Under the outside door was rotting. This was taken off and replaced with PVC board. Greg arrived promptly at 8:00am (when he said he would), inspected the door, and determined that it had not seeped any further (luckily flashing was there which prevented this). He was professional, worked quickly and did not try to sell me "additional services". I highly recommend Triangle Home Care. As a matter of fact, my father came to my house when he was there and was so impressed....he scheduled him to do repairs to his roof/chimney. One last thing, the total cost was $149 + materials (PVC board was around $45). So the total cost was under $200 to have this done.

I recently moved into a new home that had no place to accommodate a washer and dryer. It's a very odd and old home with uneven floors and weird closets in the living room. So I had Greg come take a look and see what he could make out of two closets that were next to each other in the living room. After a little less than a week's worth of work I have a gorgeous laundry room/ utility closet. I strongly recommend Triangle home care. Lauren

Nice guy and overall, the work he did was very good, but experienced a couple of snafus: 1. Didn't know I needed to provide the caulk. Didn't have the correct color to caulk the kitchen, which was needed, and couldn't run out to get it at that time. 2. Asked him to caulk all the way around shower area, as it was going to be painted, but saw after he'd left that he didn't. 3. In upstairs shower, still had leak from lower flange at the corner; conclusion: it wasn't caulked all the way across. Again, he was a great guy, and I own responsibility for not doing a thorough walk-through with water test before he left, and for not ascertaining what I was supposed to provided vs. was he would provide.

I give kudos to the team for their promptness and professionalism - not only was my email returned very promptly, but they were very careful to make sure we were all clear on what services I was going to request. I have to be 100% clear that the aspects I am unhappy with have not been discussed with the provider - but Angie's List keeps prompting me to review my experience so I am disclosing my complaints without giving the company a fair chance to make it right. Prior to the handyman coming out, one of the managers from the company came to make sure that our issue with the front door wasn't something more complicated, like damaged foundation or something that wouldn't be appropriate under the scope of the "Big Deal" - I thought that showed promise and dedication to quality and transparency. Apparently the repairs were deemed easy enough, and the appointment was scheduled for the handyman to come out and complete the repairs. I was not home when the repair was completed - my husband was. After arriving, the handyman ran to a home improvement store to buy the required materials. I was not home, but had I been, I would have probably had a problem with being required to pay $20 for the handyman to run to the store <5 miles away while it was also counting against the 2 hours of repair time included in the deal. I would happily have gone myself, or had my husband do it. However, that was in the "fine print" so although it decreased my perception of the value of the deal, it was fair for them to charge us that additional cost. The repair of the 2x4 under the patio door was fine - it just involved putting in ~3 nails to affix the wood back to the concrete foundation, something that we lacked the tools to do ourselves. The repair of the front door, however, is what I have a huge problem with now. The door frame had just seemed a little loose - without removing siding and such, I couldn't tell if the surrounding wood studs were rotted or what exactly the problem was, and I didn't want to open a can of worms that we couldn't handle. I thought this would be a great opportunity to have someone repair it. What I expected was that the door would operate as it should, and the looseness would be remedied. What happened instead was that the handyman simply threw in some more screws through the frame into the surrounding support - which did in fact correct the looseness, but it also pulled the door frame out of square. Apparently he told my husband that we should just get some weatherstripping to fill in the gap that he had created. Well, since then I have tried weatherstripping and because the gap is only at the bottom, it puts stress on the door hardware if the weatherstripping runs all the way along that edge - now the front door hardware is damaged by that. However, if I only run weatherstripping along the area of the gap, not only does it STILL not adequately fill the gap (I can see daylight through it), but the ends of the weatherstripping perpetually tried to fall off and it looked incredibly cheap and tacky to have a 2' section of weatherstripping along the doorframe. I have finally simply removed the weatherstripping altogether (another $30 worth of materials wasted). Here's the part where I repeat that I have not reported my discontent to the company so they have not had the chance to remedy this situation, but at the same time, I don't feel like I should have to complain about something that clearly the handyman realized was an issue before he even left. I fear that his "fix" may have resulted in a much more expensive repair, and until I find someone else to do that repair, I have a very large gap at my front door allowing air and bugs to draft through.
Description of Work: Purchased a "Big Deal" for wood rot repair and requested work on two areas of our house - reattaching a 2x4 that runs along the threshold of the sliding door to the patio, and repairing a "loose" door frame for the front door.

