Greg and another worker came to the jobsite. When one went to purchase material the other was removing damaged wood which saved on time. Greg made recommendations of the best material so that I wouldn't continue to have the same problem. He additionally inspected other damages and suggested ways to address them. They removed all debri and assisted with other small requests. I would use them again because they were more attentive and wanted to do a good job. I picked them over a larger company who appeared to have gotten the business but had numerous complaints.

To start, they were punctual. Each team member worked diligently and professionally until the tasks were completed. We were more than satisfied with the results. The quality was excellent! The cost was reasonable. We are definitely going to hire this company again.

We bought a Big Deal for a new tile floor/ backsplash (incl. demolition and some materials) to replace our kitchen backsplash. I called Greg and mentioned the tile choices in the deal were for 12"x12"/larger and this was too big for our backsplash. He said this was for floor tile. So I was of the understanding that we could select a tile smaller than 12"x12" as part of the deal. I told him we had existing backsplash that we wanted to replace with 6"x6" tile, possibly incorporating some mosaic tile. I asked if he wanted to see our kitchen before doing the work, but he said it wasn't cost efficient for him to do so. I offered to email him photos of our kitchen/the design I had in mind, but he said it wasn't necessary. When Greg came to do the work (several weeks later), he realized that we had 3 problems: 1) He didn't know we had existing backsplash. I was surprised because I had told him this before. He said that backsplash demolition was not included in the deal (only floor removal). I showed Greg the Big Deal and he then said he would include demolition, even though it was for flooring. I didn't catch this at that time, but later, I saw that the deal did specifically note backsplash removal. Greg further said demolition might damage the wall and he would thus need to install backer board before he could install the tile (an added cost?). 2) Greg then said our 6"x6" tile was not included in the deal and would thus cost extra (only tile 12"x12"/larger was included). I was again surprised because we had discussed this before and I had brought this up as a concern. I reminded him that I had told him we wanted mostly 6"x6" tile and that I had explicitly asked him about the tile size and he said the 12"x12" tile was for flooring. My takeaway was that smaller size tile would be fine(or he would have said otherwise). It made sense because few people would use 12"x12"/larger tile on their backsplash. 3) The tile design we had in mind was to have some tile with a small strip of mosaic tile on top, followed by more tile on top. He said this design would require his coming back out another day, because we would have to allow the mosaic to dry before putting more tile on top. Otherwise, the weight of the tile would slide down and compress the mosaic tile squares together. Greg said coming out another day would run another $600. I had already paid $399 for the Big Deal, so $1000 was more than we wanted to spend on this project and negate any savings on the project. So we did not move forward with the job, primarily because of problem #3 and the added cost. However, it also seemed that Greg didn't recall the fine print of his own deal (demolition included). On #2, I thought we were clear on our using smaller tile and not incurring an extra cost. So I now felt like I was being told something different than what was previously discussed. As for #3, while I understand this was hard to anticipate before Greg came out, I did offer to email pictures to him several weeks ago and he had declined. I feel as if we could have easily avoided a wasted trip out for him if he had had a better idea of what to expect beforehand. That being said, Greg was upfront about the issues and did not start the work before telling me about them, so I appreciated that. I noted that we might now do this project ourselves and he even then provided pointers. I don't think he was trying to find ways to charge me extra, but I do think his Big Deal should clarify some of the issues I mentioned above and it would be better if he had remembered some of the details of his own deal as well as what we had discussed.

That went well. They were prompt, they came on time and they did the job well. The only thing is that I thought the tiles was included in the deal and when I contacted them, they said they would prefer me buying the tiles and they gave me $40 off on that but the tiles cost around $150. They were courteous and did what they were supposed to do.

We used the Angies list deal of $149.00 for 4 hours of wood rot repair (2 men 2 hours each) and $75 for each additional hour. I knew going into it this project it was not a simple one. We had a gutter barely attached and obvious wood rot behind the gutter on the fascia. And, had no idea what was also rotted behind the facia. Greg called ahead to find out about the project. He explained that he would be bringing 2 men and himself out to do the project and the price was be $75 per hour for the 2 men + a little extra for him (only $25 per hour). It was a bit odd at first with the additional $25 but, it made sense later. The guys arrived as expected in the AM. Greg and I had a discussion about what they needed to work on. I hadn't seen the rot in the soffit, but it was obvious when we looked at it. The addition of Greg to be there with the crew allowed the guys to get to work right away while Greg went out to get supplies. After the guys had taken down the gutter and the fascia ?uugh?there was more rot behind the fascia, along with a few other problems?rotted siding, problems with the original construction of the house,. Greg and I talked in depth about options and finally settled on what made sense. They used the pvc (plastic) materials in the repair to prevent any future problems..very important because of the original structural problems. The guys worked very efficiently. And, the work looks great. It's definitely a quality job. Overall I ended up paying $700 for the job including material. They started at 8:30 and ended around 2:30 with a lunch break. The pricing was confusing with the Angies List deal and the addition of $25 per hour for Greg. But, I do believe the project was worth at least that and I am very satisfied with the work.

This was an Angie's List Big Deal and the price was reasonable. Work was completed as requested and he was on time and cleaned up afterwards. The shower caulking still looks as good as the day he completed the work and we haven't had any mold since that time. The kitchen caulking has cracked once again but our house has some settling issues and I think it is something we just have to repeat periodically and not the fault of Mr. Starks. The only thing I thought was odd was his request that I buy the product he needed to do the job. This was stated in the offer, and it made sense so that the color of caulking was correct but it still seemed odd!

Work was completed, but it did take a lot longer than i expected & they work working by the hour. However, i spent my Sat cleaning up the mess that they left. Styrofoam & wet insulation in my shrubs & I found all of the gutter nails in my yard, shrubs, & on my porch (wish i could post pictures). I also had to clean the mud off my house that their ladders left at each place they laid it against my house. I asked for an invoice & he offered to give me something hand written a scrap piece of paper, but i told him to email me something. All I got was an email just saying how much it cost me.

We completed his scope of work and showed up earlier then normal to appease his schedule. After inspection we found and fixed a gutter problem that would have cost him thousands in boxing repair. It was raining all day on us and we may have missed some clean up but for him to leave this grade and review it seems pretty intense

Not well. After scheduling the project date with the office administrator we were told that we would get a call from Greg Starkes to discuss the details of the job in advance. Unfortunately, Greg did not call us until the morning of the job. He spoke with my husband who needed to confirm the detail of the job before they started. They did not agree with how to proceed and Greg informed my husband that he did not want the job after all.

These guys were on time, and very courteous. We walked around the jobsite and I pointed out what needed to be done, they made suggestions, including how to save money. They work as a pair which was great so that one could start removing rotted wood, etc., while the other one went to get the lumber supplies needed. They took all of the rotted wood and debris with them, cleaned up around the work site, and did a very good job. I was very happy with the job and would use these guys again.

After purchasing the service on Angie's List "Big Deal" I received and email from THC thanking me for the order and asking me to call them to schedule an appointment. To date I have made no fewer than 8 calls and a couple of emails. Each call went into voice mail where I left my name and number and a short message. I have never received a call back or answer to my emails. At this point I have lost all confidence in them as a vendor and would like to just get my money back. No services have been delivered.
