Express Yourself Paint
About us
We were established in 2006 through a lot of sweat, tears and 80-hour work weeks, like most small businesses. I left my cushy upper management job in corporate to take over the great business my wife had started. She had decided to make our home a happier place by learning to paint faux finishes through our home like marbled ceilings and a brick painted patio. Then the neighbors wanted them, their friends and so forth. The name "Express Yourself Paint" came from customer's expressing their unique character through faux finishes. We started out in an eight-foot utility trailer with the forty-foot ladders hanging out to infinity with red flags tied to them and a used spray gun. We looked more like the Red Neck Painters of Raleigh. Thanks to all those trusting souls who allowed us to paint for them in those early days! We came from humble beginnings, but we wanted to create a different kind of painting company. A company that is high performance, uses modern technology for communicating and scheduling making for a more satisfied customer experience while still applying paint the old fashion way...brushes, rollers and sprayers. Our desire to be different has resulted in us becoming the largest and most successful repaint company in the Triangle. All that said, we still trip over our own feet sometimes and as of yet have not discovered how to be perfect. Give us a try and we will most definitely put our best foot forward for you. We can't leave the light on for you because we are at your home painting, but we will definitely bring all the paint and the fixings. Our sincere wish for you is to experience, "The Power of Paint!"

"We are disappointed that your are dissatisfied. From the time we completed your project until the date of this review was 32 months. Factors That Affect the Life Span of Your Stain 1. Newly pressure treated wood is full of preservatives and stains are not able to fully penetrate the wood pores. 2. The fibers on older aged wood become weaker over time and wears away taking the stain with the loose fibers. 3. Decks in heavy sun will fade and become sun damaged quicker than a deck in the shade. Shaded decks tend to mildew, also negatively affecting the life of the stain. 4. Heavy foot and pet traffic creates friction that wears away the stain and wood fibers decreasing the life of the stain. 5. Excessive water from a roof valley that overflows onto the deck with each rain, for example, will have negative affect on the life of the stain. The life span of a stained deck will vary widely based on the number and severity of the factors listed. In severe cases, re-staining may be needed yearly while the ideal deck conditions may last 5 years. Because a deck often has several of the negative factors above, they tend to be the most problematic structures to coat. We highly recommend solid stains as they protect your wood from elements such as sun and water much better than clear sealers. They are also much easier and cost-effective to maintain or refresh as stated in your comments. On average a solid stain will need to be applied at least on the horizontals every 2-4 years."
"Hi [Member Name Removed] I went back and reviewed the quote which was 10% less then industry standard. And with the additional work you requested it did raise the initial estimate to accommodate your project. I hope that you were able to get your home project taken care. Best regards."
"Mr. [Member Name Removed], You signed off on your job completion after we completed your final scheduled touch up on 7/15 stating the following: "I have reviewed my project with the technician(s) and have found the work and cleanliness to be acceptable and complete." I personally visited your job site on 7/15 and your paint job looked great and at the time you were in agreement. Even after you signed off and had paid in full we still sent the techs out to make an additional touch up at your request free of charge (per the contract is a $99 fee). Unfortunately, when the techs arrived for the additional touch up on Saturday 7/16 you had scrapped the paint off your window trim down to the bare wood and communicated they would need to repair that as well. I did in fact tell the techs not to address these areas you damaged. I did also instruct the people in my organization to block your calls. Why? Because you called over 200 times, even called people unassociated with your project multiple times. You also called the techs and threatened to turn them in for being illegal (although the person you were making threats to is actually a citizen and pregnant). Our business with you has concluded. We have you marked in our system as "Do not do business with this client". We wish you well in your future endeavors. David Roberts, President"
"Hi [Member Name Removed], As of 8/11 we did do an in person estimate for your project and you accepted our bid. We than conducted the project and you signed off as being satisfied with our work on 8/25. I also know that we were able to connect back in June to complete another project you requested and have since met your needs. My hope is that this review will not reflect the relationship you've experienced with our company as we truly appreciated you. Thank you again for entrusting your home projects to us."

"Thank you very much for your feedback. Unfortunately different batches of paint and some sheens seldom match well enough to touch up and require the entire section to be painted for proper appearance. Thanks for allowing us to come back out on October 29th to repaint the wall in its entirety to your satisfaction. David Roberts, President Behold The Power of Paint!"
"Thank you for your time on the phone. We wanted to again apologize for Douglas not proving an estimate to you in a timely manner. As you can see by our reviews, this is not reflective of our company. We used this as a teaching moment for our team."
"Thank you, Mr. [Member Name Removed]! It was a pleasure serving you!"