He was wonderful. He came out exactly when he said he would. He did the work he said he would do. He actually gave us some extra lumber and stuff because he said the job he was having to do he wouldn't charge us. It didn't take the full four hours. He gave us a bunch of free advice about other projects we were working on. He was great. We had a wonderful experience with him and we would absolutely use him again if we had those kind of needs again. He was just a really, really nice guy and did a really great job. He gave us a lot of helpful tips for our house in general.
Description of Work: We used a big deal purchase for Triangle Home Care - Greg Starkes for carpentry and woodworking. It was $149 for four hours. We have an exterior door that the base of it was rotting. He came and replaced the rotted wood with the treated non-rotted wood.

Greg showed up to give me an estimate and then we decided together exactly what work needed to be done. He was punctual and even made a trip to Home Depot to get the materials he needed. His work was outstanding, I can't even tell where the patch is! Would highly recommend him to others and will use him again myself if needed in the future.

The Triangle Home Care crew worked at my house for almost 3 weeks. I was a bit apprehensive at first because I wasn't at home while they worked, but I found them to be very trustworthy and eager to complete the job. Greg, the owner, called me regularly to discuss what had been accomplished and next steps. They made sure I was able to stay in my home during the project. This was the first remodel that I had experienced so selecting the right tiles and paint was a bit daunting, but they pulled everything together nicely. There are minor imperfections, but my house is old an that is to be expected. My only real disappointment was that I found out the day before the job was complete, that they wouldn't be able to sand and paint the bathroom door and window because of the old lead paint. Had I known earlier, I might have had the time to sand and paint them myself before the bathroom was done. Overall, it was a good experience and my bathroom turned out nice. Having the house reinforced also puts me more at ease for doing future remodeling and I will likely contact Triangle Home Care in the future.
Description of Work: Support house/floor joyst with new 2 ply beam to run where existing beam was removed. Reinforce existing main house support beam where needed to ensure proper structural perfomance. Remove existing tub and tile; replace all rotten studs in the walls and rotten sub-flooring where needed; replace with green board anti-fungal sheet rock and hardi backer board; install one GFI outlet; lower light above sink to homeowner’s specifications; install new tub, vanity, toilet, and mirror; paint to homeowner’s specifications. Owner purchased vanity, sink faucet, light fixture, and mirror.

They were excellent. They had a crew of two to four carpenters out here for a week replacing all the rotted wood (mainly behind the gutters). They took down the old gutters and at my request, did not replace them. They arranged for all the old wood and gutters to be hauled away. Doug consistently explained every task before they did it, so that we were always cognizant of where and why they were working. This was truly a monumental task ( 2700 square feet house built in 1971 with attached garage).

Greg measured the floor and bath area so I could choose and order tile. We set a start date but I had to change it because of other commitments. Greg was very accomodating. Greg & his tiler Sean removed the bath and old tile on bath walls and bathroom floor. They brought in a plumber to put in new piping and fittings for the shower. Sean tiled the floor and installed a new skirting board. He then tiled the shower walls including a decorative strip and soap/shampoo holder. The shower floor was a different tile. It required sealing as well as grouting. They cleaned up every day and when finished. We've had alsolutely no problems.

The crew arrived on time, walked the job with me and actually accepted additional work outside of that initially contracted. I was offered a reasonable rate for an additional man for the entire day. The crew was courteous, deliberate in this work and did an acceptable job in clean up. The work fully met my expectations.
Description of Work: I requested that all issues raised in the inspection report which was obtained at the time our house was purchased and which the seller refused to address be repaired. This scope involved involved all areas of rotting wood and a malfunctioning exhaust. All of the items noted were addressed, done on time and under budget.
