeter privacy fence so that the double gate wouldn't keep breaking, reattachment of a railing that had come free from a wall inside the house, Jacuzzi tub calk removal and replacement, shower calk removal and replacement, re-grouting and attachment of a half dozen bricks that had come loose from the front steps, and installation of two flag pole holders on the front columns of my house.

I paid $79 for what was supposed to be two full hours of interior caulking and/or grouting. What I got was about 30 minutes worth of caulking, and another 30 minutes worth of Greg's talking about unrelated things and complaining about his job, the company, how they schedule appointments, etc. Even with that--I was still shorted a full hour's worth of work (which I did need to have done), but since he told me he hadn't brought any grout with him, he wasn't able to do. I dont know if it's because he thought I was a dumb female or what, but Greg tried to make me believe that he worked for the company--rather than owned it (UNLESS of course, there are two Gregs--which I suppose is always possible). He said he had worked for Triangle Home for about a month and a half, hated doing this type of work and that the only reason he did it was that nobody else wanted to. He said they (the company's office) were scheduling all these two-hour blocks of work that usually took him less than an hour to complete, and that then he then he would go and sit in a parking lot somewhere until it was time for his next appointment. He said that this deal was a really good one, and that he didn't know how the company was making any money. If the Greg that was at my house IS the company owner, then he needs to learn a lot more about what respect and good customer service is. (If this was a different Greg, and I were his supervisor, I might well have fired him on the spot if I knew what he was up to.) HOW CAN YOU POSSIBLY OFFER A CAULKING AND GROUTING SPECIAL AND THEN GO TO SOMEONE'S HOUSE WITHOUT ANY GROUT? It doesn't make sense. Anyway, Greg sure made money on me, because I paid $79 for about 30 minutes worth of work,... Obviously I'm not satisfied with the work that was done, but I'm particulary unhappy that I felt like Greg was trying to pull the wool over my eyes. One reason I joined Angie's list in the first place was to avoid this kind of business/contractor trying to take advantage of me.
Description of Work: A minimal amount of caulking around my shower, tub and sink. The job was completed in less than 30 minutes, was not particularly neat, and part of it had to be redone because the caulk didn't cover the seam between the tile and the shower. Greg said he didn't have any grout with him, therefore he couldn't do any grout work for me. The deal said that they (Triangle Home Care) would provide the caulk and/or grout for small jobs and that the home owner should provide it for larger ones. My jobs were small ones. (Also, I did have caulk available for Greg to use, but he chose to use his own because it was already in his caulk gun.)

We bought an Angie's List Big Deal for bathroom grouting and caulking as a try-out. While we had no problem making an appointment and Greg's office manager told us to buy the grout and caulk ahead of time, when we called several days before the appointment to confirm they had no record of us. He did squeeze us in that morning but was rushed, did the grouting and then told my husband "the caulking is up to you, buddy.". We were hoping to use him for some other work but will look elsewhere.

Very professional and friendly service. Prompt and helpful. Caulking is one of my least favorite jobs.....was happy to have the owner, Greg, remove old caulk from my shower area, and re-caulk for a good, waterproof seal. Looks nice and new, and now I feel good about not risking water and mold problems. Greg also re-grouted some problem areas on tile shower, and put a new bead of caulk around my granite backsplash. Great job and I'd hire again....certainly recommend this service.

We purchased the "Big Deal" for 2 hours of Kitchen/Bathroom Caulking and Grout Restoration at a cost of $79. We called Triangle Home Care and scheduled an appointment about three weeks away due to the popularity of the offer. On the day the service was scheduled, no one showed up at the appointed time. We waited and called the number provided on the voucher and Angie's List profile. We called twice and no one answered; we left messages for someone to call us back to let us know if they were coming. Someone called back after about 2 hours and told us we needed to call "the office" number and gave it to us (this number was not printed on anything we had from AL and not the number listed on our voucher). We called the office and spoke to a women. She said they had our service scheduled for a date two weeks away from what we had recorded from our original call. Could be an honest clerical entry error but seemed somewhat suspect. Although she was very nice and polite, we decided to just cancel. At any rate, it seems that they should list their office number on their profile to provide better communication. They probably do great work from the reviews we see, but scheduling accuracy is pretty important when potential customers need to plan their own schedules. Coincidentally, we noticed that they had another "Big Deal" offered on AL for $299 of handyman services on the same day that this occurred. Oh well, bygones.....
Description of Work: We had planned to have a small bathroom shower re-grouted and caulked. Decided not to proceed due to disagreement with the service provider regarding appointment scheduling.

I responded to an Angie's List Deal for grout work/caulking for 2 of my bathrooms and my laundry room. I have white tile/grout/caulking in the three areas. The grout/caulking needed to be replaced and touched up. Greg arrived on time and did a great job in the two hour time provided with the "deal". He is very informative and helpful regarding the work he did and the upkeep of the areas. I would certainly use him again for any new tile work I need in the future.

He seems to be able to do almost anything so it was nice to call one person to do all these tasks and get them out of the way. He returned my calls and email in a timley manner and showed up when he said he would.
Description of Work: He sprayed water repellant on the cement block walls of a downstairs storage room. I asked him about other options to help dry out the area and he was very honest about what would work and what would not. He hung a drapery rod, repaired a sliding door that would not lock properly and painted a new door & frame inside and out. Outside he dug out some old plants, pruned a tree and removed a cedar, and cleaned up and hauled the stuff away.
